There is no fucking way we're not getting P3 characters. And Marie... I can't imagine that would ever happen unless Atlus were specifically to push for it, which they might I guess...

There's no way they're ignoring the Izanami connection.
 
Okay, if they ignored Persona 3 but made entirely new sprites for Persona 4 Izanami instead of Marie, I'd buy it. Maybe.

Marie has no connection to BB Izanami anyway, it's pointless.

So is making a crossover with a PR manager that says that characters in said crossover don't matter, and that they're just "functions."

Neither are stopping anyone.

I can't see them NOT making new sprites for at least one Persona 5 character. I'd also love to see them add a P2 character just to have one.
We also don't know if its just Ruby or RWBY as a series. It really is too early to tell. I'm hoping we get more new characters or characters brought in from other Arcsys series (coughBattleFantasiacough) that aren't HD.

It'll be interesting to see what they do.
 
I really doubt there's going to be a P5 character. Only if the next Persona Arena will be sprite-based so they can use it again, but they'd have to remake all the P4 sprites for P5A since the timeline means all those characters are out of school, so they might just go for Xrd models.

If we're doing wishlists, BB Naoto's gone (dumb name jokes). Izanami may be replaced unless she's important to whatever they cook up. My instant thought is Tsubaki and Makoto but I really don't know my BlazBlue roster well enough. RWBY has Pyrrha instead of Penny and Nora instead of Emerald or Cinder (if it were up to me I'd give Cinder the boot in favor of both her sidekicks). And P4A has Mitsuru and Elizabeth instead of Marie and Rise. Maybe Akihiko.
 
but this is a crossover game sooooo timelines really don't matter? Like PQ had P3 and P4 crossover without changing their designs past the new art style or aging them up or down. So why can't a crossover that won't be canon?

Persona 4 Arena canonically takes place a year after Persona 4, and canonically all the Persona 3 characters are out of school so they gave them all new designs, and canonically Minato is dead/trapped so he wasn't in the game.

The Arena game was canon, so the next Arena game should be canon.
 
I'm not saying that. I'm saying they could design a Persona 5 character that appears in THIS GAME since this game most likely won't be canon and is a crossover. Crossovers really can do whatever they want with dimensions and timey-wimey stuff. Plus given how the characters in P5 have specific battle outfits they could easily alter the sprites (a lot of work, but a lot less work than making totally new ones) to show them after P5 if they did make a P5A. And for THIS game, they're already reusing the P4A sprites, so even if they have to remake them for a future sequel if that happens, that isn't the conversation.

Tl;Dr: I meant Blazblue Cross Tag battle and NOT P4AU in terms of canonicity of that statement.

Okay.

I feel the need to mention this:

Atlus will make anything they can into a canonical showing for Persona.

So, I wouldn't say that this isn't canon just yet.

I almost asked if it was possible that it was a new character but then I realized how stupid that'd sound since pretty much every notable P4 charcter is playable and there's no one else to add.

I mean they could do some p5 stuff or they could do like literally any character, obviously dojima or nanako are possible, but really they could add any persona character.

You forget P3 characters were present, and Blue Jesus has yet to make a fighting appearance. I doubt this game is canon to Persona, so why not?

Again, I'd be surprised.
