Skullgirls Stage & Background Discussion

Im loing BB's stage, can't wait for NPC's and everything else

some thoughts on the new stage:
- i wish i could read the text on the salt truck.
- the girders on the bridge in the far background look pretty low res
- the boat is named Anna K. a reference to the background from the old old version of the game?
- over all it looks really nice.

anyway, i know its not complete, so i look forward to further improvments

I'm pretty sure the stage isn't finalized right? As in they'll make some details here and there better? Or was it stated to be fully finished? (I missed the stream so I don't know -3-)

its not done. still needs more work and NPCs.

there is a certain noir appeal in a desolate cityscape on an overcast day.

I guess I must be in the minority hoping that Big Band's stage is NPC-free or, at least, has very few of them.
But that's me, I like stages with few or none NPCs (I don't mind "sorted crowds" like the people attending mass in the Trinity cathedral though).

You can count me somewhat in that minority as well Balder.

My top 3 stages are currently River King Casino, Medici Tower and Maplecrest. Though by the looks of things, Under the Bridge might be replacing Maplecrest when it's finished.

while watching one of the stream archives of making the color palettes, i gotta ask again:

can they remove the lighting volumes from a single stage? i just want to see what the colors look like by unaltered and the character select versions are too tiny.

Considering that when Mike was talking about how unfinished it was, he also mentioned that it has "no NPCs", I don't think the stage will remain NPCless. That's just speculation on my part, though.

I like the desolate look myself, but I trust Lab Zero to be smart with NPC placement as they have in the past.

I agree, Chrono. But I do still hope there's more to an empty version than just the same stage sans NPCs. A noir color scheme, maybe a sunset would look nice (it'd even kind of evoke the Yagami Team's stage from KoF '95), or even just that snowy one Zazz mentioned in the Under the Bridge thread.

Yep. Empty Lab 8 was probably not the best example. Definitely hoping for something more like Little Innsmouth at night or Rooftops Assault.

I think that the stage should either have no NPCs or just hobos living under the bridge. So hobo NPCs yes.

I dare say it's the second coming of Hype Dog. I like it. I like it well.

NPCs like these are always welcome though part of me loathes Lab Zero's obvious anti-cat agenda.:PUN:

That dog is cute....lol I'm all for a new hype dog for skullgirls X3

Doge can't wait to see some brutal fights in a shady area.

Such Combo, much green ooze

YESSS!! I knew the stage couldn't be complete without a dog! Go dog go!

Maan, we need more anti-cat agendas on the internet!

You know what would make things better in the rail yard? Just what SFIV had:
Screaming fat children
And kids getting bullied.

Rip Chris Farley one of my favorite comedians.

My 3 favorite stages are Medici Tower, Final Atrium, and Class Notes. I really enjoy the theme in Class Notes so it's good with me.

The lab 8 orphans look really flat in the new stage. Like they are made from paper

check out the new lab 8 (empty)

now that's lookin' pretty grim

there is a new version? That's awesome I wish I had access to my PC

Great, now I'm dying of curiosity. Lab 8 [Empty] is one of my favorites so hearing that it just got better sounds quite interesting.

New Lab 8 makes me hope they'll make that Rainy Streets of New Meridian from Squigly's concept art

Ben's a 1930s Noir Detective (and Robocop) so a rainswept city street at midnight seems like a perfect fit. Also needs no NPCs.
