Toonami Thread

Toonami's next show!

Here comes the new king of bleeps?

I own the whole series on dvd and the manga. It's in my top five action shows of all time. Can't wait to see it again on Toonami.

from what i read, it was originally licensed by geneon and then they went out of business and funimation picked up the rights

Yes, but the dubbing was done by Ocean Studios who helped dubbed Roberta's Blood Trail last year after Funimation got the rights back in 2012. Funimation picked up over thirty titles and continued getting the unfinished seasons by Geneon in 2008 after they went out in 2007.

"Truly adult action" oh my.

So iirc:
FLCL to be replaced by Samurai Jack
SAO to be replaced by Blue Exorcist
Soul Eater to be replaced by Black Lagoon
FMA running a 3rd time...
IGPX I have no idea.

Poor FLCL :(....though Samurai Jack is a really good show.
FLCL is super short though so it cant be on TV forever.

I want it to be forever T_T

There's nothing wrong with it being replaced. It ran twice, and now the block has to move on. Let a show sit for too long and people stop caring. Like FMA...

FMA and IGPX need to be replaced asap, but it might not happen for awhile since those timeslots are low priority. Star Wars (is that still on?) can stay for now since it's a good transition to regular CN.

Yeah I know. Besides I have it on DVD if I ever want to watch it lol (I need to find the blu ray)

Even if I like FLCL, it would be cool to see some new shows. Toonami has lots of potential.

the thing is that toonami is kinda starting from square one. adult swim has been seeing a lot of success from it but it still needs more time for them to get more money for more shows.

I doubt it will be on toonami without some heavy editing.

My friend suggested I watch Log Horizon since it's basically what SAO should have been. Has anyone else seen it?

My friend (who bugged me to hell and back about SAO) has seen it and has said the same thing. More in-depth, more gaming goodness, and more everything SAO should have been. Gonna get around to it eventually.

I've already seen SAO and while it was kind of "eh, it was okay", they had so much they could have done with it. Both worlds in SAO are pretty cool but we throw that all aside so we can rush through them as fast as possible. I honestly would not have minded if this show had a bunch of filler just to explore the worlds the characters are in. I want to see Klein be the supposed badass he is (apparently no one on his crew died throughout the time spent in SAO) and I want to see Silica be competent on her own and be an awesome beast master. Not sure if that actually happens but dammit that would be cool to see if done right. But no, let's spend time revolving around a hero who we don't actually get to see level up to absurd levels or have any actual challenges thrown his way.

My friend and I were watching it up until the episode before Kirito beats SAO. He pretty much had the same opinion: everything felt rushed and he wanted to see Kirito get actual development.

Really glad Space Dandy and all those new shows will be showing up on Toonami. Everyone's favorite dandy man has really kept my attention focused on Toonami. Kinda fell out of the loop after awhile before SAO started up.

Oh if only Panty and Stocking could be on toonami...but the censoring would be astronomical.

I don't see why not. Last week's episode of Space Dandy (and SAO for that matter) was on PSG levels of lewdness.

This is pretty much my point on why SAO has too many haters: The company who got the rights to make the anime version, didn't give a shit. All they wanted was to throw out a quick cliffs' notes so it could cash-in. (I remember thinking about a few episodes in that this felt rushed) It should've been handled by someone who wanted to make a proper adaptation.

That said, here's another example of what SAO should've been: I don't usually throw around or recommend fanfics but I was bored and wanted to see if someone could do this series better justice, especially where ALFHeim is involved. Sure enough, I found this:

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8679666/1/Fairy-Dance-of-Death

I've been reading it all week. Far better executed than what we got if you ask me.

Uh not SAO. Don't get me wrong, it was unpleasant and made me angry but that's tame compared to what Space Dandy had that night. I've seen some nasty shit, believe you me.

Ok best Space Dandy episode yet with how they handled the whole zombie
angle.

The whole 2nd half with the narrator monologe had me laughing tons.

"For some inexplicable reason we have an urge to go to the mall"
That was the best line

West coast always getting the short end of the stick :(

once again, space dandy starts on a pretty normal premise on the first half of the episode, then goes into FRIGGIN' BRILLIANT territory in the second half.

and SAO . . . it seems pretty exciting (if also super insane) until we were reminded that Sugu is from Shelbyville.

Today's episode of Space Dandy was really really weird.

Also, I can deal with FLCL being off the air again. We'll get it back again...eventually.
I mean, I can watch it whenever.
I got that shit on Blu-Ray

So I'm heavily disappointed Cowboy Bebop is no longer on the line up (because I can't easily get to my DVD box set atm).

FLCL - I still don't understand this shit.

Also recognized Colleen Clinkenbeard on Soul Eater. Now I'm interested. Is this show any good?

I loved Soul Eater, but a lot of people will tell you that it isn't any good because it deviated too far from the orginal story in the manga. They're right that the story in the manga is much better, but I still think that the anime is a very enjoyable watch. Plus it's got this fantastic character.

Missed Space Dandy, will give thoughts on that later.

Tonight's episode of SAO though...oh god..

Fucking hilarious how bad it is. First Kirito repeatedly runs into an invisible wall like a bug into a window, then he gets killed, and then his sister finally realizes who he is, and the amazingly hilarious awkwardness begins.
This sums it up best:

Soul Eater isn't finished yet, but so far it's pretty good. There's a slow part around episode 30 ish which continues for quite a while, but once it gets back into the action again I assume it picks up. I say assume cause tonight's episode was that episode in which it got back to business, and it was a lot better than the last few weeks.

How many episodes are there? So far, the animes I've been in to have been pretty short runs. I'm not looking for Bleach-like shit with 200+ episodes or whatever it's at :D

Man, that episode of Space Dandy was...pretty depressing LOL

I love how George Romero's name actually appeared at the end, I would of laughed my ass off if they somehow got him to help write this episode LOL.

Overall, enjoyable episode. Them nurses were fucking hot @o@

That is a character whom you will both love and hate at the same time.

The show is a very healthy 51 episodes, it has some fillers but they're good fillers.

"That" is the funniest thing in all of Soul Eater.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think there are 52 episodes total, and tonight's was 44. The aforementioned slow part starts in the late 30s.

Not on Toonami, but saw the Trigun movie on it a couple Saturdays ago and it got me in to the series. Now that I'm done with it, can someone just please ease my heart and agree with me that Wolfwood and Spike of Cowboy Bebop are living it up somewhere on an island with a bottle of scotch? I DON'T ACCEPT THEIR DEATHS.

Shit, that's not bad at all, 51 episodes. I could totally do that. Now to hope that it's on Netflix and maybe I can do some catching up on my days off.

I'm sorry, but I've got no one to talk to at the moment, and Naruto is on now and I can't take this show seriously or watch it without thinking of this.
Oh man I remember watching this in high school!

That's when my friend showed it to me! Was in high school! lol

I've heard mixed things about Ghost in the Shell, but the few episodes I saw in the past, it wasn't too bad. Opinions? Worth watching? I probably won't stay up late enough to catch it tonight.

(is that fucking Colleen Clinkenbeard again?! on the currently showing FMA)

EXCUSE ME! you forgot one crucial detail about that character!

you forgot that he is voiced by everyone's favorite everybody, Troy Baker.
(he's so dreamy) (no homo, even though everyone is gay for Troy Baker)
