What did you like/hate from "vanilla" Skullgirls?

Squigly Lines

Don't need straight lines. Just Squigly Lines.
As the title simply suggests, for those who played during the very early stages of the game before everything got "patched", what were some of the things you liked or preferred in "vanilla" Skullgirls OR simply hated in "vanilla" Skullgirls?

"What did you hate from Vanilla Skullgirls"
What do you mean? It was the best version

vanilla is considered the worst. SDE though that was the best (or so I've heard)

Cons:
- 1 minute long combos
- Fortune losing her head when hit during some moves
- Head-on Fortune less powerfull than headless
- Val's green vial
- Painwheel lvl3 not lasting very long
- Double's Cat heads was OP
- Squigly wasn't in the game

Pros:
- .... ?

Not being able to cancel Peacock's bombs
I can only throw ONE at a time, and I CAN'T fill the screen with shit
That's just wrong

Also fuck those combos, that length was no good

When I got Skullgirls there was Biggo Bando in the beta so I dunno but I've heard around of a Peacock special that had her put eyes around the screen like Krieg tears. I'm quite curious about it

I'm having horrible flashbacks of the 360 version demo...
The things I most hated were:
-The game ran very slowly.
-Instant air dashes with a controller were practically impossible to do.

no move list in game. Worst part of vanilla. Y'all's is dumbs if you forgot about that.

The game looked very slow compared to now, and had even longer combos than SDE since IPS didn't count standing and crouching as the same normal.

Would not want back.

I kind of wish they would revert the omnom changes. I miss omnom loops. They wouldn't even be that overwhelming because of ips changes and undizzy :c

Definitely don't want vanilla doublebutt back though >.>

Today was the first time I heard about that piece of news.

I didnt quite care for:
Combos lasted for about an eternity, slow game speed, Fortune sandwich shenanigans/Om Nom Loops, CAT HEADS, Hornet bomber, lack of move lists (though that PDF was fancy), and the teeny weeny roster.

I don't really miss much from vanilla. I feel like the game's only gotten better.

Did not understand, and still don't understand why no in game move sets was a big deal. I looked them up once after picking up my character and that was all I needed. Especially a non issue considering this game doesn't really have any "weird" inputs or supers.

The game has improved a lot since Vanilla, but I'd still rather be playing that shit than 90% of the games on the fighting game market currently.

I liked Vanilla because Filia's cLK->sMK->sHK infinite let me go through and see all the combo names.

The primary thing i hated about vanilla was counter supers. Fuck that shit. And double 1 bar catheads abuse... But that didnt really take on mainstream popularity till sde, and combined with assist macro catheads made double absolutely ridiculous. I didnt have a problem with vanilla hornet bomber, personally, but then again i used hk bomber assist in vanilla... Lol.

Long combos and slow speed didnt bother me to much.

Ggpo not working correctly almost made me want to quit the game though until it got worked out.
And though i say long combos didnt bother me, it was the bnb single character combos that didnt bother me much. But the TAG (and dhc) combos bothered me greatly because the tagged in character got another full combo and could tag to yet another character and get another full combo... Which was absurd.

I'm still not the biggest fan of dizzy bar but it does accomplish things which are a net profit to gameplay, to me, so its something i can deal with pretty easy.

This is all in hindsight.

Hated:
-Actual Touch of Death combos
-HK Hornet Bomber
-H Item drop
-Empty Macro controlling Catheads
-Being able to react to Supers after the Super flash
-Boring Vanilla Filia
-No PBGC
-Old IPS
-IPS not carrying over between characters after DHCs/Tag Combos
-The original game speed
-The small or lack of a input buffer when chaining moves

Miss:
-Nom always going behind the opponent

I did like 1 bar catheads mostly because it made Double like Oro/Strider and rely mostly on chip damage for damage while not being like Peacock. Unloading all 5 meters for Catheads was obnoxious though, especially how long they lasted.

Never found out how to make the 1 meter back during a blocked Catheads Super. Mike says it existed IIRC.

I feel you on that. I played the Ps3 demo before really jumping on the Band Wagon. and oh my, did it feel...off, like it was ment to be slightly faster in feeling.

Yes it should.

Also, I kinda miss the counter super meta game. Don't particularly like or want it, but I always enjoyed watching the supers go back and forth, and then imagining someone's dismay as they went to Gregor thinking they could counter super their way out only to eat a Showstopper.

Filia combos were super restricted. Leaving players with (or at least me) with one combo. Thank god she hairball cancel.
