Street Fighter V

well now the music is actually pretty good. a hell lot better than SF4. Idk about you guys but it felt off and didn't really match up to the rest of the game.

yeah okay i get that Cody is the cool kid on the prison cell block, but in SF4 all the music just kinda bleed together and it didn't make me hyped at all. But this. Synth Rock Orchestra themes for the characters that's good it's hype. make me not want to mute the music like what i did in MvC3 and SF4. Good Thing Injustice's music was so damn quite i didn't even need to mute it in the menu options.

SF4 music was overall a hot steaming pile of garbage with the exception Solar Eclipse, African airfield, Dhalsim's them, and Cody's theme.

Just listening to the character select music alone tells me that SFV music is eons ahead of SFIV's music.

Holy crap, that's one helluva upgrade from SFIV. I'll admit there were some pretty good themes in SFIV (Cody, Cammy, Vega) but they weren't the rule. These here? A lot better. I even liked the Bison one and I never cared for his theme.

i agree with you. Music to me is a HUGE HUGE HUGE sticking point for me in fighting games. If it doesn't get me pumped, then it will fall flat on it's face for me and make my experience with the whole game a whole lot more sour. That's why I like Skull Girls, it's fun and it has great music.

It's a huge factor for me too. I mean i went salty a few pages back cause stage music again has the "danger theme" loops which I really disliked in SFIV. :P

It's also one of the reason I consider BlazBlue and Guilty Gear my main fighting games.

what if Akuma is not in the game, but the dude we saw at the end of the Ken trailer was actually Violent Ken $_$

This dude is kind of ugly
That's exactly my first thought too. Pursed lips small mouth like he just bit a lemon, bulging yellow eyes, tiny gray eyebrows yet a head full of rope-like black braids. And what looks like face paint. As others said earlier in the thread, the "V" is too obvious ("V for SFV! V is 5, get it?" - Capcom).

No idea of what clothes they'll give him, but I can see them going too far with the body paint:

Getting a Haitian Vodou vibe. The Carribbean religion centers on being a servant of the spirits. Push it towards the pop-culture version of voodoo and you get the chalky face paint and the unnatural yellow eyes lends to a "possessed" kinda look.

This talks of Ken's gameplay, and some music
personal themes are previewed, which also subsequently means personal themes confirmed

Holy fuck I think Ken's SFV is so good it made me like him more as a character

Fighting games for me until recently were something that I played completely casually with friends and otherwise ignored so I don't know what the general feelings are but I always really appreciated the Third Strike soundtrack because not only do I personally enjoy the music but you get a really nice variety from things like Kenya to Mexico, New York to Germany, England to something like Ryu's or Akuma's stages. Themes were fitting to a character or to a stage and pulled from different genres which is pretty refreshing, as well as fitting the world tour aspect.

Not that there is anything wrong with having a single motif, Skullgirls is mostly pulling from the same few places for what it's trying to do with music but it fits with the aesthetic as a whole as well as just being outstanding.

For a genre where gameplay really is the most important aspect, more so than any other (aspects, not genres), music does take a pretty high place in my opinion.

I think that nailing an aesthetic in a fighting game doesn't have as much as to do with graphical fidelity as it does with setting a consistent theme and tone made up by art style, musical choices and... I don't know how to put this in a way that is concise without sounding to broad, but the animation itself, not even how technically impressive it is as much as what it conveys, the way characters move needs to say a lot about them as a person, how they fight and how they function.

Can I just say that I'm am so ecstatic for the new ken like from what I have seen this might be my favorite iteration of Ken. He looks to have a downward tatsu and a really strong cancel system. They even said that he is going to be a rushdown character. Literally could not ask for any more then a rushdown shoto. And the new art direction for him makes him look so much more rugged and less of a heman ripoff. I'm just to excited to be able to play him! AND THE THEME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

watch it Ken Fan Boy. Contain your jizzing to the inside of your pants only. :^)

But yeah Ken is actually good this time. And I'm happy that Capcom was able to make him far more interesting then his past versions. So a nice little golf clap is needed for them.

*clap clap*

I always knew Capcom had it in them ;_;

New quotes:
Ken vs Birdie: Boy you can eat! Butwhere the heck are you pulling all that food from?
Ken vs Ryu: Ha! I enjoyed fighting with you. Wanna go another round?
Ken vs Charlie: Man, you've changed. Looking a little rough around the edges these days...

About the vs Charlie one, someone reminded me of this, but yeah, it's an obscure fact in the canon, but Charlie was the champ of the US Martial Arts Tournament several times before he left to kick evil in the face, after that Ken's consistently been the champ. I've never seen any real interaction between the two in the games, so this was nifty. :)

I don't know about you guys, but ken looks almost exactly the same to me besides having a command dash and tatsu goes up.

I don't think Event Hubs understands what the word "confirmed" means but the director of marketing confirmed costumes (shocker!) and more specifically said he is confident that classic costumes will be a thing at some point.

So if you hate Ken's hair that much, it will probably be fine. Or if, like me, you don't like Birdie's new design it will possibly be fine. That one seems rather less likely because it would require some big changes to his model (and wouldn't 100% fit with the food) but who knows. Were there any SFIV costumes that particularly altered a character model? I mean, as long as hitboxes aren't altered it wouldn't effect gameplay other than looking strange sometimes. I mean, he looks too fun not to play regardless, just saying.

Command run (can cancel normals into this)
Divekick (ex air tatsu and v-trigger ex air tatsu)
Crazy kicks (during v-trigger)
A few new normals
Better juggling during v-trigger
more multi-hit moves (increased in v-trigger)

They changed him a lot, but people haven't changed yet and they're still playing him like the old version; a slightly more offensive Ryu. I believe that when people play him "right" he'll be the rush down "shoto"

He doesn't have a divekick. His EX air tatsu just goes down diagonally, and it costs one bar so I don't think that makes him top tier.

Do Tier lists even matter at this point? Just wait till the blooming game comes out before we even start to talk about tier lists. We can talk about who's good and who isn't, but the game isn't out yet, so practically everything is still up in the air. It's really pointless to talk about tiers at this point.

I think he was joking.
Kinda

Because I know for a fact Im not the only one who noticed any character with a dive kick was top tier at least once in a SF game.

But then again this isnt SF4 where vortex > everything (dont quote me on that since I probably have no clue what Im talking about)

And I do know that it really is too early to talk about tiers since things can change dramactically from now to launch.

....so you're saying that it's a kick that involves diving?
:^P
