Here we can talk about the many many games that are either coming out or titles already out and about that come to people's mind.
That said, Topic 1-1: E3 conference aftermath

3 Mario games were shown off here: Mario Maker, Mario & Luigi Paper Jam, and a brand new Mario Tennis game.
What are your thoughts on these games?​
 
Mario Tennis was fuckin hype. I dunno why so many people are groaning about it.
 
Mario tennis is good.

Its also telling you to play sports in the most nicest way!
 
Super Mario Maker is amazing and Paper Jam is giving me strength
Tennis looks super decent
 
Those games are looking great so far.

*Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam is looking great with the team attacks Mario, Luigi, and Paper Mario have so far.
*Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash is pretty nice and I would enjoy being able to play as Toad once more since he wasn't available since Mario Tennis for the 64.
 
I'm really excited for Mario maker and the Amiibo
 
As for me...

Mario Maker: Looks pretty nifty! a nice little level designing game that isn't too complicated or makes everyone feel inferior with its greatness (looking at you, LBP)

Mario Tennis: Blargh. Sports. However, I know man many people love this game, so I'm not hating. Also, it must mean more Waluigi so thats a plus.

Paper Jam: Paper Mario games are awesome. Mario & Luigi have yet to make a bad game yet. Mixing the 2 together? Im already sold. I can already smell the humorous dialouge and fun gameplay just waiting to...un...fold... :I

I am a little worried about Paper Jam. Sticker Star speaks for itself but I also found Dream Team to have its issues too.
 
Paper Jam continues to give me strength
currently rampaging through the countryside and no one is able to contain my destruction
 
So uh....anyone played Paper Jam yet. Everyone except the US got it relatively early so I was wondering what people thought about it. Minus the spoilers and compared to other mario & luigi releases.

Oh look a Mario thread.

This is a good place to mention my deep and abiding love for Mario 3. I know everybody likes Super Mario World, but 3 walks the perfect balance of hardcore platforming action vs pseudo-adventure game design.

It also has the best power ups. Hammer Bros Suit, Frog Suit, Raccoon Variations, etc.

Funny precedent for Nintendo, I wonder what kind o cross overs they'll end up doing in the future now.

I remember reading an article a while back about how Nintendo has been trying to pull out all the stops and appeal to as many people as they can in order to not get outclassed by mobile platforms. I wonder if this is an offshoot of that "do whatever we can to appeal to everyone!".

Jokes aside, I'm not a super big fan of the 2d platformers either. I am generally more into the Ninja Gaiden and Contra school of fast paced, precise 2d action (compared to Mario's more physics heavy handling). Mario 3 is a damn work of art though. Perfect mix of adventure and action IMO.

It's a lose lose scenario anyway when it comes to Nintendo marketing.

If it sells well: Oh people really liked how we refined this formula this is how paper Mario will be made.

If it sells bad: I guess people dont like Paper Mario. Halt this IP

This is really unexpected. I know the Paper Mario series as some heartwarming and heartrending moments, but my god...
 
Man this thread dies quite a bit huh? At least the Switch gives us something amazing to talk about.


So uh, full disclosure: I dont own many mario games at all. But this right here looks downright stunning, even moreso than Galaxy. Definitely something to keep an eye on this year.

I'm glad it's back to a sandbox-style world though. 3D World was super good but I miss the mission formula.
 
I wounder if they'll go for a 64/Sunshine mission style or adopt a Banjo/Donkey64 style where after collecting stars you head back to the ship to a hub.
 
I can't believe Bowser's the villain again when very recently he has shown to be an outstanding father.
 
I'm just happy that they're finally going back to the 64\Sunshine style. I honestly thought this would never come, at least not anytime in the near future.
 
I love love LOVE big sandbox levels with a star collecting-like style. I'd even play through that Toy Story 2 action game cause it was vaguely similar, I really hope that's how this game is
 
it looks like sandbox with a mixture of 3D World and 64's movesets, since Mario has the 64 midair dive back
plus some new tricks like dursting around at the speed of sound

I for one am SUPER PUMPED for all of these games! Odessy looks god damn amazing, Superstar saga remaster means I can have more Fawful I was craving, and raving rabbids looks nowhere close to as bad as people feared.

And that new odessy song is so good, I think I'll be listening to this for a few....days ._.
