You know what, it's on Crunchyroll, I think I can put it here. :P

Is anyone keeping up with the episodes? The short episode length has been frustrating, but wow, if Episode 8 isn't pay-off and then some. Really loving the characters and style. :)

Any other fans?

Been following it since the first trailer almost a year ago now. It's been alright so far and my description of episode 8 is only fitting for one part near the end:

However, I do think that
Weiss' sudden reversal was, well, sudden. Maybe the giant monsters and Ruby's 'Leeroy Jenkins' approach to the situation played a hand in defrosting her, but it felt like Weiss just dropped her "rich bitch" attitude a little too quickly. It's like her epiphany was off screen. I'm having a really hard time trying to convey my thoughts at the moment.

You're absolutely right, Nora is the best.

I worry about RWBY, but episode 8 gives me confidence in the series. I look forward to seeing more episodes of episode 8's calibre. Of course, I expect that we will have to wait a while before we see another action-packed 10+ minute episode.

So far, even though I felt that the early episodes were disappointments, I like RWBY.

The way RWBY's gone so far reminds me of Naruto quite a bit, since both start off with goofy protagonists that are talented enough to get into the best respective schools. They both undergo partnered trials in the forest, where they prove themselves worthy enough to graduate near the top. Then bad guy!

Apologies if I goofed something up, it's been years since I last read Naruto :p

Reminds me of Soul Eater with the whole 'school with students armed with weapons to beat bad guys' thing. Liking the fight action choreography since that is what Monty does best and the music is balling too.

Series is still in the core character introduction phase (although right about done since an arc just finished) so thats a necessary hurdle before things potentially starts to get better. Has some great comedy moments too with some anime references if you can catch them.

Also Jaune is gonna be the Caboose of this series I can already tell so he is my favorite already.

I get myself hyped every Thursday afternoon right before RWBY starts at 8 pm. Episode 8 was so damn good, wow. Still waiting for the new song (Red Like Roses pt. 2) to be released.

I'll admit, when RWBY was first announced I was... skeptical. In my defense I wasn't sure if Rooster Teeth could pull off a series like this, I mean almost every one knows them for Red vs. Blue so I wasn't sure if they could pull this off. Then some friends of mine showed me the trailers for it and any doubt I had vanished. It's well put together, has very likable characters, and is able to dish out the laughs with out heavily using profanity. Hell I'm able to watch this with my ten year old twin brothers with out having to find a way to bleep words out. Quite frankly, I can't wait to see where things are going from here.
Especially considering it looks like Roman is planning an attack on Beacon some time in the (near)future.

Gag reel plz.

I never really jumped on the hype train for this show, but when I saw the first episode I loved it. It's off to a good start, but it has a lot of room to grow, and it looks like it will grow into a great series. Hopefully they can release longer episodes more often.

I been frustrated with RWBY until episode 8. Watching the trailers I went in expecting balls to the wall over the top action. While I liked what series brought it with school setting and off beat nature of everything but that wasn't what I wanted out of this series. It didn't get there until episode 8

The best character isn't even any of the characters the show's named after.

It's Nora. <3
I liked her when she was called Pepper Potts.
JK JK

but RWBY is alright. whatever isnt an action animation is okay (despite my immense dislike towards scattered silhouettes)

I found the Dorky blonde guy ( I suck with names) more interesting though.

You mean Yosuke Jean?
Yeah, he is my favourite as well.

I do find it hard to believe he doesnt know the basics of magic in the world. KIIIIIINDA pushing the audience character a bit.

so apparently the season finale was just released.

i'll admit i didn't pay much attention to this before, but i figured i would watch the whole season in one go, so here are my thoughts:

While the show has some rather rough spots here and there (some spots being really REALLY rough) I think its on to something here. It definitely has a sense of fun and I laughed when there were references to other Rooster Teeth gags. So whenever season 2 shows up, I hope they get more resources and are able to refine their tools. I'll also note that the world building in the last few episodes is fairly interesting.

Also I hope Monty is taking notes from footage of Guilty Gear Xrd.

Didn't really like the Joan Bully arc that much, but it was necessary for further character developments down the line so Joan can man up. Finale arc was great where the fight scene was pretty awesome. Liking the whole backstory of how humans and faunas have tension with each to the point of discrimination. The show seems to be a mix of comedy, action, and even sadness. Still more is hinted after the credits so the plot is just barely getting started.

S1 was great for the purpose of introducing the key characters, fleshing them out a bit, setting, backstory, and even some nice fight scenes.

This is pretty much RWBY in a nutshell. I liked it overall but it was definitely a starter season that needed to set up. However, what it has set up has been good imo and it has the potential to be really great.

Also, Penny <3 for
essentially being a Murakumo unit.

You know I'm trying to keep an open mind about this show. I ask myself "If this was a proper anime would I be more willing to forgive its obvious shortcomings?"

