The Smash Bros Discussion Thread

It's from this.
I couldn't tell you about the four songs though, I thought it was just variations on the four main themes.
Specifically, It goes from the 4 Main Theme, to the 3 theme medley from Brawl/Subspace's credits (64 credits/Melee theme/Brawl Main Theme), to Melee's menu theme, and finally the Brawl Main theme/menu again.

New info:

1. Lucina was originally included as a Marth skin.
2. “A certain character” was cut during development. (Chrom? Who knows. It's not clarified.)
3. Sakurai didn’t want to reduce the total number of characters.
4. It wasn’t possible to make a brand new character on short notice.
5. Lucina was repurposed into her own character slot to fill the void.

Coulda been Chrom.
He's got his own character model and everything, and it would make the Gematsu Leak make sense if we consider the info to be outdated as opposed to just wrong, same way he said X and Y Pokemon as opposed to Greninja since the team was just going off of concept art.

Now there's a mystery.
Who got cut in development for Lucina to fill their shoes?

I'm going to stick to the idea it was Dillon given how detailed his model is for an AT but that's just me.

There's quite a lot of possibilities, all things considered.
Chrom is quite likely, if we're still going off the Gematsu Leak, maybe they decided to make it Lucina and Robin instead fo mix things up (The whole Blue Haired Swordsman thing).
Though, Dillon is also a pretty good case.
My friend on a Skype Group thinks it might've been Rayman, hence the trophy.
He thinks that Rayman was gonna be playable, but since Ubisoft was forced to make Rayman Legends not exclusive, they retaliated by revoking his playable rights.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that statement would only apply to a new character, as the problem was simply that they didn't have enough time to create a new moveset. Lucas's was already made, from Ness even. He wouldn't be shafted because of that.

That is definitely more probable. I was just thinking of that rumor (Gematsu? I don't remember) that they debated cutting Lucas.

also get yer whitewashed eurocentric god outta here. dis ma deer deity

I'm seriously sitting here, thinking of who could have been cut during development, and why.
There could be a plethora of reasons
1. Character didn't turn out as well as hoped
2. Character was third party, and said third party either changed their mind or never approved in the first place
3. Character proved extremely unpopular during testing

And a bunch of other possible reasons.
But the question is, what kind of character would meet any of those to actually get cut during development?
Are we looking at a new Forbidden Seven situation?

So wait...a character was cut in development and lucina was originally a pallete...Gematsu-san why you so out of date.

Info

Lucina can mask on/off with a taunt, like Guile

Reverse Falcon Punch is back and does more damage if reverse

Robin's Forward Smash
This move strikes your opponent with Robin's Thunder Sword. However, as you can only use Robin's Thunder Sword attacks a certain number of times, once you've run out of uses, this attack will hit with a regular bronze sword instead.

Forward air attack
When performing this move, if you were to smash the analog stick in the forward direction, Robin will attack with his Thunder Sword for additional electric damage. But like all of Robin's Thunder Sword attacks, you can only use the improved version a finite number of times.

Down+B: Nosferatu
Purple-black smog in the shape of a snake appears right in front of Robin when this move is used. If your opponent is hit by it, he or she will be "cursed" by the spell. When a cursed opponent is hit, Robin's health meter will recover. What's also interesting is that if the cursed opponent is struck from the back, the amount of health Robin recovers will be larger.

Neutral B: Thunder
Hitting the button once will activate a charging period for Robin's Thunder spell, and hitting it again will cast it. The amount of time Robin charges will determine the version of the spell cast (Thunder, L Thunder, Giga Thunder, or Tron).

While charging, you can also hit the shield button to cancel the move and store the charge -- the next time you hit the B button, Robin will resume charging from wherever you left off previously.

Up+B: L Wind
When this special move is performed in the air, Robin produces two green projectiles that he sends flying downwards, which simultaneously propels him upwards. However, you can only use this move a limited number of times. Once you've exceeded the number of uses, Robin will not produce the projectiles or jump higher.

Side+B: Giga Fire
Robin produces a projectile that flies diagonally downwards. When the projectile comes into contat with the stage, an opponent, or an item, it will generate a pillar of fire that spreads upwards, and deal area damage to anyone nearby.

Also, my friend who thinks Rayman was the one cut pointed out that Rayman's Trophy was shown on the same day as Lucina.
If he's right about him being the one cut, that'd be a huge "Fuck you" to Ubisoft.

Here's a theory on the cut character: It was shulk. That's why the gematsu leaker was confident shulk would be last monday; the dated information they had the reveal after evo as shulk, when shulk was cut for lucina they decided to reveal robin as well since just revealing a clone would be disappointing (similar to charizard's reveal.)

Maybe Lucas.

but deer god please not Lucas
That wouldn't make any sense. They can make a clone of marth but a clone of ness would break the budget?

Apparently, the part about a character being cut might actually be a mistranslation and Lucina was just an alt that got promoted to Marth clone.

Oh hell no, if that were the case, I'd be absolutely livid as Shulk is my most wanted character.

I doubt it is, Shulk is very highly demanded and would be free publicity for Xenoblade X (irregardless of the fact that he's not in it, he's still the star from the game X is a sequel to)

So that's not his Down Air? Wait, you mean the weapon degradation applies to his recovery too? That's BS! How's he supposed to recover after his Wind Tome dies out?

So Archie comics revealed a couple of new covers, and their next set is beautiful.

Note that these are three different series. They are not in crossover mode at all right now. They are seperate. But put them together, and...

"Pic of the Day! I recently had the chance to see the Flaming Emblems live. I had front row tickets at their sold-out Coliseum Concert. It was very exciting! Here they are in the middle of their newest hit single -- a cover of You Will Know Our Names."

"Followed up with 'With a Little Help from Ike's Friends' and the top single from last year, 'Don't speak her name'. "

November 21st Release Date?
That'd leave only a month between releases...
I'd be down with that sort of window!

If it's true, It'll either be a random figure, or Mario. Which is ehhhh, still a nice gesture. Can't wait to see the Lucina and Robin figures.
