Not sure where else to post this. I'm considering removing the listing of events from the forum index (especially since it only shows one column of info now that the layout is broken) and replacing it with something similar to what's currently in the Major Tournaments subsection. This would however mean that the info wouldn't dynamically update and it would not give exposure to the smaller events.

Thoughts?

EDIT: Your post might not show up here immediately, but I'll approve any post for this thread as soon as I see it

I don't really like this idea because it would give less exposure to smaller events. It already sucks to hear "oh I would have gone if I knew there was a tournament" from like 20 people even after I advertise everywhere I can

Other things I could do is either put the list in the sidebar of the index (I've done this temporarily now if you want to know what it'd look like) or make it visible as it is currently within the event subforums.

As long as they're somewhere on the front page I'm happy, whether it's on the sidebar or wherever.

Would it be blasphemous to put the Tournaments section above News where Upcoming Events section currently is and keep this sidebar?

If it stays on the sidebar like this, I'd move it up to be located under or even over the streams
Since surely it is more important to be visible than "Members currently online now" or the Forum statistics

by 'tournaments section' do you mean the listing that is currently there, or the one that is in 'Major Tournaments' at the moment?

I didn't bother with the position at all when I added it - it was just to demonstrate what I was talking about. I agree that it should be higher if it stays, though.

I like the "upcoming events" being in the side bar.

I'd set it like this

Upcoming Events
Streams
New Posts
Forum Stats
Members Online
Twitter

The header listings under "Major Tournaments" requiring manual input kind of sucks, but it looks really good, and I think it should be on the forum index where the current "Upcoming Events" block is above the subforum list.

It's too bad there isn't a way to automate it.

I would also be fine with just not having a block above the forum list (but, keeping the one in Major tournaments as is) because then it's less scroll time to get to the actual forum while still being able to see upcoming events in the sidebar.

New posts for the forum is going first - that part isn't negotiable. The rest sounds reasonable.

I meant the same thing that worldjem described.

Why?
Basic design structure. You're one a forum, and one of the primary things people are going to want to do on a forum is check what threads are active, so it makes sense for that to be more visually accessible than things that are slightly less likely to be what the user is looking for on any given page hit.

Members Online should go above Forum Stats as well while we are talking about sidebar order. There are members that follow other members and would like to see them pop up if their online without having to scroll further down. Not to mention a member is more likely to be curious to see who is online right now with them [for PM purposes and such] over the the current forum statistics which honestly keeps getting reset.

Please dont do this the way it is now
Events on sidebar and this in the Tournament section is fine

But not these gigantic bars on the frontpage at all times

Yeah. Every time I join this site I'm reminded of all the good stuff I'm missing. Oh the pain

Oh the placements got fixed now cool since it was broken before.
