Doesn't everyone love Sonic? - The Sonic the Hedgehog thread.

The team they having working on the movie seems reliable. the only issue is the CGI/Live-Action part because that sounds like a mess. Eggman better not be Live-action dammit we don't need another 06.

I don't like that Classic Sonic is in the new Sonic game. Isn't Sonic Mania Classic Sonic time to shine, Let Modern Sonic have Project 2017.
 
Classic Sonic being in Project 2017 angers me a bit. because that's just saying their going back to the generations formula. which while cool was filled with many flaws. the fact Mania is coming out doesn't really affect how i feel on Calssic Sonic being in PJ2017. i just really didn't want Generations 2.
 
Sooo speaking of memes, Sonic in Lego Dimensions is out. It is your standard Lego affair, but seeing Sonic levels simi-Legoed up is interesting and the humor is fairly Lego/Sonic_Hedgehog twitter humor (so, you know, memey and referencey). Like I find the Sonic the Fighters Tails's workshop and Sonic 1's 'bad end' emerald juggling being nice touches among other things.
Though this is the only video showcasing part of it that's in any decent quality right now.

return to the boost formula, tighten it up even more to perfection. Sonic's still very tanky when he's just walking around, makes 3D platforming more difficult than it needs to be.

Classic Sonic was great in Gens. It wasn't 1:1 with the classics in terms of feel and physics, but it doesn't really need to be now that we have Mania coming along.

If it's well made, yeah, people will like that. And there is a good ammount of small details and easter eggs involved.

It's Nostalgic, but good

I'd be more enthused if classic Sonic was that good. Like if this was Contra Mania it'd be a different story.

They're not bad games and they have some interesting things (the sprawling size of the stages, for one), but Genny Sonic was always a case of style over substance. They never played half as well as the Mario's/Contras/Ghouls and Ghosts/Castlevania/Mega Man/etc. etc. of the time.

The speed and loop-de-loops are like the birth of qte's. You don't actually do anything but hold forward, unless you take it off the rails and then it becomes impossible to react to anything.

Sonic 1 and 2 are also too fucking long for games that are meant to be played in a single sitting.

Still nice that Sega was willing to reach out to dedicated fans and hire them like this. I have no doubt it'll be a quality project, just not one that I can get hyped for myself.
