We see a lot of love for the 2D fighters. (Skullgirls, Street Fighter, Mahvel, etc etc) But what about the fighters where you can step to the side? How about we show some love for the 3D brand of fighters!~

I used to play Tekken 2 and 3 at a friends house when I was a kid, and I never thought about those games since. Years later, Me and my brothers got a PS2 for christmas. being that my brothers we're huge sports fans we got a lot of sports games with it that didnt really interest me, then we got a game that we didn't even ask for (at least I didn't), Virtua Fighter 4. THIS GAME got me into fighting games! the simplicity of 3 buttons mixed with the complex yet pick-up-and-play feeling! I played that game more than any other! it was like MAGIC! the stages had walls that could be broken and you left footprints in the snow and they stayed! it blew my mind. I mainly played Lei Fei cuz he was a cool looking monk guy, but I also played Jacky and Lion (even though I hated his voice). When I picked up VF5 Final Showdown, I fell in love with my favorite 3D fighter again. But I haven't really played Lei Fei, and have been playing Vanessa, Jacky, and recently Jean.

The sad part of my love for this game is how unpopular it is here. Most people prefer Tekken and I never really liked the feel of Tekken, what with the focus on juggling and the longer fights. I recently have been playing DOA5U: Core Fighters, and love the mechanics behind it. I set the buttons to how I play Virtua Fighter and I love it! I've bought Hitomi, Tina, and Helena. Gone up a few ranks too!

Go ahead and leave your thoughts on 3D fighters!

The only 3D games I really played kinda competitively is SC2 and 3 (I need to practise my VC combos though). Xianghua is my main in both games. SC4 felt way too slow for me to actually bother. Haven't played SC5 long enough to say anything about it. But anyway, I'm eagerly waiting for SC2HD.

I'm with you on Tekken games feeling stiffier even though T3 was my first 3D fighter. But I do like watching some TTT2 matches. Wavedashing, backdash cancelling, assist coming out of nowhere and overall high damage make for some pretty frantic fighting.

I have yet to play VF games extensively even though I have VF4Evo and VF5FS.

The DOA series doesn't really interest me. Even though the girls are super hot, there's something about the gameplay that I can't identify yet that don't click with me.

Bushido Blade was pretty cool. I only played BB2 though. Deadliest Warriors feels like its spiritual successor. Does anyone still play this? I like using the ninja and the viking.

I've played some other 3D fighters (Bloody Roar 1, Battle Arena Toshinden, Fighter Megamix) but that was a really long time ago and I don't really remember much of it.

I wish there'd be some miracle and SCII could get popular enough to get big streams, it's probably the most fun to watch 3D fighter of all time. Combos are really short, there's a fair amount of "zoning" with the big reach differences between characters, lots of ring-outs, etc. Tekken, VF, and to a lesser extent newer SCs are terrible to watch because 99% of the neutral is about reads in the heads of the two players you have to be extremely tuned in to see and the newer Namco games have long boring combos.

Sc2 minus the glitches and a and b spam... And turtling... Lol. Is one of the best fighting games ever made.
Bar none.

If you want to see the a and b spam, look up jd ok and the sc2 nationals finals between fetz and kageh. If you want to see the turtling, look up jf keith, if you want to see skill, look up aris. If you want to see domination look up semi.

I was deep in the SoCal sc2 arcade scene for the first year it was out (alladdins castle in del amo mall and Lakewood mall arcade), until 2g glitch came out and basically invalidated a lot of SoCal playstyles.

I really have fallen behind on 3D Fighters in general.
The last Tekken I played was Tekken 4 (Since playing Heihachi in PSASBR simply doesn't count), and the last Soul Calibur I played was 2.
I would like to get back into them, though. Especially considering how boss I've realized Heihachi is.

I like 3D fighters(not more than 2D though), but the only one I've played enough to be decent at is Dead or Alive. I've played almost all the Tekkens(except TTT2), Bloody Roar (can't remember which one), and Soul Calibur(except the first one), but I'm not really competitive at them. If there is one game that will get me back into 3D fighters again it probably has to be Tekken x Street Fighter.

I'm watching a stream of SC2 HD. It says that this is based on the PAL version which apparently has glitches.

Anyone know what sort of glitches?

Based off the European Version, basically
I guess I didn't edit my post fast enough. Anyway I already know that much, but apparently there are glitches.

Soul Calibur 5 is great and the character customization is great. Story is okay at best (I really don't see the incest people are talking about.) and its about 20 bucks online.

