Another thread, another purge. This happened, and it saddens me. I didn't say anything when the same happened with the ragequit thread, or turtlE's Filia rant thread, or similar. Saying something now though, while I still have the will to bother. Obviously can't reply to the thread, so I chose to express my disappointment here.

People have different tastes, senses of humor differ, that's fine. It's less fine when content that people enjoyed drawing, writing and reading gets deleted because of it. Moderators are needed to keep order, but - with all due respect - when they start deleting series' of posts, each of which 20-30-40 people approved with their "I like this content" seal, one begins to question how they're approaching the duty. Surely the moderator stuff is here for the community, not the other way around. As is, we can have a fun place where people want to hang around, or a very clean place that people avoid. Not overly content to see SH gravitate towards the latter.

That being said, I also request people to PM me the deleted censorships they created / saved on their hard drives. I used to drop the thread link to share it with friends for a laugh, which is no longer possible towards that goal. Didn't save the pics myself as I didn't anticipate the purge either, wouldn't want them to be lost forever though.

I'll spoiler below what I've already got (so people know what they don't need to send me anymore + so others can access the pics as well), starting with my own Bella.
ALs29bO.gif

I specifically recall:
black bar on Beowulf's microphone (animation)
Big Band's pixelized j.MK (animation)
Eliza pixelised s.MK (static)
Beowulf's pixelised chairless c.HP (static)
+ pretty sure there was more.
tl;dr murp mad 'cos they took his dicks lel

EDIT: Pics no longer needed, as of post #16 in this thread, the content was un-deleted and moved to a new topic.

I like what you're saying, I get it. But trust me this place will turn into SRK if they do what you ask.

Hear hear.

I don't know why the crackdown suddenly; maybe something to do with the feedback of people getting butthurt over the Rage Quit Thread, but really a lot of good stuff seems to be getting written off. It's ridiculous. Hell I don't even bother much with Skullheart anymore because more and more it's getting ridiculous of what's not being allowed. I enjoyed reading the arguments. And hell that dick thing is hilarious. Maybe mods are trying to keep a clean image of the community, but dammit we are the community, and this is what the SG community is. Funny rootin'-tootin' ruffians. Some people come here for the tips and matchmaking and discussions and whatnot about the game; I play the game, I help the buns (noobs) out when they ask me. I put my time into teaching them the basics of the game. When Skullheart went down I even started the Unofficial Official Temporary Skullheart steam group when beta rolled around to take in new players. There are enough discussions about what theories and whatnot in my groups. I don't really come here for information as much as I do the content the people themselves put out, and now it's being censored. Sure some art is cool to look at and people talk about other games, but the extra creative stuff, the fun stuff. The people make some very good points and funny stuff, and it's getting knocked down.

I'm not asking to be catered for my personal whims. I'm just saying I'm one of the people that enjoyed the things that are getting deleted.

Didn't they say the thread's closure was at the request of the OP? Stuff wanted the mods to close his thread.

First time I write something on Skullheart in ages and it's about dicks. Huehue

That thread was great, it's a shame it got purged :(

But... the dicks...
WHO ELSE WOULD COMMIT SUCH EVIL AS REMOVE THOSE???

I don't really mind the thread being locked, since it was by request, but going as far as removing posts, completely independent of the original request, that could have been enjoyed by many others is a shame.

I understand closing the thread per OP's request. Hence why I didn't address locking it, though. I specifically talk about deleting posts here.

Oh, what to do... I enjoyed that thread very much. We all do.

A thread can exist without the OP. "OP requests this thread to get closed" makes sense for something like a question that got answered, or for a guide you don't want other people to post in, not for a random content thread.
I post a "Fun Forum Game, write something about the poster above you!" thread in the Off Topic section, write some posts there, other people write in there, and then I randomly requests a thread close because I don't want to continue playing. ??? That doesn't make sense.

