This is the thread we talk about the clone of Filia, initially created as an April Fool's gag, but officially added after a positive reception.

"Movies? When, Saturday? Nah, can't. Yeah, I'm busy. Cloning. YES, really! Sorry, maybe next week."

One of Brain Drain's less-socially-acceptable hobbies is cloning, and often he forces the souls of dead warriors to inhabit these clones. Fukua is the result of a fortunate - or unfortunate - Lab Zero accident: a union of two souls. One, a once-proud warrior known for her brute strength in close combat; the other a silent assassin who specialized in ranged weapons for her kills. Together as one, Fukua possesses the best of both specialties ... but relationships formed under intense circumstances often don't last.
Get Fukua'd up!

Fukua is one of the greatest April Fool's jokes of all time. Of all time!

But... I can't accept Fukua and Shamone as canon. It makes Brain Drain more powerful than he should be (stick to robotics, bro), and makes Filia and Samson less special.

Interesting thread:
What's Up With Fukua: A Q&A With Mike Z

Mike Z said:
She re-uses bits of script from Zoner Filia and Grappler Filia, which were alternate green and red skin versions I'd made for the first public Evo demo of SG back before we had a 2nd character. Some people may remember them, possibly even fondly. (Those are the two souls in her April Fools' story, which is not meant to imply anything else.)

I'll let Fukua in as a nightmare figment of Filia's imagination. Some mental scarring from whatever traumatic event that caused her to ask Samson to eat her memories. Or perhaps a phantom projected from that hateful psychic solider, Brain Drain. A telepathic representative of Brain Drain.

But a physical clone is too advanced for the universe's technology, at least, beyond's Brain Drain's range. Compare the elegance of genius Dr. Avian's creations to Brain Drain's efforts: A rescued war orphan turned into a godlike toon vs. a kidnapped girl turned into rage-fueled raw-nerve agony crawling brute. Although one cannot deny Painwheel's strength (she's considered near top-tier as far as powerful characters go), you can't overlook her roughness.

Did someone say Fukua Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
O.O

Make out. They would make out.

I love Filia, Samson, Fukua and Shamone equally.

I think it's been established that Fukua is far from a perfect clone, though. The bio itself hints at internal conflicts in her mind. Shamone doesn't seem to be as sentient as Samson. She's constantly excreting some kind of energy. She's not even the same skin color. Brain Drain dabbles in it, it's not his main profession unlike robotics, and Fukua is flawed as a result.

But eh, for all we know, Brain Drain might not have had anything to do with it. She may very well be a torturous figment of Filia's amnesia-scarred psyche. I quite like that headcanon actually.

I want her to be a clone by Brain Drain because I'm up for someone who is a Lab Zero operative and has a connection to Filia like Painwheel/Carol. It also means that she's a Medici and someone mentioned that she has potential to be scarier than Double and Eliza. I want to know her relationship with Shamone and Brain Drain.

Does she enjoy her time at the Lab or what?

I want Fukua to be a tormented soul searching for the reason to her creation. Similar to Painwheel but more centered around her accepting the fact that she must conform to the opposing souls inside her to reach inner peace. I see Fukua as a rurouni always searching for the true answer of life in a world she may or may not have any knowledge of due to the unknown origin of her souls.

1 year since Fukua was introduced into the game. She's one of the reasons (if not the reason) I've decided to stay and improve instead of dropping Skullgirls, great character with lots of tricks under her sleeve. When I started playing (was some time after Squigly got released), I used to run Peacock + Double team, but never found the desire to actually improve since I'm not really into extreme zoning. Then Fukua appeared, and I like her ways of shifting between zoning and making opponent wish she stayed away instead of suddenly going all into their face like Filia, keeping constant pressure and switching back to neutral if something goes wrong. Happy Birthday, Fukua!

Wait, it's been a year already??

Wow. I feel old.

I for one can't wait to hear what the "Now I'M Filia" line will sound like in the voiced story mode. I imagine it'll either be really silly or really creepy.

It will probably sound silly because of chibi style.

I bet if Eliza couldn't get Samson, she'll try to get Shamone to be on her side.

Aye time to talk about Fukua? Check this out.

I recently played Fukura's story and now she's my least favourite character in the game. I didn't find her fun, her story was bland and there's almost nothing to her besides "I want to be Filia". I admit, I'm not the biggest fan of the DLC stories and I'm aware that Fukura's creation was an accident the fans like(correct me if i'm wrong), but I don't care about her.

If she wasn't going to appear in Skullgirls 2, I'll say "good riddance to a waste of space". But if she is, please do something with her. Have her claim she's the main character and wants to take the title from Filia(even though the series can work as an ensemble cast.). Or have her team up with Robo-Fortune as they try to find a purpose in life. or even if it is a clone, do something like a joke where she claims she's the real Filia and gets knock out by one punch. Just do something instead of "I want to be Filia."

Man it was a character made on a whim for fun and free, why you gotta be so harsh for a joke character that they actually put work in down the line.

I don't mind a joke character. I just don't like the joke or thought she was unfunny or interesting at all. And other than that grab move that looks like an octopus, none of her moves really stood out to me. I wouldn't mind her that if they did something with her like I ranted in my previous comment but all I got was "I want to be Filia".

If people like her, fine, they might be having with than me and why should I stop them from enjoying her. I just don't like her and I'm not afraid to be harsh about it.

Remind me to never play any games you program then.

If you meet in real life...Then yes, I'm one of those boring guys who hates getting dirty, can't stand the party scene and and i'll properly be complaining the whole time if I was dragged to a place I didn't want to be. But I do think Skullgirls is fun. I wouldn't be on this forum if I didn't. Sure I said Fukura was a waste of space, but everyone else in the game is a delight to play with.

I mean, I think Big Band is dull but his moves are some of the most awesome in the game. I didn't like Ms.Fortune's design at first but I soon didn't care because of how cool she was as she fought(Plus her head is adorable). I was even sceptical that there was going to be a Robo-Fortune because I wanted to play as Umbrella or Marie, but after I played with her, all my doubts were bull.

So yeah. While I don't like Fukura since she's so lackluster in both character and gameplay beside her octopus grab and her energy balls(Though those balls are dull too) I do know what fun is. Though if her story was about Filia fight everyone but every now and again, there's a scene where she feels like something is watching her, I might think of her better. sure its small but it can give the impression that Fukura is a hunter.
