The Steven Universe Thread! [SPOILERS]

some one be a little clingy after a certain breakup... yikes...

do you think Jasper would make a deal to try to stay on Earth just so she can stay near Lapis despite her protests?
Mmm maybe I don't know. I'm hearing Pearl about Sardonyx vibes here and I don't know how to take it.

Also I noticed that picture even got the part about Lapis's bow being lined differently than the rest of her body, which is consistent with the video

AAUHGUHGUHGH.

KEVIN IS OFFICIALLY 50 TIMES WORST THAN MARTY UGH

It's tru. Marty is ignorantly selfish but Kevin is max douche level

also I don't want to be a party pooper but Stevoni wasn't actually doing Drifts... she was only doing PowerSlides... yeaaaaaaaah.

you know I can't tell you.

I seriously can't. just look it up when you get some free time.
Come on, man.

Just tell me.

Is it...

Is it

Annie?

oh DDB you and your love for little Annie.

No, no it's not Annie, but she does have green as part of her colour scheme. A nice... bright... GREEN. Almost... like a type of soft gem stone... hmmmmmm

i wonder... *crunches on some chips*

hmmm these are quite good...

Spill da beans, boi.

Pretty sure it's Annie

So there is a differences between a cracked gem and a corrupted gem...
Man this episode is really sad.
Diamonds confirmed to use some sort of global corrupting weapon to wipe out all gems remaining on Earth
Centipeetle eventually reverts back to her monster form, but is reunited with her old corrupted crew mates

Well, she seems nice.

A captain's first priority is always the ship's crew.

A sad, but sweet episode...I wish she had been able to return to Gem form though...maybe once the Diamonds are cracked. ^w^

like Garnet said, a tear in the fabric of one's mind. If only Steven had the ability to go into another's mind, and do it consistently enough to do it twice within the same week. Sigh, oh well!

i hope we get back to the good captain quicker than, when was her last appearance, 3 years?

also i sorta like her zorak face

Next episode is a Lapis episode, then we got another cute episode.
Next week, however, we've been warned about
A SU producer has expressly begged us NOT to read spoilers for week 3 of Summer of Steven. because it's gonna be BIG.
Even the episode titles on wikipedia are making me go "Uh oh."
So please, just this once, quell your curiosity and don't spoil yourself

Get Rekt, Jasper sympathizers.

I've actually seen a ton of Jasper sympathizers earlier on and I just wanted to remind everyone that Jasper still has 0 redeeming factors or traits shown thus far. Some people felt the abusive relationship thing was a bit on the nose here, but honestly, I think people maaaaay have missed it before.

We're in agreement Lapis is the overall abuser right

Especially the part where she said "I liked taking everything out on you"

They are both abusers and victims to each other.

I understand and acknowledge that this is true. But... I'm wondering if the episode knew that?

Like... The episode goes on bullet point format on what Lapis has done wrong, and Lapis acknowledges she was the aggressor in the Malachite bit and all that. Okay. But Steven goes on to say that Jasper is terrible and the episode writes Jasper as she was the real abuser all along or something. It doesn't feel like the writers wanted Lapis to be at fault.

Like Lapis admits that she misses Jasper cause they were fused for so long, and a lot of people compared it to stockholm syndrome. So when I was watching and saw Jasper come up and beg to fuse again I was like "Oh, okay. So Steven will realize they're both traumatized and they're a lot more similar than he thinks, leading to how to resolve the issue." But no, they punch her into the ocean and shelf her (again). I didn't feel like... anything got resolved?

I've just got a real uncomfortable feeling in my gut watching this episode, it didn't feel like it went through right. And this is subject matter you cANNOT FUCK UP ON, which is why it could be considered extra bad, considering its being shown to children.

How interesting... There was some parts I missed because My dad kept chatting away during the heavy bits.
So Here's what I see: Lapis realizes she was the aggressor, and doesn't want to be with Jasper again since she realized how Toxic they were to each other. Jasper takes her anger out on Steven, thinking that he was the reason she made that decision. Lapis protects steven with big old water punch.

OK, context shifts a bit, but now its even more interesting. Jasper isn't just going to be simply shelfed, especially with some of the leaked titles from last month. I'm pretty sure this is going to get touched on again. But here's the important thing to get out of this: Lapis realizes that what they had was toxic and cuts the relation off there. She even says it wasn't healthy! She realizes that while Jasper put so much strain on her, she used Jasper as a scapegoat for her pain and hate, and didnt want to be in that loop any longer

Jasper kept trying to push the issue to come back, which is where Steven says to back off. No means no after all. Thats when Jasper attacked. She wasnt out to beat the evil abuser, just to protect Steven from harm.

I think many people could benefit from a couple extra viewing of this, its a really intriguing episode. Jasper and Lapis issues will come back again, I know it. We still have a lot more complexity to unearth from Jasper, so look forward to that

Catch them, Catch them, gotta catch them all! Gotta catch them all, CORRUPTED GEMS~!

after this episode anyone who is still on the "Redemption Jasper" Wagon can officially fuck off.

I CAN NOT see her joining the crystal gems after what she did. and her last line: "Jaspers never give up, and we only stop once we've got what we want." is basically telling us is that Jasper is only going to stop once she dies.

I have a feeling that if Jasper is going to be redeemed, it'll be moments before she gets killed off. Otherwise, probably not. I was hoping she would, though.

no not even that. That would not be in Jasper's character to have herself redeemed just before she is shattered.

I'm officially worried about Amethyst now, especially given the old placeholder episode titles from a while ago.
I think we're all gonna be crying in roughly two weeks

Ninja, i undderstand what your coming from, but when the creators explicitly say Jasper is part of the SU family, and constantly mentions she is a complicted character, AND is on the cover of poster with all the other good gems.... You'd think they might be implying something.

I dont care either way as long as we get to drag Jasper along the way.
