[This is Benny, and he is a spider demon who runs a dimension hopping pawn shop. Which is situated in an enormous clocktower on a ripped up chunk of street that just kinda floats through the multiverse. It's the last remaining piece of his home dimension. Luckily for him, he has natural dimensional gate abilities.
Benny is typically cool-headed and a smooth talker. He's more or less seen it all, and it's very difficult to faze him. He's closest to true neutral, but does play favorites. If he likes you, he's a pretty damn nice guy. If you do something stupid like try to steal from him, you're absolutely boned. See, he's the sort of demon that feeds on misery and other negative emotions, but that doesn't mean he can't also feed on flesh... and he's a convincing enough talker that you might not even realize you're screwed until it suddenly dawns on you that you've been webbed into the chair for the past five minutes and it's not a pen he's going through the drawer for.
His sense of humor is dry, sometimes morbid, and often difficult to pick up on if you don't know him well. His voice is deep and somewhat gravelly, though he speaks with a smooth, almost hypnotizing cadence. He also has a habit of referring to himself in the third person every so often.
"Step right in, folks. Whatever yer lookin' for, ol' Benny's gotcha covered. Just mind you don't touch what you don't intend to buy... never know what's still lingerin' around on these things, take my word for it."
Yup, he's got a pretty strict "sell it as it was found" policy, meaning that anything he gets that's cursed, enchanted, or the prison of some powerful demon or vengeful genie is going to stay that way. He'll warn his customers... if they haven't given him reason not to. He's highly resistant to curses and dark magicks himself, and rarely encounters an object that poses a threat to him.]
There's not a lot more to his story than that at the moment - I still haven't figured out exactly what destroyed his home dimension, or how he got where he is. There's a few things to add to it, though.
-His full/true form is basically a giant green jumping spider, still wearing that bowler hat. He uses the humanoid guise to interact better with customers when he's in humanoid-dominated dimensions - it would LOOK more true human, but he never said he was very good at glamours.
-He normally wears much more casual/beat up clothes, most distinctively an old brown duster and fingerless gloves. The bowler hat stays, though. The hat ALWAYS stays. But, as you can see, he's perfectly capable of ditching hobo mode to look classy!
-His sunglasses hide it a bit, but he has four pure black, circular, spiderlike eyes in his humanoid form.
-That's an oversized bug leg he's chewing on, not a piece of grass or anything.
-He's acquaintances with a few other interdimensional shopkeeps. Apparently that's a thing.
-His stock is secured in the clocktower by webbing. Lots and lots of webbing.
-Benny came into being when I needed a one-shot black market type shopkeep NPC for a modern supernatural roleplay. And then he just never left.
-Recently, he's become involved with a friend's character - not a fellow Patron Saint or anything though - and taken said character on as a shop assistant. And by that I mean this is the guy he sends to retrieve items and make deals when things might get dangerous, because Benny's not much of a fighter and Xanatas was bored with life but has access to powerful demon weapons.
