Steam - Windows Forced to spectate my own quick match!?

Earlier I queued up to play some quick matches. After the character and stage select, I couldn't control my team and someone else was while I was forced to spectate. My username was under my team's healthbars and my colors were the same. The game seemed choppy and I might have been having some mild connection issues. The game ended when one of the players disconnected with about 20 seconds left in the round.

yeah i thought it was interesting

I don't know how I'd go about replicating it, if I even could. I suspect it had to do with my internet connection being weird but idk, i don't pretend to understand how this stuff works.

I want to find and talk to the guy that (presumably) queued up to do a quick match and ended up in my place lol
