Who Dota here? And who of the who are the old school folk that did this in the Warcraft 3 days (shoutouts to the OGs)

I'm gonna start off by saying Midlaner Puck, roamer Slark, and Support Jakiro and Support Tidehunter are my favorites.
But especially Puck. She's/he's/they're kinda the best. IPuck's voice acting is great is awesome too.

Other cool heroes I plan on actually plaing sometime and playing more of: Sand King, Venomancer, Tusk, and Magnus.

Talk about your favorite crap, your favorite awesome moments, your favorite crappy moments, your favorite HILARIOUSLY crappy moments, post your crap and moments if you want, and if you follow DIGITAL SPORTS, talk about how terrible and amazing whoever player is and whatever team is, and while you're at it, how terrible and amazing solo ranked matchmaking is.
Shit talk other characters too, because why not (the matchups tho) and talk about strats and such.

Also, LoL players should totally be playing this game, it's kinda amazing, it's more indepth and more rewarding, I'm just saiyin'.

I'll work up some more links for amateur Dota 2 league, just in case this actually takes off and people want to team up and rock, but for now, Ittle Dew.

And in all seriousness, DO behave. I mean I know it's Skullheart I'm saying this on, but c'mon. Don't kill each other, be courteous, don't get too greedy, and good luck, have fun!

Getting slaughtered by 2 people with weapons that deal 1k~ damage is fun. Though I managed to uce CC the most out of them by luring them into other players. and letting the weaker ones go.

I use CC Puck with a little bit of buff to the health. Forgot my build for he/she/it but it's pretty good when you aim for field survivability.

I used to play a lot of dota 2 but after a while I started to realize the ratio of "fun" games to "huge poogarbage" games was heavily skewed to the latter for me, so I stopped.

My favorite hero was Rubick, but lots of others are pretty fun to play.

The struggle is real. It really is a think with the lower tiers of ranked systems, it just tends to be booty.
Like CS:GO for example, #SILVERSURFERS forever.

I feel it. Now, while almost nobody does 1k damage a hit unless it's like Sniper with Crits and a chain lighthning and a damn Rapier, Puck is yeah, particularly one of my favorites because, of that, and everything. Puck's got incredible mobility, projectile dodging, teleportation, silencing, nukes, and a Ultimate that keeps folks in place for awhile while ministunning at first, and stunning if they break the coil. So good.

My old Puck guide, I haven't updated it in forever mind you but I still think it's great. It could use some more description detail on why such and such works and so, but eh.

Tried once more with Defense Puck, CC Stun is SO OP. I mean, that's a Whole 20 seconds of opportunity to kill your opponent there.
While the DoT is not good, the stun makes up for it by letting me deal and stack minor procs to them.
Also, for Magnus, should I aim for damage or for mobility? the weapons look so tempting to be gathered and used, but his mobility is close to crap its almost not worth it to tank the front lines.

I honestly have no idea or experience with Magnus, but I mean, he's just, a beefy STR tank and his ult Skewer is awesome and great for initiating

But beyond this, I still have no idea

I dunno, I got into the Dota 2 beta, but the games are too long, there's a bit too many little extra things to keep an eye on, not to mention odd tactics you're expected to know by heart if you're playing a certain classes.
Might give it another chance later

Eh, there's not really any odd tactics to "know by heart", though there are some things that can spice up a game that one can really use (Like a thing called "Armlet Toggling"), but nonetheless, while the game does typically last 40+ minutes on avg per game amongst regular players, that's not too shabby. Hell CSGO, is similar, if not actually taking longer. I think LoL is similar too in game length.
Strategy can typically be handled by any player who chooses to lead the way, and the way the game is is really into teamplay. In addition to pinging, you can also draw on the minimap as if it's a football chalkboard, heh.

The heroes are really straightforward and you can usually tell what they do by just looking at 'em, or clicking on them and looking at their skills during a match, or during character select.

Dota2 really isn't super complicated as people tend to make it, it's just different I s'pose from what other players have played in other games. It also has more active items than say, LoL, where most of it's items are just stat boosts and passives.

EDIT: Oh, also, it does have a better community than LoL for the most part, though some can be shitty, and their are quite a number of foreign folk and players from around the world. The ranked system and good/bad player and report system is easier on the players who stick it and assholes, respectively.

I always enjoy teaching people things. Taught a younger sibling that really loves Dota how to play Storm Spirit a few weeks back cause he was wondering how the hell the guy works, then I showed him how cool his ult is and how it can and should be used. Didn't take him long to get zip zapping around the map killing and trolling the enemy heroes, eheheh. Was fun stuff.

whyyyyyyyyyy
and those games have some serious stupid stuff and design problems, eugh
s a d b o y s

I enjoy a lot playing Faceless Void, try to figure out why.

I only play against Unfair Bots with human matchmaking, or normal pubs if i'm invited by some friends, otherwise i don't play, i don't care about ranked or the other modes, specially if i'm solo queueing, because it usually ends like this:

But without the comeback part, there is always this one guy who feeds like crazy or is usually out of position or doesn't help at all during fights, courier stealers, mic spammers, "Carry" supports and so much more, it's even worse if you're moved to low priority.

And always only on your team!!!!!!!!!! WOW BULLSHIT I TELL YOU!!! And you are the master player who is held down by these heathens :( Stuck in MMR hell etc

it's even worse if you're moved to low priority.
Why do you get moved to low priority, though?

