Indivisible: Lab Zero's Action-RPG! (General Discussion)

Hey @Ravidrath , don't forget to have someone update the game's release date on the Steam page. It's been a while since the delay announcement, so that headline isn't even visible under the first page of Recent Updates anymore.

Oh right, since the panel is tomorrow and I'm going to be there, are there any questions you guys want to ask there on your behalf?

Anything concerning the thought process that went into the incarnation redesigns would be great! I just want to know more about how they decided who would be playable and what design elements were used to keep all the designs unified.

How much I need to pay someone to send me a signed copy of that CD.

Well, I hope the panel is going well. Doesn't look like there is a stream anywhere, so it's going to be another one of those long waits like the old days.

I managed to go to the panel, but was not picked to ask a question. Guess I’ll try the booth later.

In other news, 22 incarnations are confirmed for the game, plus 3 backer ones and 10 third party ones.

People at the panel got to see the opening done by Titmouse and Studio Trigger.

10 third party ones.

Ten guest characters isn't confirmed.

When Mariel wrote that up, she was thinking about one that is currently in discussion, but not confirmed yet.

Oh shit.

Uhm, yeah, that's all good, but remember Juju. Don't know if there's an NDA in the way, but I wouldn't run the risk. You know better what is happening of course.

Also, the Trigger panel tonight mentioned their involvement with Indivisible's opening. That certainly helps out reaching out to a bigger crowd. Concept art of the characters were shown as well, only one person cheered loudly for Baozhai (that was me), while Naga Rider and Razmi more cheers.

Oh hell yeah, more exposure is good. I'm sure there are plenty of Trigger fans that could appreciate Indivisible's art style and unique designs. I already know this is going to be one of those classic RPGs that is widely played for years and years to come, but a larger initial playerbase is a plus.

Really glad the panel went well, even though I doubt we got any truly new information, with most of the new stuff being revealed earlier in the convention. I hope the test screening of the opening means we will be getting an official upload soon......

Now, just out of curiosity, @KZN02, what was your question?

Assuming this is about what was going to be asked at the Lab Zero Panel.

@KZN02 Wow thanks for considering my question, though bummer you didn't get picked. Anything interesting from the Q&A?

Shoot, I forgot unfortunately, lots of things to process.

That's fine! I think we will be getting the video recording of the panel soon anyways.

Well the backer incarnations be shown before launch of the game or are we gonna see them for the first time when we play the game?

I asked someone at the Lab Zero booth, he says the backers themselves will see them before launch, not sure about everyone else.

Given there's only one day left, I can collect questions from everyone here and ask them to anyone who can answer them at the Lab Zero booth.

Oh my goodness it looks and sounds amazing! I can't wait to see the full version

My favorite comment so far:

When your father drops the hottest dad joke of all time.

Kinda sucks that it was likely transitioning into Ashwat burning down. Also sucks that we might be waiting until release to see the rest T_T.

There was a Hunoch stream, but it seems Twitch's archives are broken. I'm sad.

Looks like the Trigger clip has gotten a lot of press this week. There are definitely more eyes on the game the more it comes together.

It was really interesting to read some people's reactions to the game on Trihex's stream last night. He's a speedrunner with a relatively mainstream gaming audience, so there were a lot of fresh eyes and a nice variety of opinions. Most of them seemed pretty receptive to the game, especially as they saw him get progressively better and deal with enemies faster. It was really cool to see him get more excited as he learned more, and experimented with different teams and stuff.

that little piece of intro has brought me home. kinda sad that I've neglected keeping tabs on the development of this

also hi how are ya it's been a while

Oh man, Trihex is a speedrunner? I was watching another stream at the time, but if he's the type to break down games then I'll watch him when he puts the VOD up on YT (or just in the Twitch archives if they'll behave).

Oh man, Trihex is a speedrunner?

He got his start as a Yoshi's Island speedrunner. It's not as commonly-seen as SM64, Metroid or the Zeldas, but it's one of the classic games to run because it's both a great first-party game and incredibly technical to master.

Fwiw, he did two run-throughs of the AX build on-stream with a lot of mistakes and boss-repeats in the first, so the second one may be a less-frustrating watch if you're already pretty familiar with it.

Yeah I saw some of his stream while playing the game. Still I'm little suprised that I didn't saw more speedrunner checking the game ( streaming game play of it ) at least not that I'm aware of that.

Yeah he's had some cool Yoshi's Island runs, and his channel blew up a ton back when Mario Maker came out.

Obviously he wasn't ready for primetime with Indivisible, but you could tell he was having fun as he figured out more stuff. The new Preview is relatively hard for a first timer, so he did well all things considered. It was like a 6 hour stream or something crazy too. It'll be cool to see more guys like him checking out the game when it launches.

I don't think any streamers will be as quick studies as James Chen was during his Prototype stream though. Seeing him go from a blind 100% run to beating Mike in a 100% race on the same night, with near mastery of the pit climb, was something special.

Well, I decided to give this thing another shot after I totally blew up a few months ago (sorry about that). I did still get a bit frustrated, particularly at the final boss (took me 4 tries, each try was long, and I felt kinda hopeless after the third one), but I did it.

Anyway, new guard break mechanics are neat, Baozhai and Latigo carried me through it (I didn't even break a sweat on the Unknown Meownster. I don't know if it has been toned down, or it's just a combination of perfect guard healing the guarding characters along with not using Razmi, thus not using the hex, thus not getting the revenge party kill attack). I feel like the damage might be a bit low at times, mainly in that the final boss fight started to feel tedious, and that was with a party that utterly creamed the Manote so hard it nearly didn't get a chance to summon. Though I was also getting a bit tired of the Golem and Manananggal fights by the end. Still, this was a lot more engaging than the previous backer preview, so well done Lab Zero.

One thing I would like is some kind of indicator for Latigo's remaining bullets. Maybe a stylized revolver cylinder with chambers coloured in or something to indicate bullets being present. I realize one can count, but it's a lot to keep track of in a big fight. I got used to it after a while, but I also wasn't using other characters with followup attacks in my final party.
