Update: The compatibility patch is out now, 360 users now have Skullgirls Encore! Squigly and Big Band DLC are out in the store and waiting for you!

To everyone's surprise, a title update for Skullgirls on XBox 360 has appeared without any warning!
This is piece 1 of getting your Skullgirls Encore package. Piece 2, the Compatibility Pack DLC which has to be downloaded manually from the Marketplace, has not yet appeared. We will update you once it has.

It's so close...
[prebreak][/prebreak]
This update will include the update to Skullgirls Encore, Squigly and her stages and story, along with Big Band and his stage and story. Both will be free DLC to download for the first 3 months of their release. While PC and some PSN regions have had Squigly for some time, 360 owners will have first dibs on Big Band if all goes according to keikaku*.

From Skullgirls Facebook page
Attention Xbox 360 Skullgirls fans! We have an update for you! A real update! But it's a little bit strange...

Sometime today there was a Title Update for Skullgirls on Xbox360! This is one of two things required for the game to get updated to Skullgirls Encore. The second thing needed is the mandatory Compatibility Pack DLC, which you have to manually download.

So far, only the Title Update has been released by Microsoft. We're not sure when the Compatibility Pack DLC will come out, but we hope it's soon.

This is a very good indication that THE XBOX360 VERSION HAS BEEN APPROVED and we should see Encore out soon, but we've contacted Microsoft for answers and will continue to monitor the situation.

We assume that the Squigly and Big Band DLC is right around the corner!

This was a complete surprise to us. We only found out because several fans here on Facebook and on Twitter reported it!

*Editor's Note: Keikaku means plan.

What is up with companies not telling LabZero about updates of their own game?

It's the keikaku.

Summon the exorcists!!! Time to lift a curse!!!

ohhhhh holymothershitgoddammit.

finally. now i might be able to get someone to play with me at casuals (nobody has ps3 stick)

time to boot up my ol' 360

and there's a 7mb patch download followed by "You need the newest compatibility update to play online!" message on game start up. but this update isn't online yet . . .

so, yeah, i think THINGS ARE HAPPENING :O

I don't know how Microsoft's XBL service works in this regard, but once you clear their tests do they need to wait for the publisher's go ahead before putting a product onto the actual marketplace? This is good news that the Xbox patch but man does it seem like someone just wasn't paying attention. Unless this was all Lab Zero's actual plan!

This was certainly not our plan. We hoped to get an actual confirmation ahead of time so we wouldn't be scrambling to figure out what's going on. We hope that everything we're waiting for - the Squigly/Big Band/Compatibility Pack/Color Pack DLCs - will come out really soon.

question, can I delete the old compatibility pack after i get the new one

To be fair, I did ask Microsoft to put the patch out as soon as possible.

When I said that, though, I expected they would put the Title Update and the corresponding Compatibility Update out at the same time. I mean of course they did this and effectively broke everyone's game in the process.

This is seriously infuriating, but also entirely predictable given how incompetent they've been.

The compatibility packs are cumulative, so we want there to only ever be one compatibility pack at a time. Because we do want new people to buy the game, and not have to download 10 things to play it.

So you should delete the one you have now, and download it again when it updates to the new version.

oh sweet. i also see from the facebook page that we may even get fukua before the eliza update. was this something decided recently?

Looks like the curse will never end.

I mean, at least we're all pretty much getting it at the same time, right?
No Slightly Different Edition mishaps.
It's only two days, anyways.
So, I'm happy. Happy That I Won't Stab Myself Waiting For Squigly

I'm hoping XBox gets it first, they sorta deserve it even if it's only a day or so earlier.

And er, the SDE mishap in this case is that XBox didn't get Squigly at all till now. Heh?

Yeah, let's just be glad this time it was about 1/6 as long as the SDE mishaps.
~*[Encore Woo]*~
Though, until we get the compatibility update, I'm calling this "Slightly Returned To The First Version Of The Game Edition" or SRTTFVOTGE for short.

Yay! Glad to see this update is going to go better than SDE, even if this Compatiblity Update delay is rather annoying.

The fact that the Title Update part exists means the rest of it is coming pretty soon, whenever it's back to being the work-week in Japan I hope, since they wouldn't have put the TU out until it all was approved. So there's that.

Right now, I am very happy that people on the Xbox 360 will get the update sometime soon after spending some time in limbo.

This is fair! the Xbox owners wainting so long and now can take the news soon!

Shhhh... dont say it! Dont call the bad luck back... we are trying to exorcise this!

Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica...
Ergo, draco maledicte et omnis legio diabolica, adjuramus te ... cessa decipere humanas creaturas, eisque æternæ perditionìs venenum propinare...
Vade, satana, inventor et magister omnis fallaciæ, hostis humanæ salutis...
Humiliare sub potenti manu Dei; contremisce et effuge, invocato a nobis sancto et terribili nomine... quem inferi tremunt...
Ab insidiis diaboli, libera nos, Domine.
Ut Ecclesiam tuam secura tibi facias libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos.

Curse go away pls

Okay so I tried downloading this, and then I went to play Skullgirls again. Then my xbox said I don't have the latest patch and I need to download it, resulting my Skullgirls reverting back to pre-SDE days. I kept redownloading the patch to no avail. I deleted Skullgirls and reinstalled it to see if that would fix the problem, but now the "Play Now" option is gone entirely. So basically now I have no Skullgirls.

Halp.

I'm just glad that i have a reason to go back to the fourms.^.^

Please read the rest of the thread. The situation has been explained already.

The gist of it, though, is that until the (free) Compatibility Pack DLC is released - which we expect to happen on Monday - everyone who downloads the update has their game reverted to the pre-SDE version. The Compatibility Pack DLC will fix everything and update your game to Skullgirls Encore. Downloading the update as you did WILL NOT affect your ability to get the Compatibility Pack DLC and have things work correctly.

Until Microsoft releases the Compatibility Pack DLC, though, there is nothing anyone can do to help. :[

I would probably buy Skullgirls Encore on Xbox 360 just cause I can.
Totally be worth it.
