@render I appreciate you dog, you my bruh. You did me right all weekend and I thank you for it. Also you ran the tournament which is cool of you since you probably shouldn't have to do that.

EVO generally doesn't care about games that don't draw enough players or meet their own mysterious and inconsistent criteria for "main game material." They also prioritize games whose publisher drops a bunch of money as a sponsor. The pervading theory about P4A vs UNIEL is that Atlus, P4A's publisher, paid money to be a sponsor and to make P4A a main game, and EVO did so to the detriment of UNIEL, which had consistently proven that it had a much stronger scene.

I don't believe that EVO makes their decisions explicitly to screw over the SGC. I think that's the narrative people like to subscribe to because it makes them feel like a victim. But they're not malicious. They're self-serving.

Also WOW, still no mention on SH that EVO even happened, or a link to the hype as fuck finals. Was a great moment for some community bonding, and Madcatz made good on their promise in an effort to heal the wounds from last year. Seems like news to me.

I guess I'll keep passive-aggressively whining about it.

Is it allowed for anybody to start a thread in the News Section? I thought it was like moderators only, or Flotilla's turf (lookit all dem green Galifianakis avatars). If a commoner like me is permitted, I might write something up. Although it will be from a dozens-of-states-away-stream-watcher perspective. I'd do a short summary, spoiler box top 8 and embed a video. Maybe highlight a top 5 hype moments to get people interested in looking closer.

What moments are worth listing? Anyone wanna add to the list?

For example, the universe-shaking battle of the Big Bands, Bang Camaro vs. MikeZ. Here's a timestamp link. Underneath the announcer screaming into the mic, you can hear Bang play the John Cena tune (apparently titled "The Time Is Now") for his Satchmo Solo level 5 blockbuster. Major style points for ending a match, but MikeZ escapes the brutal brass beatdown with only a sliver of life, and then crushes Bang with a Strike Up the Band level 3 blockbuster to win the round.

I know we already talked with Render and Mike about it privately about this earlier, but might as well let this thread know too since none of the staff has bothered yet when I checked this thread.

There is gonna be an Evo summary posted up soon [it's pretty much done already outside of some edits] on front page. There was complications on our end that prevented coverage like we did for past Evos here. Not an excuse, but it is what it is not gonna BS. I can assure you all we have no hidden agenda/vendetta against Evo where we would boycott coverage or something because the truth is far from that. This won't happen again and we already have taken steps to rectify this.

And to the two EightySixed staff members (whom I sadly can't remember their names) for giving me a slight slight discount on the two shirts I bought after I unfortunately lost the first pair. But hey, it at least meant that LZ got $9 from me in the end.
