Sorry if this has been discussed before/is in the wrong section, I didn't think it belonged on the Filia board since it's not about actual gameplay. Before I start, here's a photo to use as bit of reference: our old pal Anakaris from the Darkstalkers series (Vampire Saviour in this example).
His "Sarcophagus Drop" special has six distances the player can use, as shown in the photo above. The Jab, Short, Strong, Forward, Fierce, and Roundhouse buttons give you these attack distance options when the move is used (for consistency's sake, they were all done while backed up at the edge of the screen). The kick button is always a bit further ahead than the punch button of the same strength.
Now, what I've been thinking of for a while (I was going to bring this up right before Skullheart fell down a well) is this: how would Filia play if she had these options? Instead of three spots to pop a Ringlet Spike out of the floor, she now has six in a similar formation to what Anakaris uses in the photo above. Adjustments are probably needed, of course [edit: actually nope, as seen below in the photo] .
An example of what I mean - (shown from 2P side only due to the video I grabbed stills from using it). The transparent Spikes are the existing positions, and the red ones are new, labels included for clarity on which button would do what.
I'm not a pro player by any means, and also this isn't a case of somebody saying "the character should have this!", but more of a question to those most familiar with playing Filia, either solo or in a team where she isn't just an Updo assist. Would she benefit from having six Ringlet positions to choose from? Would it not change her game too much? Would it be a useless addition, or would it even make her too powerful?
Even though I'm not all that great using Filia, I can see that her Ringlets have three useful positions already. Well, I actually don't see much of Strong. Jab Ringlet after a throw in the corner is what I see most on Salty Cupcakes/etc. streams, and Fierce is pretty much the perfect distance to hit a thrown opponent when your back is to the corner and they've got a decent distance to fly back. Mostly it's Jab in the corner though. Part of me thinks, "this would be useful and could give her more control and spacing options, and maybe see more use out of the move overall", but then another part of me thinks, "wait, this could wind up giving her too many control and spacing options...". What do you think?
[I haven't played the PC version yet, so I almost forgot the "fake Ringlet Spike" she got a while back - if that's still in the game, then you can also base your answers using that if you like, one fake and five attack positions.]
