Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra

So, I was told by a friend of mine that someone on Tumblr is actually leaking the episodes as a way to get some petty "payback" at Nick for not advertising the show enough.

This can only lead to problems. Human beings sometimes, man.

why did I pretty much know how this story was gonna turn out just by this phrase alone?

No idea. :P

goddaammnnn Zaheer putting the whole world on notice.

Earth Kingdom is the No Flex Zone courtesy of the Red Lotus.

so apparently the finale is out

and things happened. like power-ups! outfit changes! vague "is that character still alive?" moments!

So is the series over or is it gonna get more seasons than The last Airbender
I think there's one more season and its in post-production (I think?)

So maybe it'll be back sooner than we expect?

There're gonna be more episodes, but I don't know how much more. They obviously can't end the series with that.

no but they can though. they may have one more episode though. But I'm pretty sure both book 3 and 4 were slated for 13 episodes.

I hope
that we get to see Korra recover instead of just getting a "two months have passed and she's pretty much better now". Also, I really liked seeing Korra in a wheelchair, don't know why but it felt very powerful. Also, combustion girls death was cool. Lava bending bolin I'm not sure about. I really liked the Korra Asami moment at the end. Maybe Korra can give us a lesbian relationship in a big cartoon network? Haha yeah right.

I do wanna see korra recover, that would be nice. I was less focused on the wheelchair and more focused on the intensely depressed look on her face.
I think Bolin lava bending is reasonable and believable...it's not too big of a stretch.
I actually don't want Korra to be a lesbian, if Asami is, fine, that could possibly add an actually interesting layer to romance. I feel like making Korra a lesbian might send the wrong message, you know?

yeah, I meant how she looked in the wheelchair.

Not that Bolin lava bending is bad, I just need a minute to get used to it.

No, I don't know. I mean, what kind of negative message could it send? Sides, it's just me hoping, I don't think it'll happen, nor do I expect it. Though Korra's voice actress said she supports it, which I find amusing.

P'Li went B'lammo!

not to be a pessimist but I don't she's gonna make it through a whole nother book. they put mercury inside her body. when I was growing up people told me you're not even suppose to touch that stuff. Maybe she kicks the bucket somewhere in the middle of next season and the rest of the book is finding the new avatar before villians

THE

FUCKING

CLIQUE

oh my god i've never seen an western animated character go in SO FUCKING HARD since Black Bettle on Young Justice.

okay now that would actually be really cool.

Every season of Avatar has ended just the same as the last, good but not good enough. Not as good as it could be. Every episode that ends leaves me with equal parts criticism and praise. It's a bittersweet experience in the end.

Honestly, don't most cartoons end bittersweet? Assuming they end at all.

Avatar's run of season finales is starting to become a rarity in mainstream animation these days, let alone western action cartoons. I'm not even sure what it's comparable to at this point.

There's just so much that could be better, but it's exceedingly clear that the writers aren't willing to take the risks necessary to make the show truly great. Honestly I've lost faith in Avatar, I'll still watch it but the hope is gone.

The scene where Zaheer and P'li were just being ADULTS was a risk.

Giving your villians actual personalities is a risk.

We always see teenagers fall in love or express themselves in this show and for the most part it's pretty awkward.

Which is fine, teenage emotions are awkward.

But for once, we watched 2 grown ass adults just tell each other how they felt, we got another character defining moment, AND some backstory on P'li and Zaheer's relationship.

That in itself was a risk.

Zaheer and P'Li was actually the only romantic relationship which I supported and felt was necessary.
It was actually important unlike the rest of the tacked on fan service, the show needs more of those risks.
It needs more of that genuinely good writing.

These people, who are not crazy, who are not monsters, who are not brainwashed nor mindcontrolled have a ideology that directly opposes the MC, an ideology that is just as thought out and put under scrutiny as the MC's.

They all have their likes and dislikes, their stories, their quirks, their traits, their love and anger and ALLL OF THEIIRR SOORRROOOOWWWW etc etc you get the point.

These are probably some of the best handled villians in any animation ever.

Actually, I applaud the season 3 writing of love.

Korra and Asami and Mako all just grew with their heartache and just got over it, like how levelheaded teenagers growing into adults do.

