I think the @moderators tag got broken at some point because it use to work.
@moderator

Oh I have a warning point or something can't post.
I don't remember any notification telling me where this infraction came from.
Or even a single 'hey dont do that or else we will give you a point'

Yo this is blasphemy.

yay cooldown is up

My bad. I may have not checked the right box when I was issuing warnings in the Non Gameplay section that's supposed to notify people of why and when they get warnings.

And yeah, the @moderator thing broke a while back. We'll see about fixing that. In the meantime, if you want a mod's attention, check who the mod is for that section and just call them @Cellsai style.

Just to talk a bit more about guides and compendiums

I love @mcpeanuts Big Band Compendium, @Zidiane Cerebella Guide and @ashxu Val Guide

All 3 are made differently, all 3 are informative and helpful. There is no one right way to do this.

Be careful making something in a hard to edit format, like video, though.

If you want to make a compendium/guide, my suggestions to help:

Just lay down the base first. Get down the character overview, the notable normals, rundown of specials and supers and some BnBs and post it and lock it yourself (you have infinite character limit in posts btw).

Maybe make a separate thread to get input from the other players on what to add, edit, etc. Afterwards as time goes, add in those specifics and intricacies you or others feel might be important. Ex. resets, burst baits, ways to try to play the characters, notable players, matchups, max damage or max meter or max carry combos etc.

I haven't been banned yet, so if you wanna make sure you're on the right track just check my post history for examples of Great Posting

Please fax me all your post so I can learn your ways. (PM for fax number).

If there's garbage in my room, I clean the garbage and enjoy a healthy living space. I don't seal the room and never go in there again. But this isn't my room, so I have no say in the matter.

Yeah, and I've yet to see a hotel just stop booking rooms forever cause they were dirty either.

Kinda off-topic, but I was unaware Nintendo had an official forum. How recent is it?

It started in 2003 when Nintendo Power created a forum. Then Nintendo Power died so Nintendo took over the forums.

I remember Cynical said something about some scrubs on facebook who hosted tournaments there because they didn't want Skullheart to see them. If some little party of 10 mashers or non-fg players on Steam forums is emailing a bunch of complaints to Skullheart mods about how awful the forum is, I'm going to laugh when these changes fail to bring those people anywhere near here.

Yeah, I doubt the off-topic section at the bottom of the web page was the reason they hated Skullheart.

Okay just confirmed.
The mods here are beyond stupid. Stay ass guys.

hmmph hmmph agreed.

Going on 3 years for me personally.

Yeah, and I bet it wasn't the off-topic section that made you frustrated with Skullheart, huh?

I already have two teaching jobs to deal with, but instead I spent my morning dealing with assholes far less mature than the kids I teach. I couldn't keep up with how many people posted and how frequently they were doing it. I'm sick of it and this is the solution.

Well honestly, if it's interfering with your work outside of this forum, I'd suggest asking if someone else would like to volunteer or help you out. Idk if you get paid for moderating, but if you don't, then you probably shouldn't be letting it interfere with your work outside of the forums. I'd assume you have more of an obligation to those teaching jobs.

I'm surprise they let you be on Skullheart on the job, I know my job would have reprimanded me already. Same with my Mom, she works at a school too. Guess it was on your phone? Are you an art teacher? Cause then I'd see why you might have more breaks during class... not that I'm approving of you choosing skullheart over your kids. If they were my kids, I'd want it to stop, I don't send my kids to school so that the teacher is on a online forum not paying attention to them. I used to work in childcare, if I did such a thing I wouldn't have been welcomed back every year lol.

Sorry, I get really frustrated with people who are doing stuff like this in childcare/education.

At this point, we now have mods saying that you can't post any Christmas art of Squigly in the Squigly Appreciation question.

This is astounding.

Don't worry, the Skullgirls will save Christmas!

Guys!
I know what the mods did!

They got rid of all the OFF-TOPIC threads so that we could all just post here instead!

Man, what an amazing plan.

Sure looks like it.

So, we can't even spread Christmas cheer related to Squigly in the Squigly Thread.

...

Well dahm.

Skullgirls pls save Christmas! ;_;

If you really want to talk about Christmas, I'm sure you can discuss Double color palette 21 in the designated thread.

Be careful, though: the colors red and green are not related to Skullgirls so you could possible get banned.

This is golden. Like River King Casino. (Not RED or GREEN. Don't shoot me please.)

That explanation should get posted to the rules thread on the art forum so it can be seen.

Yeah I agree. I'm going to go check if it is after I finish catching up on two days of post.

A chat does not work like a forum.

It can get prettyyyy close if you never sleep. But if you like to sleep and keep a conversation going with multiple people, forums do the job better. You're right. Unfortunately we can't have conversations after we've run out of Skullgirls related things to talk about. I guess we can use this thread, there's not really much Skullgirls talk in here.

Because it was still there when I posted.

Man, can you let this man rock. Not his fault he doesn't know what changes were coming.

After boring through this thread,I can say I,for one, trust the mods to do the right thing.
Also,in civil war,I recall Spidey leaving the Pro Registration, and running for the hills. Not too apt a description for Dekillsage.

