c.LK range too short?

So what do you all think about the range on c.LK?

My one friend has been playing Parasoul/Bella, and I'm having a real tough time punishing Parasoul because the range on c.LK is so short. On top of that, if I miss I normally get hit by a c.k by Para (dem long legs yo). I have also noticed that after hitting with c.LK, it often pushed my opponent out of range for the first hit of c.MK. This applies to a variety of characters not just Para, making it hard to set up a combo.

Anyone else having difficulties with this?

Is it possible to punish with just a c.MK which I think has slightly longer range? I'm not sure if it's startup is quick enough to punish most moves. Plus I think a confirm on c.MK may cause c.HP to whiff. I suppose if c.LK range got buffed, c.HP would probably whiff after that too.

I think it's fine mainly because Val's run speed is so insane. I feel like aside from robo-fortune....(maybe even faster a bit due to lack of pause before running?) val runs the fastest. Also Val is one of the best punishers in the game. I'm constantly punishing parasol & other med/heavies all the time lol.

And honestly, with the buff to Bypass...Val's gotten SO much better & has so much more combo potential

also stop using combo flowcharts. find recent footage of a val you like and steal their combos and resets.

Valentine's 5LP is really fast with great reach for punishes.
 
I use c.LK a lot but not with much trouble. I agree that speed makes up for range in several situations.

I guess I need to start thinking outside the box a bit. I'll give the LP a go and check out some combo vids to take advantage of the bypass buff.
 
You will notice Duckator uses s.LP a lot for whiff punishes for when hitting the opponent as fast as possible from the minimum distance is required.

It's a good button!
 
You can also use smp, cancel after the first hit and then chp. It's not as fast but it has great range
