MvC2 is coming up enough in some inconvenient places that it could probably use its own thread and I’ve been interested in revisiting the game so I kind of want one anyway.

So this here is the Marvel vs Capcom 2 thread I guess

Haaaaaaaaaaaaate playing this game online but if anyone ever wants to play at a tournament let me know.

Stupid fun game, I regret not getting another DC and selling my MAS. Would love to practice :/

Stuck with BH/Cable/CapCom haha.

I used to play a lot of MvC2, not competitvely, but it did help me learn the basics of fighting games.

I own the PS3 version if anyone wants to play or train. I've never been able to find someone to play with/against
 
Marvel 2 has undizzy to help prevent infinites, but it's not consistent at all.

I know nothing of high level marvel 2 play.
 
when i was 10 my local movie theater had a ton of arcade cabinets in the main lobby. They had need for speed, some side scrolling beat em ups, and Marvel vs Capcom. Being a young dumb kid i went up there wanting to play with Spiderman (sigh.....i know i lost a ton thanks to this pick.) and the older teens were like "Sure what ever kid. heh heh heh heh."

After spend the whole summer going to the theater under the excuse to watch a movie with my older brother I managed to gain the respect of the teens by beating them with SpiderMan, MegaMan, and Wolverine. I even managed to land Dan's raging suicide once. Shame the cabinets only lasted a couple years, they were just not making enough money for them to keep em.

Here is my controversial opinion on MvC2:

You are allowed to like MvC2 music but that shit is weak compared to MvC1 music.

Get at me.

MvC1 had better presentation than MvC2 in pretty much every way, but MvC1 turned in to hot garbage as you played more. At least it did for me.

No but seriously, SG and mvc2 have so much overlap, it's not even funny. If you think SG is fun, you will definitely appreciate mvc2. It blows my mind that I'm one of the only players that converted from mvc2 to SG while the others followed the money to go to mvc3.

As far as top player footage, google any of these names (depending on teams you want to watch)

I played this a lot. It was my first fighting game, seeing all the hype vids on YouTube got me into it with the PSN release back in '09.

I'll play if you hit me up on PSN.

"Throw loops"? In MvC2 you can only be thrown twice before you must touch the floor at neutral, any further throw attempts will not work. :^)

Is there a specific reason why no/few other characters can make good use of psylocke assist?

It seems like at least ironman might be able to make use of it?
 
They can. Jwong ran Sent+Storm+Psylocke sometimes.

Ah yeah? I had no idea. I'm probably using bad terminology, but I'm mostly referring to stuff like guile/charlie: launch>aircombo>airthrow>otg>relaunch>repeat (which completely baffles people who don't know how to tech or ground-roll)

When I was younger and I first saw that stuff, I was like "This game... is AMAZING."
 
I got the high score on the MvC2 cabinet at some liberty center in Illinois so I'm kiiiinda the best.
 
I'm shit at this game and I don't know how assist dynamics work but I love playing this game on PS3.
my favorite is probably Ruby Heart.

Yes, and it only works twice. You will not get a throw the third time.

Oh God its been forever since I've played MvC2. A local arcade had it and I played it so much as a kid. I wish I could still pick it up on PSN D:
