There should be NO option to select empty versions of Glass Canopy and River King Casino.

I understand that people payed money to have NPCs and stuff put into the special npc stages, but I know not everyone appreciates the style or type of certain characters submitted. I would love to be able to play one NPCless versions of casino or canopy glass especially. Is this a reasonable request? I will put a poll up as well to see how people feel about it.

But Admiral Mechapony... SOMEONE SAVE US FROM ADMIRAL MECHAPONY

I wouldn't put it in the same terms as OP, but I definitely want a Glass Canopy [Empty], devoid of both backer and "official" NPCs.

if you don't like these NPC's you can chose not to play on those stages when you get the chance

to be fair, they are the worst.

This was all I needed to see to die laughing:

I don't focus on the npc characters during a match. I focus on the actual fighters that require the appropriate amount of attention as you play. They are nothing more then part of the scenery to me and should be treated as such during a fight.

Making more "empty" stages feels like unnecessary padding to the stage selection catalogue and feels "lazy" when increasing the selection that way. It's one thing if the other version of the stage looks fairly different like Innsmouth Night and Night Rooftops, but a separate stage that is exactly the same just without NPC sounds silly. There are plenty of other stages that have little to no NPC presence that you can indulge if their presence in fights irritates you.

The backers did pay for the privilege for their OC/Caricature to be present to the public when players played at those specific stages and granted there are some NPC designs I'm not particular fond of, but I respect their presence since each one of them invested quite a bit of money so Skullgirls could continue in development for another year. If the tradeoff is that I might get slightly annoyed to see X NPC occasionally on Casino/Canopy in exchange for new characters, stages, etc then there presence is at the very least tolerable for me when I look at it from that perspective.

Not to mention that the Casino and Glass Canopy stages were made specifically to house these NPC's.
Making a version of the NPC stages without NPC's is just kinda,
pointless, and it makes the two stages a little more pointless as a result.

i dont think that its an unreasonable request. i honestly cant see it happening though.

i used to select empty lab 8 for the same reason tbh. i thought the stage looked better without the characters.

yeah it's similar to how I would rather look at a white wall then a white wall which a bunch of really terrible characters drawn on it

Options would be nice.

I have nothing against the NPC's but I usually prefer backgrounds with no characters or very few in them, but I completely respect the fact if Lab Zero doesn't offer this option since the backers did pay for it.

If it offends you that much, you really need your priorities checked.
It's not that I'm offended, I really like the backgrounds clean. The NPCs are pretty boring execpt for a few imo

Just because someone payed for something doesn't mean having a duplicate option for a stage that will still be included in the main game is a bad thing. I really like the stage backgrounds, simple. I should be penalized for this?

I don't think it would be lazy, they did it for a lot of other stages albeit with a little more small detail changes. And to respond again to the quip about the fact that backers paid, I just think that it would be fair to everyone else. It's not like I'm asking for npcs to be removed on an individual basis, I just want a clean background to play against. Their version will still be in game, so what's the problem?
Can we also have the option to not have to fight against certain characters if we don't particularly appreciate their style?
Thanks

Updated poll question to make myself sound like less of an idiot. Sorry for making it sound so hostile originally, I did not mean to come across that way

I don't think there should be NPCless versions of backer stages in the vanilla game. Presenting those NPCs was their very point in the first place.

However, if someone wants them removed that badly, remember that there's a mod around that lets you remove/replace NPCs.

I just want more stages, however I can get them. I totally respect the right for the NPCs to exist in their stages and I quite like them. Cue taco girl.

Thanks taco girl.

The poll is worded so weirdly I guarantee half the people are voting for the wrong thing by accident

Also I play on Training Stage because who looks at Stages, so idc about this

As a person who has two NPCs in the game, I find this topic offensive :( lol

On a serious note, I wouldn't mind a NPCless versions, but then again I actually like the NPCs in the game (Except for certain ones)

So I would have to vote against NPCless.

Edit: wait idk if I voted the right option, you worded it so weirdly.

If the NPCs were not on the stages then the stages would be kinda boring. The NPCs are what make those stages feel different.
Then again who pays much attention to stage select?

As has been pointed out, the wording for the question is very deceiving. I ended up voting for the wrong thing.

Anyway, I don't mind the background NPCs. And the fact that some stages now have randomized NPCs is a step towards making this less of an issue.

I tried to change the language in the Poll so it was a little less confusing. Tried.

I'm of two minds on this. I think the stages looks amazing and would love to see them with no NPCs.
On the other hand I don't want the stage select cluttered with extra unnecessary stages like "Casino (Empty)". "Cathedral (Empty)" always bugged me for that reason, so it's nice to see that get a makeover in today's patch.

In the end, I'm voting that I don't think there should be an (Empty) option.

Lets stop beating around the bush: It's because of TJGamer's furry. RIP casino.

I don't mind the anthropomorphic fox in a suit.

I'm not a fan of some OC designs, but it's not like they appear in every single stage.