I really like TTT2, but I haven't played it in 4 months. My main team is Kunimitsu/Feng Wei. I don't understand people complaining about the long combos in it, when they're like 10 seconds long on average. They are still shorter than the ones you see in old versions of SG. I'm happy that I don't have to grind in Tekken Revolution to unlock Feng, Kunimitsu, Miguel nor Lee, but I'm not sure about going back to that game. One of my pet peeves with Tekken is the throw break system. My reactions are not fast enough to see if it's a left arm/right arm throw.

I also played VF5:FS, but that was a year ago. I liked the game, but I HATE it when fighting games have ring outs and separate block buttons. I know VF5 is only 3 buttons unlike MK9's 7 buttons (I'm not counting 8, because I don't see the point of the Stance Switch), but I still hate block buttons and I think all fighting games (Both 2D and 3D) should get rid of it.

I tried out the F2P version of DOA5U. Didn't care for it at all even if it has the Ninja Gaiden characters in it.

Soul Calibur V has some of the best character creation and customization that I've ever seen for a fighting game.
I soon realized that was why the rest of the game is not so great.

no dude, the fighting itself is really balanced and it feels really good.
Again, the story isn't that great, but I kinda like the new characters and hope we can see them a little more fleshed out, and maybe have some interaction with the old ones.

Dude I own and played the game, you don't need to tell me that. I agree that it stays true to most of the past installments of Soul Calibur as a balanced and fun game to play.
I HAAATED the story mode though, half of it was just a slideshow, that's not even a joke. I also got Mortal Kombat 9 around the same time so that probably affected my experience of it. Unfortunately all that I liked about SCV was the gameplay, multiplayer, and character creation, so it didn't last for me.

I got used to old T3/TTT where a few characters had a legit B&B of "launch, standing 4" and 99% of juggles were at most one string -> one big hit. Plus I was talking about watching and not playing, all the bounds and wallhit stuff make doing them more complex than watching them.

If the arcade glitches are in then the game is basically ass just like all the new soul caliburs. the arcade glitches were primarily 2 g which allowed a person that got there attack parried to instantly be able to block and killed slow fast parry mixups, and only allows high/low parry mixups, most of which can either be reacted to or fuzzy guarded.

The other major glitches wer Cervantes having many 80% damage or more combos by doing VERY hard timing cancel tricks with his unblockables.

But basically if you love to parry, 2g makes the game unplayable. And that makes the game pretty ass. The newer soul caliburs all give a lot less advantage from a parry and thusly make the mechanic rather wack in general, plus in newer soul caliburs, 8 way run is waaaaaay less evasive than in sc1 and 2 so newer soul caliburs play a lot more like tekken rather than soul calibur.

Some people like that, but as so,done that played both styles, soul calibur is a redundant game when 8way run is less evasive, since it takes much of the strategy out of using A attacks and instead tends to focus on B attacks.

In sc2 you had to abuse A attacks in order to setup B attacks, in newer soul caliburs though its all advantage and little strategic positioning/pinning the opponent.

But i digress

I don't think I'll get SC2 HD. I already own SC2 on PS2 and have everything unlocked in it.

But I did recently get SC5 (a few months ago). It seems pretty solid.

Also something kinda funny: I really don't care much for Pyrrha, but I really like Omega. Maybe its just the idea of a standard "cute" character with a Nightmare Arm that seems so cool.

And glowy eyes. Creepy glowy eyes.

VF 4 lyfe, nigga

Yo, a 10 seconds combo is pretty long in general.

Unless you're talking about ST, in which 10 seconds actually feel like 5 seconds lol.

Enjoying TR much more then I did with TTT2 mostly because it plays like old Tekken. One of my old mains Lee Chaolan coming back too. Lars still my current go-to with Lili for certain matchups though. New vampire girl character also coming soon.

SC games always go with my main man Siegfried for better or for worse. Might pick up the single player Lost Swords mainly because he is one of the few shown playable.

DoA5 still getting support since launch with at least another update in the horizon since Marie rose was confirmed for consoles at a later date. Went with Ein and lesser extent Eliot/Rig.

Yeah been playing some of the HD collection today and there seems to be some times in which when the fighters are off center, there was a scene in which my Talim was suppose to be drilled in the air by Voldo but if it ended up looking as though Talim was levitating in the air spinning while Voldo was just raising his hand... it was kinda funny.

I'm just really sad that the Online is so bareboned, no lobbies, no rematch option in player matches and no Team battle online option. Still, I would recommend for anyone who wants to play Spawn or Hehachi if you didn't play either of the two of the series and the netcode seems pretty good from the online matches I've played in.
