Some of you may know me as the solo Beowulf player, but I also play a Filia and Valentine team... sometimes.

Back when I started to get into this game, Fil and Val were the ones that caught my eye. And I knew I wanted to learn them. I have a serious character dedication, so it won't be likely for me to drop them. Truth is I really don't play them all that much as of recent times, because I don't really feel confident about them. After playing with some intermediate players, I realized I really don't know what to do with them. They figured out what I wanted. I had a hard time getting in with them, seriously I have a Filia and Val that will make you cringe. Here's what I noticed.

  • Filia: I sometimes do a random air hairball Lk and airdash j.Mp as a way to "get in", I would substitute by doing c.HK and using ringlet spike, I really don't know much of her strong points, I always use instant air dash as my combo starter.

  • Valentine: Back dash and use H bypass as a way to get combos going even if I'm full screen away , I stay in the air too much, not sure how to get in, I rely too much on updo assist.

  • Beowulf (I guess) : Rely on Wulf blitzer a little too much, need to learn to use hops as a way to scare opponents, will throw out DP.

  • Role Models (Valentine): mpgame, cloudking, outlaw_spike, Shinatproof, hopscwatch, duckator, fedoraninja.
  • Role Models (Filia): duckator, wingzero.

Apparently I'm also autopiloting with Beowulf according to sage and LazyDiablos, but other than that I'm good with him. I just need to mix him up a little.

If there is any advice, I would gladly appreciate it. And maybe we can play to give some in-depth analysis. Thanks.

So I recently went into quick matches to see how well I am with Fil/Val and it wasn't great. I went in and lost several matches, even got perfected by someone, which is making me think that I suck with this team. But I'll keep trying and practicing.

Yes the autopilot I mentioned. But I feel like in the back of my mind, why change when people usually fall for it and let me do a combo. You know?
 
I recently had a set against @Clawsome Bombs and it was a good set, got a little carried away by playing more Beo than my team, but still good. If anyone else would like to help me get better, I would appreciate it, just message me on PSN or Steam.
 
(Hey finally updating this!)

I attended the defoxschool and got destroyed. Some advice they both gave me.

-Don't overuse Wulf Blitzer and keep making it unsafe.
-Don't throw my chair on random occasions.
-Learn to neutral properly with Beo, instead always using j.HP.
-And also learn not to choke no matter who I'm facing.

I also need to learn to calm down when I keep getting overpowered by my opponent and keep myself from being easy to out-fundamental.
 
I had a really fun match against @Pickles to help me with Filia, he won most of the matches, but it helped me with my neutral with her. He gave me advice about a couple of things, neutral and to mostly break my habit of using s.Hk into Ringlet Spike (L) as my blockstring.
Side note, I shouldn't be using IAD j.Lp as it passes some characters so I'll be sticking with j.Lk. Also I need to learn more than 4 resets and 2 combos i.e throw combos and an airthrow combo. And a question to anyone.

How do you deal with Peacock as Filia? Mostly I've been doing superjump Mk Hairball and air dashing to get in but it usually get punished by assists or item drop.

Jump forward air dash HK Airball (don't instant air dash, delay it). Gets you over ground bombs and past items/plane/Peacock's j.HK. If the hairball hits confirm it into Gregor.

Other important things to note:
-Your air dash moves you forward faster than level 1 item can track
-Wave dash moves forward faster than level 1 item or plane can track
-Hairball (air or ground) moves faster than level 1 items can track
-Gregor can low profile the second half of Argus
-Gregor low profiles Peacock's M Gun
-I hate this matchup