I get that Stuff was unhappy how his thread turned out (from removing underboob and pantyshots to dickbars),
but IF a mod touches it, then what they should do is either notify people much, MUCH earlier (ie after Muro posted his thing, write a Mod Notice with "Heh that's funny, but this thread is for removing tits, not for adding Dicks. Please do not derail."),
or, far simpler: Create a new thread called "Unnecessary Censors", MOVE all the dickbars into this new thread, and clarify that Stuff's thread is for something else.

Deleting all of the posts (on top of closing the thread!) is entirely ??????????????????????????????????? and stupid

---

Moderators are for moderating discussion, ie promoting it, guiding it into proper paths (removing trolls), ensuring it stays civil.

They aren't there to see a thread and go ZUMACHEN, GESTAPO! on it;
If a thread's content isn't enjoyed by your community, the thread will die by itself.
If a thread's content IS enjoyed by your community, and you close it anyway, clearly your community is something you don't want to have, which.. poses a lot of questions.

Vulpes eloquently expressing the validity of the procedure used to handle that thread.

How did they lock that thread and remove the dicks and let the Wulf Den thread stay when it was literally raining dicks there?

Anyways, if Stuff wanted the thread closed I can understand, but I don't think that means you can just lock it up, especially if it's something other people have become involved in. I just don't see the point of the exessive moderation. The entire point of the thread was to be a stupid discussion about a stupid idea. The people there weren't making off-topic posts on another thread, they were just making relevant jokes in a joke thread.

I laugh everytime this "The Skullgirls community needs a clean image" bullshit comes out like lmao do you know what videogame are we talking about

Firstly, hows it goin'. Art mod here.

Originally I locked the thread at behest of the OP. Another mod later found the thread and deleted several posts, but I have since undid that because I felt they were in error. Y'all can go back and check out all the censored dicks you want now.

@IsaVulpes raises a good point (stop doing that, Isa. Making me feel weird.) about when it is valid to lock a thread at the OP's request and when not to. After reconsidering, I believe this is the latter case. Sorry, @Stuff , but I'm reopening that thread. It's not right to lock a thread just because you don't like where your game was going. You can feel free to ignore the thread, but I'm leaving it there if anyone else wants to play, be that with FoxKids style Jelly Donut edits or dick censor bars.

Again @Cellsai, I believe the best course of action to be:
- Creating a new thread titled "Unnecessary Censorship" and moving the dick bars there.
The dickbars ARE offtopic, however they also are "worthwhile offtopic" ie something people actually like (rather than a slur of insults or senseless oneline trollposts).

If you move the OT posts elsewhere and clarify that Stuff's thread is for "Removing pantyshots from SG", that would (or at least should) make both groups (Stuff/other people who want to let Parasoul wear pants vs. 'funny' pixelated cHP) happy.

E: To give a base example, I open a thread where I want to discuss the Parasoul vs Bella matchup. Halfway in the thread, someone starts to talk about Double vs Bella, and it picks up from there - the next 40 posts are all about Double vs Bella.
Clearly discussion like that should not get deleted, however *I* want to debate the thing actually asked in the OP, and the Double talk is clearly out of place in the Parasoul subforums (which hurts not just Para players who get confused, but also Double players who don't open the PS section and miss the discussion).
So instead of deleting 40 posts, or locking the thread, or letting it rock, or moving the entire thread to the Double forum, you'd just select the OT posts and move those to the Double section - Everyone's happy, nothing is lost.

Pretty much the same thing applies here.

Also, @Muro , if you want a mod's attention, please actually ping one of us using the @Cellsai system or PM us.
Indeed, I am aware of both methods to get someone's immediate attention. In this case though, I'd say the topic reached all recipient types in the right time.

Also, glad to see the separated thread, +1 on it being the best way to please both groups.

No posts in that thread should have been deleted. In the case of most other forums, deletions are reserved for spambots and people spamming gore/pornography pictures; basically, things that no one would ever want to see. In any other case, it's better to add an append to the offending post saying "Please don't spam" or "User was infracted for this post" so people know better than to act silly... but in this case, the deleted posts didn't even really break any rules?