One of the biggest issues it has is that the animation is terrible if it's anything that isn't people flying around fighting things. Walking, eating, talking all look insanely stiff.

I hope for the next season they get more animators on board. Get someone working on environments, how charters interact with said environment, and maybe actually give the characters shadows.

As I said I did a full watch of the show for the first time yesterday, here my thoughts as I recall them on the season as it progressed:

- Hrmm. Interesting. I like settings where main characters are family members. Ruby & Yang's interactions are pretty cute.
- Cookies. Cookies are awesome.
- Where are we going with this?
- Ok the cast is assembled. And now its full on Shadow of the Colossus.
- A storyline about the B team? Uhh ok. Its kinda dragging a bit though.
- Well at least Jaune manned up.
- Weiss got defrosted . . . a little bit.
- Detectives Burnie & Joel? You got my attention.
- Blake is mad and has CAT EARS? ok I'm all in.
- Needs more hand drawn flashback sequences.
- Oh wow Penny you are the best girl on the show!
- And the end of season stinger.

I wonder if they'll have a Penny shirt at PAX East this next March.

So, I really didn't like the show up until episode 4.

Then it became incredibly amazing.

I cannot wait until season 2 starts. Heck, I can't wait until they put the rest of the season on YouTube.

A little side note, btw. I know a girl who is a lot like Blake. She even wears a cat ear headband just like Blake.

Although she does not read pornographic books like Blake does, though.

The show is still kind of middling. It has some really stand out parts that are really worth watching for - Episode 8 obviously and now Penny's proper introduction. I really liked how all the characters treated her cutting the plane in half with sword lasers with the same "Holy shit" that most of the audience would.

All in all though, I can't see this show getting hugely better than it is. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but the forced peppy voice acting sounds like it's here to stay, the non fight animations are still as clunky as Oum's previous work (that man seriously needs to make better transitions from standing still/walking to running, and less shovel hands) and in general the writing is pretty clunky and heavy handed.

The overall plot does feel nice though. I'm not too gone on the actual writing, but I am curious to see where it's going. It's also nice watching the world slowly get filled up with more assets as time goes on. I always enjoyed that in Star Wars the Clone Wars too for some reason.

tl;dr if the fights didn't look so nice I'd have given up on this long ago, but it just barely has enough good points to keep me watching.

So, apparently, the Rwby DVD is #2 on the best selling anime list that amazon has.

HURRAY! THE SHOW IS SUCCESSFUL!

I wouldn't consider RWBY a very high budget project either so similar with the Paranormal Activity film franchise (Low Budget, High Revenue) this can insure future seasons because of the DVD sales.

I can see this series growing in the future.

While this season had some rought moments I think it's truly amazing seeing Monty's show after Dead Fantasy... well died..

I just hope next season is soon!

Which means more success and awesomeness for both us and Roosterteeth!

Hurray!

The haters can officially piss off now! Especially the two on Amazon!

Finally got to watching all 16 episodes after missing the hype train after the Yang trailer.
Good fucking lord. So good. Usually I'd be waiting for the combat (especially since it's so hype), but the in-between is just so amazing to make up for it.
Son Wukong though.
I normally am gay as shit for Monkey King Analogues. But a bo staff that splits into a shotgun nunchaku?
Where is Monty Oum pulling these ideas out of and why has he not used them in games yet.

Finally watched the rest of the episodes from where I left off. Definitely gets better as it goes along, particularly those last two episodes.

Nora is best character, but Penny is good too.

Also, the shipping, my god, the shipping! Every pairing I see just works well together.

You mean like the Bumblebee, Pink/White Rose, and the most sickenening of all, Orange ships?

Wait, why do I know the names of these ships?

Am.....am I a pervert?

all I know about ships is that Weiss/Yang should be called Yellow Snow or there is no justice in this world

Yup, I'm a fan of this too. I'll admit it's not without flaw, the biggest of which is that it sometimes goes painfully slowly—like waiting for a TV show, only with much less content to wait for than a typical TV episode. It's definitely worth watching, though—I describe it as having combined the positive traits of Friendship is Magic (Focus on emotions and companionship) and Soul Eater (Focus on teamwork, the "fighting academy" premise), and it does so quite well.

I really like Penny (And I was among the first to guess she was a Robot), but she feels like she's...well, over the top. I often refer to her as overpowered, and her weapon is kind of the best weapon we've seen so far. I don't want to discredit Penny, I think she's awesome—but she's going to have to be handled carefully to not make the other characters lackluster by comparison.

I thought that Penny was a robot when I first saw her too.

Then I thought to myself "No, that couldn't be right.

Then it turned out that I was right, and I thought to myself "WHY DIDN'T I LISTEN TO ME."

Anyway, your post was great. This is a bit like Soul Eater.
