Biweekly Skullgirls Tournament Salty! presented itself at UGC this Friday, and along with it came fresh Skullgirls news. This week features news on Replays and upcoming DLC character Beowulf!

  • Game replays now function properly on PC! Players will soon be able to save and watch previous matches at their leisure without having resource-intensive recording software weighing them down. The replay menu doesn't have its final UI and there are still a few bugs to be ironed out, so it'll likely be a bit longer before replays are publicly tested in the Endless Beta.
  • Beowulf has new moves!
  • c.LK - Beowulf squats to the ground for a quick kazatsky kick.
  • c.MK - Beowulf lunges downwards for a double-handed blow. If used to OTG, Beowulf will clutch onto the opponent and bring them into his grab stance! You have a shorter window to do a followup if you enter grab stance in this manner than if you entered it through a normal grab.
  • Grab stance finisher - HEY! The first finisher of his grab stance that does damage, Beowulf hops onto his chair and embraces the power of Cossack dance! Kazatskying the opponent into a hard knockdown, this finisher readies them for your most diabolical mixups. This finisher can only be done if you have Beowulf's folding chair equipped.
  • Beowulf's blocks and pushblocks have been further animated, and now make full use of his folding chair and championship belt.

Beowulf is making quick progress, well probably as fast as Eliza's just with more updates on sneak peeks.
Love it.
 

It's nice to see the progress on Beowulf going so well, I hope to see him in Beta soon.

I'm just hoping that as an assist Beo's cr.mp will pick up the opponent and go straight into grab mode and do a simple finisher. I think I remember Mike saying something about that having Beo's grab mode as an assist would do a quick finisher or something like that. One can only cross their fingers so hard in hopes for such a thing.

Not a huge fan of the Russian dancing thing, but he looks good otherwise.

Yeah not really a fan of the Cossack dance grab followup, just feels kinda unnatural to go from face grabbing to standing on a chair.
His c.lk is really great though.

yea i have to agree im not super thrilled by the dance thing. his OTG grab looks sick though.

also i was just playing Garou yesterday and noticed his jumping punch where he stretches out his arm is identical to Tizoc's (another grappler) jumping punch. possible reference maybe?

He doesn't even have animations for his grab mode yet, I hope you don't think anything regarding it is final.

Oh of course not, I've seen enough of this process to know that.
I'm just imagining it finished in my head and I can't help but think it'll look a bit odd.

so does some grabs on Big Band, so what's your point? I don't let it bother me cause the guys at L0 do their best to make it work.

That is definitely true, but that's only on one character that some of those mentioned grabs look odd on. While this theoretically speaking would look odd on every character. I totally could be (and hope to be) wrong here, but I just think it's two animations that are weird to transition from.
