So, I was looking through the Skullgirls trading artwork on Steam recently and I noticed that in Valentine's cards, there's an x-ray of Filia's head in the background. See?

So this shows that Samson has merged directly with Filia's skull as he is a parasite. However! It's this placement and Filia's biology that realistically would not be possible, even by the game's standards.
Now, normally it not too unrealistic in certain positions. As you can see by Filia's offical artwork, Samson is positioned on Filia's head as depicted in the x-ray.

However if you look at some of Filia's attacks and some of Samson's expressions, you can begin to see where the biology starts to fail.

Let's take a look at one of Samson's expressions where this is most apparent.

In this picture, it depicts Samson as laughing with his mouth all the way open. The question is, what exactly is allowing him to move his mouth this far?

Or in the game, we can also see that one of Filia's win poses is Samson standing upright and using Filia as a scarf in the wind. Because Filia is facing forward for this taunt and Samson is looking over to the left/right, this means that the top half of her skull has been turned at least 90 degrees to allow this pose to be possible.

This can also be seen in some of Filia's attacks.

As you can see, in all of these, Filia's skull and biology simply wouldn't allow for them to perform these kind of attacks, no matter how much you would want them to.

I really don't want to blame video game logic here, but unless there's a canon reason for why Filia can perform these kind of attacks despite the limitations she and Samson have regarding the shape and limitations of her skull, then I'm not sure what to say. Even Eliza and Squigly, who are also parasite users, have a better explanation regarding how the biology of how their parasites work then Filia ever will.

The first image is trade card art, done by a commissioned artist. All the cards art are not canon but done with free interpretation. In Painwheel's, for example, she's got bigger breasts than canon. Yes I just wrote this. Don't judge me

Maybe Samson hasn't merged with her skull, and is simply on top of it.

Then again... it was never intended to make obvious sense.

Another artist's interpretation

+ heart =/= bone and is imposible to see with x-ray...

Too "free interpretation" in basics, so fillia's head....

Keep in mind most parasites are master shapeshifters and when a host bonds with one, the line between them blurs. Look at a Eliza, one of the highest examples of shapeshifting. The human that merged with the parasite Sekhmet ages ago has become a biological slurry that looks like blood when projected into decorative weapons (e.g. a sharp wing, a winding serpent, or a pawing cat, etc.), but can resume the perfect camouflage of a normal human (layers of skin, fat, and muscle) plus any kind of clothing. It's beyond transformation, more like transmutation.

Perhaps all parasites can become that skilled at shapeshifting given enough time. Samson and Leviathan have been with their hosts only a short while, but they can still expand, contort, and compress a great deal, or even rearrange details with their hosts. Leviathan carefully threads through Squigly's skull without disrupting her brain. Samson is said to have devoured Filia's memories. Once merged, normal human rules no longer apply.

You're not seriously arguing over the logistics of Samson's ability to shape shift...are you? I mean, seriously. There's nothing to debate here. Like the others have said, the first illustration posted is fanart, thus the artist is free to interpret as they choose without having to worry about sticking to what's canon. The simple answer to why Samson can contort in such weird fashions is that he can shape-shift; A skill that many things within the canon SG universe have with very broadly defined limitations.

It isn't really fanart, it's mostly official.

That's correct, I should have been more specific in the fact that the illustration is technically commissioned work. Yet still, the point was that anything implied within the illustration isn't necessarily a reflection of the SG canon. Even if it is, that doesn't change the answer to the OP's question, being that Samson can shape-shift and contort in the ways that he does simply because he "can."

Interesting. Tell me more.

Okay, Val's heart is actually heart shaped because the money paid for the piece came from the IP holder.

Given Sampson himself seams to be able to stretch and morph none of these seem like a problem to me.

Samson's stomach is a portal. That's why he can spit all that stuff in tricobezoar and that all fit in it

It might be official art in a way, but official =/= canon. COUGHFukuaCOUGH
Even if we consider it canon, we don't exactly know Parasite biology and its limitations. Samson's mouth is known to be like a portal, Leviathan stretches as much as he wants to, let's not get into the bloody mess that is Eliza and Sekhmet.

Maybe what shows up as bone in Valentine's X-Ray of Filia and Samson is some kind of very flexible bone partially fused with Filia's skull that Samson can stretch as much as he wants.

I ain't gotta explain shit

What I'm more interested is where the heck does all the food that Samson eats go?

Straight to Filia's hips.

Everything makes sense now!
