i just watched the trailer on aniplex's youtube channel

Sarah is really good as nonon. The others are at differing levels of goodness.

But I figure I can't really judge too hard because its only a short 3 minutes from episode 1 and VAs tend to start out not so great because it takes a few episodes to for them to get a feel for their roles.
 
Everyone except Senketsu are absolutely perfect. When I saw that Patrick motherfucking Seitz was voicing Gamagoori I grinned like a doofus, it's a perfect fit.

And I'm glad Nonon still has a total sex voice, it's very faithful to Mayumi Shintani.

Actually, I'm gonna have to knock some points off for how boilerplate-sounding it is. S'kinda lazy. I know they're trying to stay true to the original subs so the neckbeard okatus won't complain (which is fucking stupid because they always will complain about dubs) but still.

Fuck.

That seems to be how it goes a lot, unfortunately. KLK is a hotblooded show, but English is just gonna sound different.

Oh, well. Complainers will be complainers. My only issue is that Senketsu sounds too "young", but aside from that I think it sounds pretty nice overall. Sarah as Nonon is godlike.

Isn't that the point of dubs? To translate and localize it so it makes sense to the foreign audience?

Besides, none of the jokes I know of are in the preview, so I'm wondering how they're gonna do the DTR joke.
In case you didn't know, the name of the DTR robot is a infamous redlight district in Japan, that's why he abbrivates it to DTR to not call it a hookerbot.
 
I thought the point of dubs is to make it how the character would sound like if they spoke that language.
If it was your case, then Goku would have a high-pitched English voice.
 
Oh god no....not Japanese goku...NO! NOOOOO!

But I'm not really feeling Gamagoori's English VA, and is it just me or does Satsuki have a little bit of a country accent(not that I'm complaining)?
Then again I probably won't watch the whole English dub anyway. I already watched it in Japanese, and I'm not much of a consume twice kind of guy(though there are exceptions).
I also think Ryuko sounds a little too boy-ish, but I'll probably get used to it. no problem~
oh and I don't know if this was confirmed already, but I mean considering it's an aniplex anime, there's an English dub out of left field, and a few other mist-thin factors my mind smooshed together, this is probably going to be licensed(broadcast?) by AS and then all of America will know not to lose their way! I look forward to it!
