The problem with bioshock 2 is that is was a rushed sequel made by a differet studio. Too many resources were wasted trying to make it a multiplayer game and it suffered greatly.
BioShock 2 gets a bad rap. It has much MUCH better combat gameplay than the first game (and some would argue its even better than Infinite).
BioShock 1 has a great AMAZING story until the twist shows up and everything kinda falls off. Then you fight Seth from SF4.
That said, BioShock 2 has some really fun (if overpowered) abilities. Though I mainly used Drill Dashing because its HILARIOUS.
Anyway, 2k recently removed Games for Windows Live and released a Steamworks version about a month ago, so with Steam sales, there's no reason to not at least try it.
I'd also say that I respect BioShock 2 for not attempting a twist exactly like the first game, but it did have that cool reveal moment that caught me off guard originally.
