When Rare was developing Perfect Dark Zero, they sure did go through a bunch of possible designs for her.

Here's a video of the model that was in the Perfect Dark Zero beta for the GameCube back when Rare still intended to release Zero on the GameCube:

It's surprising to see visible nipples in that character design. I guess Rare was considering selling the game with Joanna's sex appeal?

As far as outfits that actually made it into the final game, I always liked this outfit.

I can't believe I didn't realize that "Joanna Dark" was named after "Jeanne d'Arc" until about 10 years after the game's release.

I think my favorite was the Gamecube tech demo version, just because it looked so similar to the original design. But I do like all of them.

I actually talked to the guy that designed the anime nipple Joanna, let me see if I can find his deviantArt page. (I'll post his page when I find it) I actually had no idea there were nipples until just recently lol, I was just more surprised at how different her face and hair was. She reminded me of Princess Peach at the time, so it did take a bit to get used to it.

And great choice, loved that bodysuit as well. I like the new Xbox 360 party Frock (with the normal Jo face, not the makeup one) as well as the black leather outfit in the G5 building level.

What gets me is that we haven't seen her actual suit that she wears in the posters/advertisements. She always has that slightly different combat suit. What gives?

Oh, and by the way, we have a Perfect Dark fanclub on deviantArt if you guys are interested. It's actually more of an art collection group since the community is almost non-existant thanks to no recent Perfect Dark games, but we still upload and share art and fanart. We always welcome new members but don't expect too much content until Rare makes another game lol.^^;
