HEY.
How do I get more Arena quests? I want the Ranger set.
 
rank up. That's all I've found that works. That, and DLC stuff.
 
That's bullshit I'm already at HR 6 and all I've got is small game.

I dunno mate. Try beating more HR quests? I've read they're tied to your expedition hunts, but honestly that sounds dumb and asinine. There's a page link a page or so back to all the currently compiled information...one sec

I have never heard the term carting before.
I hate it already.
 
I just want to get Link's outfit heh. It's painful going through Zinogre and Kirin only to have the rest of the group get blown up by Rajang.

Carting has been the word for dying in MH since like the first game came out lol.

Oh mate. I'm staying FAR away from that quest. I just got started on my anti-thunder armor set and I have to grind adv armor sphere like crazy just to make it potent. But the Ioprey wear boosts are so amazing, especially if you've got a Guardian tasset/coil. GREAT LUCK +Fire RES +15 with all affinities at at least +8? Yes thank you.

Nothing, just saying its been used forever and you will probably keep hearing it around the MH community.
 
When you face the Rajang, what kind of preparations are oyu taking? I haven't fougth the Kirin or it yet, but I do know that when I have to deal with multiple monsters, I try and trap the later ones and bring plenty of bombs. I'd suggest finding someone who knows how o use he Hunting horn smartly. Those guys make long multi monster battles MUCH easier on the body.

Zinogre is a piece of cake and Kirin is annoying at worse since he is a small target and moves around the large arena a lot.

The arena supplies you with a few traps and bombs and stuff. Damaging Rajang isn't really a huge problem because he has a few blind spits where he usually won't immediately hit you. Problem against him is his lightning beam and spinning ball attack will legit 1 shot you at max health when he's in rage if you have about 400 def.

really? He hits THAT hard? I don't have a single piece of set over 300 yet! O_o
 
Yeah the first time I fought him, I had just under 400 defense and got knocked out in a single attack at max health. Upgraded to something like 460-ish and still barely survived hits.

I've been learning Hunting Horn now for a few weeks and I must say HOLY BEJEBUS THIS WEAPONS AMAZING!!! Seriously why don't more people pick up this weapon. Heavy damage, buffs, large stun. Ok so some of the swings can be a little slow but still you take the trade-off. I guess people just prefer big shaking explosions and free mounts.
 
What really turns me off to the Horn are the big, heavy, awkward swings. It's even slower than the Hammer, which is already super sluggish. I think it works best as a support weapon, like the Heavy Bowgun.
You'll never catch me using it though.
 
Hunting Horn is actually faster than the Hammer in both attack speed and movement. Every hunting horn has an X > X song that, when played, will make your walk speed be as fast as your run speed. Hunting Horns are pretty great once you figure out optimal combo strings and but the areas they hit can be a bit awkward compared to just about every other weapon.

Also, the Heavy Bowgun is THE best damage-per-second weapon in the game. Light Bowgun is typically a better supportive role.

The raw damage on weapons shown in the game are rather deceptive. Every weapon has a different modifier that the number gets divided by for its "true" damage.

Hammer/Horn: 5.2

Switch Axe: 5.4

Great Sword: 4.8

Charge Axe: 3.6

Long Sword: 3.3

Insect Staff: 3.1

Lance/Gunlance: 2.3

Heavy Bowgun: 1.5

SnS/Dual Swords: 1.4

Light Bowgun: 1.3

Bow 1.2
So even though it looks like something like Dual Blades have low damage output, they are divided by a significantly smaller number than something like a Great Sword.
 
Been learning Gunlance and Heavy Bowgun as well. As a LnS person GL definitely threw me off, but I'm slowly learning. Wyvern Fire is definitely a troll move though b/c ppl tend to want to wander right in front of the blast, then get sent half way across the screen. HBG is nice but kinda clunky movement-wise and pretty expensive too having to constantly farm needleberries and husks or just straight buy ammo.

Hunting Horn is definitely one of my favorite weapons. Once you understand the nature of each note and the optimal combo paths for both dealing out damage and setting up songs, it becomes hella fun to use.

I have to admit that I didn't give the Dual Swords enough of a chance, they're amazingly fun weapons.
You need to carry around a lot of dash Juice though, and it's easy to get knocked on your ass during combo.
 
I've been growing fond of the Switch Axe as of late. I'm a type to prefer heavy weapons, I guess. The Switch Axe has just enough mobility to not make an open target like the G.Sword most of the time, but hits hard enough for my tastes :D
 
im a big fan of the dual swords too, its really satisfying just going in and then staying in the bosses face not giving a fuck and just dodging everything.

plus the weapons you get for it look fucking awesome. double chainsaws - fuck yes, spiky claws - damn right, massive drills - oh yes, knife and fork - fucking sweeeet.
 
Dude, why you use anything but Dual Chainsaws? WHY WOULD YOU USE ANYTHING ELSE?!

Make friends with a hunting horn user, they have a song that will give you infinite stamina for a period of time :P
 
Or use a stamina Felyne. Their really good Palicos :D

God is it just me, or is there an influx of early water monsters? A large amount of the bonus monster parts seem to be water, too...

Yeah I already know that, @Skullmageddon and I wrecked in the arena against an S. Zinogre.

Yeah I've been using the Circle Pad Pro and it works fantastically.
Honestly I prefer it over the tiny c-stick.
