The Steven Universe Thread! [SPOILERS]

I love the soundtrack of the show, especially Opal's theme. That's one of my top favorites.

I actually looks like maybe someone uploaded the all the songs from Steven Univee? I don't know if it's complete, but here's the playlist. I'm probably going to listen to this a lot.

All this music is making me want to sit down and watch the show. Dammit, they found my biggest weakness.

Actually, since I've been listening to that playlist this whole time, I noticed a possible hint at an exciting future fusion?
"I know that we can be strong in a real way" Fusion yo? Pearl and Steven. Stevearl. Pearteven.

everything about this Theme and the entire ocean gem episode was godlike. Easily the best IMO

yoo @anyone who can answer this. i'm sure i've watched every episode except for 'cheeseburger backpack', so i'm assuming that's where the whole sea spire thing happens?? i got a little confused watching 'the test' 8(

Oh, Cheeseburger Backpacckkkkk...That reminds me, I kinda hated Steven in the beginning of the show because it only displayed his incompetence and for a second, I thought it wouldn't have a genuine plot, it would just consist of The Crystal Gems pickin' up Steven's slack and him just creating problems for them (that would be the "comedy" I suppose) but I was relieved to discover there is actual development and growth among the characters. Just makes me love and appreciate SU a lot more.
 
Watching the first episodes right after watching the newest ones gives the oddest feeling. It's mostly the animation I guess
 
Oh, I saw an interesting fan theory about this show. I guess the main gems all have stars somewhere on them, but none of the other gems (Lapis, Peridot) have stars anywhere on their body or clothes. I can't guess at what significance it could have, but they suggested the main gems were part of a rebel force (which doesn't make sense to me exactly, but whatever).

Pearl has gone over so many re-designs, man. The current one is the best, but I like the first dress more. Also they made the stars a bit more subtle
 

Show has the best soundtrack but this part of the test was amazing.

When I first watched Steven Universe, I was so glad to learn that my initial expectations were not only wrong, but wrong in the exact opposite way I expected.

The commercials for Steven Universe did it a HUGE disservice when the show was starting to air on Cartoon Network. Chopping up all of Steven's most "annoying" (outside of their actual context) dialogue and mashing it together into a montage did little to entice me, and led me to believe that the Crystal Gems (besides Steven) were probably goddamn awesome, but Steven himself would be The Scrappy.

After my friend recommended the show to me, I realized that Steven Universe was not only amazing, but Steven himself is one of the best child characters in any recent cartoon. He is such a well-written, well characterized, lovable kid, to the point of easily being my favorite character in the show.

I still really need to get caught up. The episodes I've watched have been out of order, and the last one I watched was Lion 3.

I mean it's a pretty well accepted idea that the cookie cat story is a metaphor for the crystal gem's backstory, so... shit.

Rebecca said somewhere (forgot where so unfortunately no source) that the reason the style seems to change often is that she wants each episode to showcase the storyboarders' style to make it more personal

I've been thinking about this a bit. The only thing i can think of to refute this idea is that they've all shown that they love the earth (except Amethyst, I think). It would be a pretty cool plot twist to have our gems be evil instead of Lapis/Peridot/et al but i can't see it right now and let's be honest, it's much more likely they'll go for the more boring, expected outcome

Well, it is a cartoon, not an anime. lol :p

Also don't think it is that black and white if you get my drift. I wouldn't call Lapis evil...the things she was saying didn't strike me as that. Probably just a differ in views and such. Now, Peridot...she was quite a betch. I think she is like a commanding officer or something, the way GAP were afraid of her and all.

Not like that, I highly doubt the gems would be straight up evil. More that once steven gets the whole story, he may find their actions in the whole gem war (or whatever the event that caused the crystal gems to become fugitives and leave the gem planet forever is called) a little too questionable and possibly even side with the other gems.

How was Peridot a bitch? She didn't do anything really wrong or evil, she was just a little uncaring towards her drones. Nothing particularly evil about her.
 
Peridot's jarring lack of empathy is just something that hasn't been encountered in the series up to that point
even Lapis Lazuli showed more emotion, and she was fairly single-minded.

y'know, I couldnt get into steven universe. I guess I just caught some bad episodes. I wasn't a fan of hamburger backpack and ANY episode involving the fry shop family. I did see the one with that cannon and the episode where they revealed fusions, which were alright.
 
I won't lie, the music atmosphere is fantastical.


This song has a very "End credits" vibe relevant to Skullgirls. Something about the melodic feel to it makes me think it can fit well in the Skullgirls OST.

Did I mention this is my favorite track by far?
