Skullgirls Tournament Rules

  • Time: TBA, but likely Saturday bracket and Sunday top 8/16.
  • Format: Double Elim, 2/3 bracket, 3/5 Loser's Finals, Winner's Finals, and Grand Finals. If we have enough bodies for pools, we will run pools.
  • Version: PS3. Unless something absolutely catastrophic is discovered in the PS3 version and is fixed in PC Retail version, we will be running PS3.
  • All banned controller converters and modifications that are banned at every other tournament are banned here as well. This includes wireless DS3s; if your DS3 sync disrupts any tournament match (including nearby games), you will be disqualified from the Skullgirls tournament. If you need information on how to remove the battery before tournament play, or more information regarding approved converters, please let me know and I'll be more than happy to help.
  • Pause/Home is an automatic forfeiture of that game.

@Vancouver Crew @Yaya

Hello I suck with these kinda things but:
http://www.clippervacations.com/seattle-victoria-ferry/

There is a Ferry [The Clipper] in Victoria that will take you right to Seattle and back, for pretty cheap.

The Ferry from Vancouver to Victoria to start, is $15. (One way)

https://bookonline.clippervacations...E18B9F113BD0A23F2BAA63ED16E1?ts=1423613600287

This link gets you there one night before the tournament to get you settled in wherever you are staying.
It leaves one night after the tournament in the morning.

It will be $107, both ways, including all taxes and fees.

So that's a total of $137 to get to a major tournament and back. Wow! ($107 for you and me, Yaya.)

Thanks for the thread, @Hilary! You tried, @Domo, haha.

Let me introduce myself to those that don't know me. This will also be my first post here despite registering within 24 hours of Skullheart going up (I was napping when it went live...)

My name is Deniz and I am one of the co-organizers of Northwest Majors. I have been responsible for much of the planning for this series the past few year including brackets, scheduling, promotion, and much more. I have also had a major hand in running most of Seattle's 250+ tournament in the past 3 year the two most well-known of which is the Saturday Slugfest series and the GameClucks Weekly, with both events holding Skullgirls tournaments on launch. I played the game poorly in Seattle's U District until I started focusing on Persona 4 Arena, for which I placed 25th at Evo 2013. As local events have grown, I have chosen to put a greater focus on them and on Northwest Majors and play significantly less than I used to.

In the past few years, we have seen tremendous growth in terms of attendance and viewership and we are working hard to surpass what we have accomplished so far for the PNWFGC. This is where the Skullgirls scene comes in. We attribute much of our success to the hard work and dedication of the various communities in the Pacific Northwest. In return, we tend to shed the spotlight on those who have gone above and beyond with this opportunity. Between the Greater Pacific Northwest's representation at Evolution (accounting for 10% of total entries), the early promotion put forth by key individuals, and the rest of the NWM staff welcoming this community, I would like to see this scene accept this event as well and turn it into the best gathering of Skullgirls players our region has ever seen.

Skullgirls will not be forced on a Friday spot as ALL pools will start no earlier than Saturday at 10am. Friday is reserved for a number of fun events, exhibitions, and casuals. It is also when the majority of our guests are arriving to visit the city and eat good food. As such, we highly recommend players arrive early to enjoy themselves before the event. However, for those of you having difficulty finding time off work or the funds to support an extra day, just make sure you arrive by Saturday at 10am as we will not be determining Skullgirls' time until significantly more players have registered.

Our official hotel is 15m away from Sea-Tac Airport and prices are as low as $80-90 a night before taxes. There is a free shuttle running between the airport, hotel, and our venue. We're a bit of a distance from Seattle proper, but we're also very close to some of the some of the best restaurants in our region. Trust us when we say we take our food very seriously!

Please help us out the best you can in spreading the word and in taking care of our out of region guests. I do ask that locals be careful how they promote this event and be respectful to other's situations and wishes as you are representing PNW as a whole. I understand how enthusiastic some of you are, but try not to go overboard. I need everyone grounded on the hype train to #NWM7.

Registration is live at http://northwestmajors.com/register. I also suggest you follow our Twitter at @northwestmajors. For those of you that use Facebook, you get to see our announcements and discussions there first on our event page.

If you have any questions, the best way to get in touch with me is through Twitter at @tLozSEA.

I have big expectations for the Skullgirls community as a whole this year and am hopeful that Northwest Majors will have a part to play in its success as well, but I am reliant on our local scene to make that happen. I believe you all are capable of it. Please give it your best and let's make #NWM7 something special!

I'm going to consider going to this over SCR, but no guarantees.

I would like to check out the area as I have never been this far up north as well as hang out with those of you I didn't spend enough time with at EVO. I can get my time off from work moved around. I just need to look at the cost difference from SCR.

EDIT: Flight cost is more than doable. Do we have any info on the hotel rates? As long as those aren't too bad and someone can guarantee a room with I'm going to try going to this event instead.

With that rate it's definitely a financial possibility assuming I can snag a hotel room with someone. I will make my decision in a bit when I have a better idea of what my class schedule next quarter will be.

For real though I'm 60% gonna go to NWM instead.

Someone shoot me before I go to this. $284 round trip from newark to seattle
Want cheaper, but still fuck

Still need a spooky hotel room. How much is it per night can anyone help?

If nobody else has booked a room yet I may book one.

One thing though: I might ask for the money to be paypal'd to me in advance if possible, because I might be in an awkward financial situation since this is coming right off of the back of NCR.

PNW is in there yo shit

Hey, everyone! We're really pleased to see the planning here and in the room sharing thread. Keep it up!

The official Skullgirls account has been great to us, retweeting our links and spreading the word on Facebook (as well as linking to this thread). Let's keep doing the same!

We've added a page to our website with current prices from various airports to Sea-Tac (SEA). I've seen a number of people from various communities publicly talking about how they have bought their flights this week from California, Colorado, Florida, and more. Take a look; this might be a good time to join them.

Once again, pools will not start until Saturday at 10am at the earliest. Make sure you're at the venue by then! We will be opening up around 6pm Friday for badge pickup, emergency registration, casuals for all games, and team events for some of the largest ones. This is also the best day for exhibitions. It is still early, but if the scene wishes to get something going, I highly recommend Friday evening. If you all get anything noteworthy together, I'm not opposed to swinging stream time your way as well.