Timeouts, i can't play at certain times (usually between 1 pm till 10 pm) because my web is so slow i end up timing out, and when i timeout not just the game, MY ENTIRE LAPTOP freezes, so it takes me over 5 mins to get back to the game, so i get the "abandon" and i'm moved to low priority, i still think IceFrog needs to develop a method to detect when a player disconects by timeout or disconnects/abandon by himself.

Or perhaps you shouldn't play a 40 minute long game during a time where you know you are going to randomly dc and ruin the fun for 9 other people

After over 1200 hours i know when i can and can't play now, i'm not all the time in low prior you know, the dc happens rarely, very rarely, and knowing the kind of game this is, what do you mean by "fun"?

Is someone holding you at gunpoint forcing you to play DotA, or why would you have 1200 hours in a game you don't have fun in?
Sarcasm m8, i actually love the game.

Edit: just that i also know about the poisonous, toxic side of the community, specially in the latinamerican side with the bunch of peruvians going all like "agg tmr tim nub yiyi push mid el kunkka no usa lothar y no tira titanic" (you need some major spanish knowledge to understand what are they saying, and they like to give weird names to the spells and to combine spanish and english with words like "pushear", "farmear", "quitear" etc.)

Isa, can we not? Do I have to say thread rules, because I'd assume "Don't be a dick and generally shittalk people for no good reason" and "Have fun" is a general given.
Personally, I don't really care tooooo much about D/C's, I and certainly many players typically find a way to still try to win anyways, which they can very well do, unless their opponents are too fed over them or if something like a key role or key matchup isn't covered. If someone abandons, and it's a total game breaker the option to safely leave without repercussions is there too. It's a disappointing thing that happens every rare now and then, yes, but, as the saying goes, "deal with it" and c'est la vie, move on to the next game, I s'pose. Can't fault him for liking a game and wanting to play it, even if a poverty laptop tends to make it booty. "Forgive the poverty players when shit happens" should be a rule while I'm at it.

As for the whole playing with foreigners thing and people you can't really speak too, I advise picking what servers you do and don't want to play on if you haven't already, Dio Brando. lmao that video though, it's perfection.

And Isa, I'm sure that you liked this game, if not at least once upon a time, but if there's any particular salt about something, please leave it in the kitchen. Folks can still have fun.
As for Dota(2) having design problems, what do you think about it's "design problems"? Because to be frank the game is pretty damn balanced, doesn't have a terrible pay2win/grind system for characters, or LoL's dumb runes system, lordy that thing is atrocious and unnecessary but I guess it gives something else for people to pour their extra credits and or money into when they've spent forever unlocking every hero. And I would like LoL's 2 equippable skills/spells system, were it not based on your "profile" level. And I could go on. But I won't. :P

Still trying to find a way too win but enemy team too fed, heh, that pretty much was a recent 65 mins game i had, i randomed Viper and we had a Legion Commander, Storm Spirit, Lich and Bane, i was mid and i was dominating the poor Necrophos that went mid against me, but at some point our Lich disconnected and never came back, Bane left about 2 minutes after Lich got the abandon and Storm Spirit and Legion were feeding like crazy, at some poing i was already lvl 25 and with a beyond godlike streak but the enemy team had 4 lvl 25 too, and LC and SS were still around lvl 16, i told them over and over to stay close to me and i would help them farm and get kills but they didn't care, besides that the enemy team was pushing way too much (they had a Leshrac and a Venomancer), our ancient was discovered while their racks were still up, even with Manta Style i could at much take down the lvl3 top tower, by the end of the game all SS had was Soul Ring, Orchid and Bottle, LC only had Boots of Speed (not upgraded) Crystalis and Mjollnir, everytime she went for a duel i would try to help her win but she always died first, she was throwing duels with other 4 around so it pretty much ended being a 2 vs 4, SS wasn't using his Orchid at all, was a sad game but hey, i tried, and i never lost my streak.

DotA is IMHO the best MOBA out there, simply because of global mechanics like day cycles, hills, trees, turn-around animation...
It lacks the "fun aspect", tho. It is not a game that I can play with my brain turned off like I do with Heroes or League.

Yeah there is a lot to keep track on in this game, not just your farming and items, you gotta check how the rest of your team is doing and also how the enemy team is doing and what items are they bulding and stuff.

Dota 2 Reborn Beta was just announced.
A quick summary is that it will have a new interface, a new engine, and custom games.
The beta will be released in a few weeks after some of the new things are explained.

10 vs. 10 mode sounds really fun (like Team Dota 2). Time for me to finally start playing this game.

Now one can have twice the elitists on their team.

10v10 aka you are never alone.

Now one can have twice the elitists on their team.
I imagine the elitists will insist the game was balanced around 5 people on a team and refuse to touch it. I'm hoping for the TF2 atmosphere of everybody fucking around and one guy spamming "put a dispenser over here!"

Also known as the justice update.

will offlane for hats

Curiously enough, i agree with people who say the game isn't fun

The new upgrade of Quelling Blade seems awesome for AFK farming

I'm not sure how, but playing Arc Warden, this is probably the most fun I've ever had with this game.

I haven't played this game in a while and I don't plan to start again, but I will drop in to say to that the newest patch is probably, in all the history of dota, the biggest change the game has ever seen.

I was laughing my dick off for a solid 3 hours at the changes, holy shit.
So the UI is now "inspired" (read: ripped off) from League, and they added Shrines/health potions from Heroes of the Storm, as well as Talents from that too.
So even Dota 2 which is known for not changing fucking shit had to change shit because it was too hard to get into.
My sides. They ache from laughter.
