New to Skullgirls Competitive

So, I just bought Skullgirls on Steam because it looked like a pretty neat fighting game and 2 of my friends really recommended it. Now, I'm really into this game and I want to improve my skills so that I could join the Competitive scene of Skullgirls, and I thought the best way to improve would be to watch and learn from you guys. Currently, I'm taking it slow and learning one character at a time, and so I'm starting with Filia as she's pretty easy to use in my opinion. So yeah, I hope to be a good contributor to this community and to learn from you guys. Any tips for Filia and who would be a good character to learn next would be awesome.
