And what does this proove? That I'm a hypocrite for first saying that L0 are an amazing development team, then sometime later say they're really good but it'd be nice if they toned down the references in general, which is something other people have said at the beginning of the main thread?

let's look at Ajna's powers outside of combat. With her Dashing, Sliding, Smashing thru walls and all that jazz.

what do you think she'll also get?

There was word that she'd use the chain sickle as a grappling beam right (except without the beam part) so I'm really waiting to see how this'll work.
That and also her heruka abilities, we got to see the not!speed boost and the wall breaker... I wonder, hmm, maybe a shinespark or a high jump a la Castlevania.
 
yeah i'm curious about that. I'm sure they can use the chain as like a swing for Ajna.

but i want to see her use it to hook someone and drag em in

You can already attack into battle. I'm sure grabbing someone with a chain into battle will probably be a thing.
But yeah you're right, it'd be pretty cool to see.
 
So rewatching the upload I did I noticed that speed booster has an all new sprite set now and isn't just a recolor.

In the Shacknews interview, Peter said Ajna will have around 20 navigation techniques. So let's see what she's got already.

This list is assuming everything we know about aside from her basic run, jump, and attack, could be something special she might need to find or acquire somehow in the final game:
Barehands
- Walljump, Dash, Slide, Slide Jump(Cannon Drill), Parry, Parry Throw

Axe
- Chop Vines/Obstacles, Axe Climb, Block

Spear
- Toss, Dash Attack, Ceiling Climb, Pogo, Vault Jump, Wall Platform

Bow
- Exploding Arrow, ?Teleport Arrow?

Kusarigama
- ?Grapple Swing?

Heruka
- Hustle Run(Speed Booster), Floor Smash(Helm Breaker), Dive Kick

Undisclosed
- ?Double Jump?, ?Airdash?
That's already more than 20, so obviously we can assume that a number of skills will probably be built into the weapons when she obtains them, and so Peter wasn't counting them on his list. This is probably true for the Axe skills, but might also be the case for some of the Spear skills, and maybe things like Dash and Walljump too. Some skills are also upgrades of other skills, like Parry Throw, so he might not be counting those separately either.

I'm going to guess that a good chunk of the acquired skills Peter was referring to are special Heruka based stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the game we'll be able to Super Cyan our way across most of the map with divekicks, speed boosters, fireballs, airdashes, and who knows what else!
 
Is anyone else hoping there will be some sort of training space and/or dummy in Ajna's mind? Or otherwise a place to practice? I'd love to have somewhere to give new abilities and Incarnations a whirl.

yeah i'm pretty sure there is going to be a training ground in Ajna's inner realm.

it would just make sense. You can go select your party and then if you want you can test out the team in her mind before going back into the real world and fighting monsters.
 
A training room of some sort was confirmed as far back as the campaign, I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned since.

Oh nice find. I've been starved for more info for quite awhile now so this helped sate me a little.

The background art is so much more improved from the prototype. The mix between the 2D characters and the 3D environments meshes a lot better now. So I cannot wait to see how the final product will look.

Other than that, well... the gameplay was kind of painful to watch honestly. The person playing seemed to ignore or forget on-screen prompts at times, leading to a lot of mashing of the neutral attacks and lack of healing. So it's just as well that you guys don't watch this particular video.

Yeah, from what i saw, the person playing was kind of... Doing whatever they felt like, haha
 
Nice video! It was cool getting clear video and sound. The newly voiced characters are great, it's cool finally seeing the recorded lines in-game.

I was looking forward to seeing the new characters iddhi moves but they unfortunately didn't use any, lol.
 
Let's admit it: it was Polygon-level.
 
It's nice to see some clean footage now, but at this point I feel a bit fidgety watching someone else's playthrough. I just want to play it myself!

Like Shan said, it also looks like this footage is from one of the older builds, so it's probably not too worthwhile to analyze in terms of mechanics. There were a couple of neat things in some of those early battles, but I just stopped there.

Another big change we'll hopefully have for the real Backer Preview, is finally hearing Tania's voice in the game. It's definitely time for all of the new VA's to shine.
 
17 minutes of someone rolling their face across the controller? No, I'd die of a rage-aneurysm. Watching someone play a SP game way-less-than optimal is just one of those things to me.

I'm totally with Kawalorn, I waited this long, I can wait longer.
 
Yeah, the gameplay was pretty spotty. But I'm also not gonna sit here and get mad at somebody for poor gameplay.

Hopefully it'll be in hands sooner rather than later!

What do you mean King Mickey Ajna's Mother doesn't save her?!? Maybe if she happens to be fighting Ravannavar....


I'm also quite curious if this mechanic will change if you die while Heruka'd.
 
Another place you can do that is with the red Belu if you can drop him into
the pit where Cat Z resides. Just knock him into the left corridor.
 
How do I disable the tutorials again? I tried holding every button on startup to no avail. It sucks that I can't find any screenshot of that text popup that explains how (while also saying I love you :)) it's 4am right now so there's no way i'm getting any kind of expedient response.
 
If I remember wrong, it was the 2 triggers on the white logo screen. It'd prob take me longer to get the info by the time you've beaten it.
