Heroes of the Storm

On second thought, whenever Lady Vashj makes it in, I will pick it up.
 
Tiers don't matter much in quick match mode, it is kind of like ARAM in league where teamwork trumps most disadvantages.

Finally got to play it, since I have a new computer, really liking Arthas and Sylvanas.
Oh, and to anyone playing, right now there is a Black Friday sale for 2 weeks!

I have a few heroes already, I haveeee
Diablo (free with my graphics card, plus Kaijo skin)
E.T.C. (Bought with some money I spent in the Alpha to get me the Wonder Billie skin)
Arthas (First Gold purchase)
Illidan (Needed an Assassin)
Sylvanas (Sale)

I'm considering getting so many characters, but right now I want at least ONE Support so I can have one of every role, then just go Ham with whatever characters I want.
Chances are I'll get Lili with 2,000 gold, but any other choices?
 
That depends on the style of support you prefer. I like LT Morales myself, a great lane support that can transport a team around the map. Malfurion and Lili are great for group pushing. In typical MOBA fashion, I would try heroes during their free week to decide.

Surprisingly, most heroes in the 2,000 gold range are really good.
 
It's too late, I ended up getting Li Li anyway, I wanted a support so I could have one of every role, and now I do.
I'll get Valla eventually, probably after I get the Starter Pack. Then I'll have all 2,000 ones.

I'll splurge more on the Black Friday sale later next week.
Now that I don't need one of each role I can go nuts

I did notice that all my roles happen to be Warcraft characters though, lmao. I'll have to nab some Starcraft or Diablo chars

Got him last night with a random, sorry about that.

I also had no idea there were special icons for getting pairs and groups of Heroes to Level 10.
I mostly got Li Li because of a radical looking Pandaren icon you get for getting Li Li and Chen to 10.
 
Thats cool. I didn't know about the special portraits either until you wrote about it.
 
hmm, I still don't understand how laning works here. It feels like I just go around grabbing the map's objectives, letting my minions do the fighting...I don't get how lane comps are supposed to work, and games are often over before I really feel like I've picked up on how anything works. The only map I've really gotten down is the Pirate Bay map with the Gold Doubloons. I've seen players have 4 to a lane and 3 to a lane to push early and then immediately just kinda go off and do other things.

HOTS and its laning confuses me heavily.
 
That's the thing.. there isn't lanes.. it's just all "grab this objective and fast!", which is starting to bore me. I love Pirate Bay cause of the fact you can steal coins from others and there's more of a "lane" thing going, but else if I was back online and a good computer, I wouldn't be playing it as intensively as I've been with league...
 
Objectives are the priority. Coordinating lane pushing, team fights, fighting siege camps goes with the flow of the match. Usually the siege camps are best used for split pushing.
 
That's my problem with HOTS, the objective gunning kinda wears out and I never feel like things are consistent. There are fun ones, like the battle of Gods and Pirate Bay, but the rest come off as really really gimmicky. I still play, but without a bunch of people to play with, it feels like I'm just wandering a really small zone trying to collect objectives by myself.
 
Goddammit. I missed the black friday sale and my pc's been fried the past couple weeks. Fortunately the replacement parts just came in. As soon as I get time to this thing running I'm gonna be on that illidan/tyrande grind. and one day I'll get to malf to lvl10 for the logo.

How to beat Nova:

Set graphics to low
Play any warrior or Raynor
when terrible Nova players take triple tap, know that it's blocked by friendly buildings and heros
don't stand still and make snipes easy
Pay attention to your own health so you don't waste cooldowns on decoys.
 
Also pick illi, run hunt build and hunt the shit outta her once shes revealed.
 
Unless you're already good at spotting the shimmer, Tas isn't that great vs Nova. He's ok, since you can use his E to escape if she's poking you down, but his best use of his trait is knowing if it's safe to dive in a little deep in lane. Clairvoyance feels a little stronger, though it eats a talent. You can use it as a shorter duration Scout Drone that also reveals stealth.
 
Anyway, planning to get some more Heroes before the Black Friday Sales.

And I might get Leoric and Kharazim too
I was also considering Azmodan and Abathur but given the skill ceiling of those two I was also planning on working to get them with Gold.
 
Game's updated, removed Hero Gating, Black Friday Sale is now until the end of the year, and, most notably
We got Recruit-A-Friend
Some neat rewards, basically, if your recruits reach level 5-10 they get: Raynor, a stimpack, and at level 10 they get Sylvanas.
Meanwhile, if YOU get 4 friend recruits to level 10, you get the Vulture Mount from Starcraft.
Hope ya got some friends if you really wanna have your SC Characters ride in style.

In other news, new hero! Dryad. Can't mount, but above average normal move speed. Really good at going in and out of fights, but takes longer than dudes on mounts to get to objectives. Focus on DoT and slows like in WC3.

No idea why, but can summon a wisp to scout areas. (Personally think they should be able to collect tributes/gold objectives since they were worker units in WC3, but that'd be OP).

Assassin class, but right now play her like support in that she poisons the entire opposing team and slows them to escape or chase. Idk she's kinda weird since I like pure damage. Also only played like 6 games with her.
 
Haven't gotten her, might wait for her to be free since she's kinda weird.

I'll add you to my list later, they also added a really good Santa Stitches skin I'll probably indulge in
 
Lunara is a straight counterpick against zeratul and nova. Moreso Zera cuz you can kite him easy. lvl1 tier talent that reveals enemies that are poisoned. And if they're poisoned you can slow them with your W. They can't go anywhere and you can move in and stack more poison.

If you're really good at spotting shimmers, you can use her Q since it's pretty much tyrande's lunar flare that poisons instead of stuns. Or hit em with the thorwood vine heroic since each stack comes back in only 15 sec and it does good damage + poison.

Arcturias has become a favorite of mine, as has Kerrigan. I'm enjoying these dueling heroes.

I have to say I'm playing less of it, going more to league and smite than HOTS atm. Probably because they are set matches every round. The random maps in quick match can get aggravating at times. Like, HOTS is good, but the matches are really short, games don't feel that coordinated, and some maps feel kinda throw away. Like, currently I love the Pirate Bay map as well as the Eternal Battle and Punisher maps mostly because its fighting for a goal at the same time. Players have to seek separate objectives or the same objective in competitive ways. The one spider level with the Widowmakers supers spiders is really similar to Pirate Bay and I like it, too. The objects aren't random, they're on a strict timer and often have both sides clammering to the same spot to fight in quick skirmishes. And Pirate Bay has players seeking each other and objectives out to take doubloons from each other and get the pirate to fire repeatedly. It's fun and makes the objective-based MOBA fun.

Some maps feel like they lack this. The Garden Terror only gets like this for a short period of time and once you've got a seed, its safe even if you die, so there's no real emphasis on fighting the other team, just getting your terror and pushing. The Dragon Knight has the problem where it creates a the 2 zones to fight in, and the rapid battle becomes more and more one-sided. Though I do kind of like it since there's a lot of strategy and on-the-fly responses you can make, like trying to deny the dragon knight by camping the statue, or hard pushing extra lanes once they get the dragon knight or are pushing the zones too hard, but it still feels like it makes things too one-sided as you try harder and fail harder and harder to get those zones.

basically my issue with HOTS is that it feels so...disorganized...Playing with randoms leads to what feels like a really messy experience compared to playing with randoms in SMITE or LOL, since those ones have pushing and lanes you can rush where being a bit disorganized isn't a total killer.

Also, I really wanna play Cho'gall anyone wanna be my Gall? I just wanna level him up bc Cho was fun to play.
I wouldn't mind playing Gall though
