GGPOGirls is an event that would happen pretty spontaneously in the skullgirls IRC, and then stopped being a thing for a while.

But now it's back, and it has arguably been so for years.

The way it works is every week at a tentative Saturday 5:30 PM PST, the Wheel of Games is spun, and the chosen game is played in a standard double elimination style tournament using legally acquired roms on Fightcade. Entry is free.

What are the games?


Revised rules and tournament process as of the past few weeks:

Challonge will be up ahead of time, I will do my best to get it set up at least a week in advance but there might be some occasions in which it won't happen that soon.

Everyone who signs up gets to enter one game into the wheel, this is done by telling me directly, responding in the thread, or putting the game you want to add in your name on Challonge. Every game on fightcade is acceptable within reason, including beat 'em ups like dnd and avp. However working out the win conditions for beat em ups will either be handled based on first player to x score wins, first player to use a continue loses, or some other game specific goal.

Every match will be streamed, until the player count makes it unreasonable to do so. Every match will also be 2/3 until Grand Finals which will then be 3/5.

The rest of the rules are tournament standard, don't switch characters on a win, only use legally acquired roms from an arcade cabinet, heroes don't use infinites (I won't stop you tho), don't cause physical harm to another living thing as a result of videogames.

Are there prizes?
Nope, but I have a bunch of bad games if people want compensation for winning, I could give one to the winner.

Whats fightcade?
Its a free utility based on the now dead GGPO for playing arcade games over the internet. get it at fightcade.com

But I don't like any of the games???
Suggest one you like below and it may be negotiated to be included.

I urge people to play this just for the fun of it, and not much else-- it tends to be interesting however when big players come in and do stuff; My finals w/ Duckator in Alpha 2 come to mind.
 
People should sign up for these cause they're fun. The most fun part is finding out special moves mid match right before your character dies.
 
This is a small reminder that this does happen today, and barring any of my own personal connection issues, we should be all gravy.


I'm changing the time to 6:30PM PST however to make sure everything is golden

Swear to gawd that I'm going to jump in on one of these again at some point. I missed winning KOF 2k2 by the skin of my teeth last time I played; next time I'm getting the gold.
 
That reminds me, I've made some adjustments to the wheel deal since before last time.

Second Impact got replaced with Alpha 2 and KOF 2000 got replaced with Windjammers. Let me know if anyone has any problems with that so I know which of you are sean mains (not serious but lemme know if there are any games that should be removed/added, I'm a little on the fence about LB2 and Samsho V).

Pray I do not alter the wheel any further.

I dunno, I keep seeing them running around in the streets. I think they got the day off or something.

Gave it a good 25-20 minutes after it was supposed to start and didn't get any signups so I left and made dinner
