Parasoul Filia Big Band
I'll start recording my thoughts here, since I noticed something while playing Slapfest yesterday.

I was playing solo Filia and struggling to get in. Usually I just use Airball and airdash-punches. So I started doing random shit, and it worked. I got in a lot more by just jumping around, trying to space air grabs in the neutral, and throwing out Ringlet Spikes. My ground Hairballs worked often enough, and that's a terrible option!

I know Filia is limited in ground approach, and I can only improve by adding an assist like L Shot or one of the Pinions (I can combo off L, but if I use Soul, she can combo with M and Filia should still be able to get in their face with it). I also need to work on actual spacing and reacting; I was just making myself less predictable, and that alone isn't enough.

I was also dropping combos and resets a lot. I was doing my combo in reverse for some reason, and couldn't get the second half of it. Generally I've been able to get my combos in Quick Match, so I think my adaptation to the neutral left me unfocused.

Other stuff I've noticed: I jump a lot regardless of character. When playing Painwheel, I should probably use her projectile more? Good shield to move behind.

I tried a couple times, have to figure out when I'm out of blockstun (and just do PBGC). You and Cloud make me want to pick up Val though, I was already considering it

And while it can help the immediate problem, do I follow with a Silent Scope into an OTG? Just tech chase? Resetting the neutral isn't that bad with Parasoul, so dash-jump over?

Edit: I could try all of these in Training... tomorrow... it's late.

You can't OTG from Pillar Silent Scope.
Silent Scope forfeits the confirm unless you DHC to Gregor late.

You want to use Bikes to pick up.

I also meant more using it on wake up, where the timing window is very obvious and easy and I'm just doing pressure on your wake up.

Oh! Yeah, I didn't think of that. I have a weird perception of how wake-ups work in this game since they're not as important.
 
Figured I'll make an update now.

After a year I'm kind of okay at neutral! Recently I had a roughly two-month period where I just didn't really feel like playing competitive games, so I'm shaking off rust.

I've figured out that a big weakness of mine is blockstrings, plsying DBFZ has made this even clearer. The most specific thing is my Parasoul, who I like to do frametrap Napalm Pillar + Butcher's Blade assist call, but if I'm pushblocked I should use Napapm Shot. It would also help my Eliza game to just end at c.MK or call assist (when available) instead of try to frametrap with c.HP and Horus every time. Or even use Upper Khat for invincibility. I'm best at doing different strings as Filia.

My anti-airs can definitely use work too. Fighting Squigly is the best example of this, 'cause I can't really deal with Falling Woman.

I've also been considering Painwheel mid. My Updo assist has still been doing good, and I'm not sure about learning Painwheel. But Cruel Lily is a decent assist and Hatred Install gives safe DHCs. I should try using Stunt Double Updo, though...