Season 1 and 2 were really weak in that department, but season 3 has done it just fine.

Mako was the least comfortable with the whole thing because he's the character that has done the most dirt in that department, which is how it usually works in real life.

However it all fell flat in the end, each of these amazing characters just fell one by one to the protagonists because, "Well, the good guys need to win." I have to admit, I was sorta rooting for the Red Lotus.

well I can't really fault a show for making the bad guys lose unless it's in a really pulled out of their ass kind of way
and that wasn't really the case here

Honestly I've lost faith in Avatar, I'll still watch it but the hope is gone.
Good luck to you then! When you finally find that special cartoon series, be sure to let the rest of us know.

As for me, I'll just stick to my little world where I pretend Exo-Squad Season 2: Ep52 never happened.

No, the good guys won because they outnumbered the bad guys like 5 to 1.

An entire army attacked 4 people, 2 out of the 5 strongest earthbenders alive took out what we can reasonably say was one of the strongest firebenders to ever exist, by a sneak attack.

That sneak attack took out the strongest offensive member on the Red Lotus.

Mako just used science to his advantage, he never lightning bended on the RL before that fight, there was no reason for waterbending chick to think he could. Mako and Bolin then tag teamed Lavadude.

And well Zaheer was attacked by like 80% of the world airbending population.

I am the first one to call out something if I think it's writing was lackluster or forced.

The Dues Ex Machina at the end of season 1 was BAD, I still haven't watched alot season 2 because of it.

But the last act of Seasons 3 was masterful, and it sets up alot.

It showed that Korra wasn't invincible, she still thinks about the Equalists and Vattu and whathisface.

It showed that there are anarchists, who truly believe in their vision, are out and about, and to be honest, if it wasn't for the whole "kill the avatar" thing, I'd probably be one of them.

And it showed world police airbenders, which probably won't go over too well, who wants a bunch of self righteous nomads meddling in the affairs of sovereign countries?

Ironically enough, Tenzin's idea would work IDEALLY in Zaheer's world.

No you misunderstand, winning isn't about surviving the battle.
For The Red Lotus to succeed they would have to accomplish their goal, and they could have done that even in death. Whoever is holding the pen made the season end the way they wanted it to, and as a result they missed out on telling a genuinely amazing story. It could have been better, it could have been so much better.

Then mission still accomplished?

From what we've seen after the fight, Korra might not even be able to bend. She can't stand, she can hardly make facial expressions.

She is broken, now I don't know how long that will last, but considering she hasn't Avatar State'd herself back to normal nor Katara hasn't swung buy to heal Korra up, we can assume it's pretty serious.

The poison was Mercury, Quicksilver. You shouldn't ever be in physical contact with it, let alone let it sit in your system, then get all fucking heated up, just making the toxins work faster.

Also Asami going after Korra would be baller as shit.

Not because of 'oooohh lesbians' but because of the setup being there.

Asami and Korra have both had a crappy relationship with a guy, got suuuper close, they were more chummy than anyone else in either of the shows in Season 3, then Asami presumably takes care of Korra for 2 weeks straight, maybe more and bam, Asami grows romantic feelings.

Seems plausible.

Man Tumblr doesn't do alot of things right, but that .gif is really good.

Reminds me of Digimon Tamers where Jerry was real hype then shit happened and she was like legit broke for the rest of the series.

nothing worse then getting hype then broken
it's legit depressing even with fictional characters

Even better when it goes "broken>some hype>broken>amped up>fully broken"

See Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Also it's really really really cool to see Zaheer do what Aang could not.

As P'li kicked the bucket, Zaheer let go of his worldly attachments and attained flight, hinted at true enlightenment.

Also I'm pretty sure earthbending girl who saved Korra's dad is Red Lotus.

Not really, you're not thinking of the bigger picture here.
The Avatar spirit still exists, Raava and Vaatu are still separated. These major imbalances in their world still persist. The mission of The Red Lotus is to achieve true balance and freedom. Zaheer was radical, ruthless, and misguided, but the basis of his ideals was still mostly just.

In this season there was a way for both the good guys and bad guys to succeed. I believe that this way is the ideal path that the story could take. Unfortunately the writers don't know it, or if they do they choose not to take it.