Sounds exactly like @dekillsage . He would definitely attend something just to hangout looool. Also I don't trust the mods, since the whole thread is a very one-sided conversation. I guess the last time mass-deletion was discussed they just deleted that thread too! Hard to trust moderation that isn't transparent in their actions. (It's called "Bad Business," in the real world).

So I've been skimming through this thread since it has taken off so much, and from what I gather it seems the mods are doing some cleaning up, which is fine, but then saying there will be the removal of off-topic, which if true is...weird...

The removal of off-topic would result in a consolidation of discussion to be pretty much exclusive to SG, which sounds fine on paper, but can seemingly stifle the community and limit the new blood that might want to hang out in skullheart. To limit the discussions is to limit the conversations between individuals, who are more in depth and complex than to be an enthusiast of a specific game (in this case, Skullgirls) I feel open conversations of other topics opens up an understanding with other people because it gives you an insight as to what that person is like, what they like to do, play, interests, dislikes, etc etc. Are there inevitable trolls posting, yea sure, but those same trolls are just going to post in the other available threads that are going to be open. Trolls gonna troll, so to speak.

I understand mods maybe wanting to "cut the fat" so to speak with the overabundance of topics in off-topic, but to axe the entire thing, would just be alienating people who want to have conversations beyond this game, or games in general. If people want to discuss something beyond the scope of the gaming realm, they'll go to other places, and that means less membership here, which results in a slowly withering and dying website. I've seen it before.

Now don't get me wrong. I never really posted in off-topic general. More so games and a bit in anime, but that's about it, however, many people do, and it gives people a common interest to talk about, which in turn motivates them to stay within the community, rather than splinter off to other realms.

Anyway, that my two cents. Take with it what you will.

Yeah as a new player, it's kinda hard to keep up and contribute to competitive discussion or similar. You're new to the game and still learning, but not everyone just wants to lurk on a forum all day. (Some do, I feel it). Those who can't really contribute much to the discussions like to have a place where they can discuss what they do know. It is a forum after all, kinda hard to be on it all the time when you're not discussing anything.

It probably wouldn't hurt to clean up some of these character subforums, though. For example the stickied combo thread in the Filia subforum was made by Evilben, who has never edited the first post. That thread should probably be nuked and remade by someone who will keep it up to date.

On bigger boards they have character subforum mods that people can go to! Idk if you'd find enough volunteers here but it's worth a shot. Having a mod to go to that's a regular to the subforum you use is nice. Gets more stuff done. (Like competitive discussion!).

Cleaning up the gameplay character subforums is something on our list, I agree that there are too many stickies with too little valuable information. Many of the current stickied combo threads were made immediately after Skullheart came back up last year/when the character in question was first put in beta, and have been very poorly maintained.

I was thinking that the character combo threads could be remade by a moderator who would then continue adding onto the OP as the community posts combos in the thread. This means we wouldn't need to keep any OP on a leash. Does this sound passable?

Guess I'll suggest that, set up a google form as an application for subforum mods. It would make the mods workload easier, and it works well for the specific subforums here that already have subforum specific mods.

@moderators would be cool.

Alright, finally all caught up on two days of post. Afk.

EDIT: Yeah there's still no thread, faq, or updated rules that state why the "A mod needs to approve this," message appears. Guess people who haven't read all of this thread will continue to be confused *shrugs*

The non-gameplay character subforum was a target of repeated vandalism, so moderator approval had to be enabled to prevent issues from arising when moderators may not be around. This wasn't a part of the SH overhaul, but rather an unfortunate result of the vandalism that occurred in the wake of it. Hopefully, this will only need to be a temporary measure.

Mod approval being enabled on all non-gameplay subforums is apparently unintentional, and I'll be seeing if @worldjem can't fix that up.

I know, but giving some sort of explanation on the respective boards would be nice. Once the feature is gone, delete the memorandum.

Any ETA on when you guys can get to when the site will get to that "address[ing] complaints that the community has recently voiced" thing? Would like to know the future of the site. Feel like I can't rest until I know what's going to happen.

I wonder if there's a reason why those people have been going nuts in the non-gameplay character forums.

If we want the moderators to take us seriously and consider our arguments, then we need to be respectful and honest. A little joke here and there isn't too bad, but this has been going on for quite a while. Let's at least cut the sarcasm and passive aggressive attitudes for now. It's only been a couple of days and the mods are busy and probably somewhat stressed from all of the complaints and personal attacks.

I mean, I like the mods just as much as I like everyone else here. They're all cool people. Gotta treat others with respect, aight.

If the moderators are busy I think it's best for both sides if they complete the site in the vision they have first before getting all serious with the frustrated side of the community.

Maybe just an update like "Yeah we'll try and address all this stuff after the site is finished and that will be hopefully by X date."
They've got more than enough feedback to last 3 winters in this thread.
Anything else is just repetition by now.

EDIT: YOU MUST WAIT 439 SECONDS BEFORE COMPLETING THIS ACTION.

I thought you said you looked into this and were sorry, are you not able to reverse the action?
@Cellsai

Now is a good time for me to say that bans carrying across all boards is really silly but totally understandable because you guys are limited by the sites engine so whatever.
But like, I can get permanently banned with no expiry date from discussing competitive discussion and gameplay balance for posting a doodle of Squigly in a shitposting thread. (That happened)
(Nobody has even made a statement about that incident, or why the rules were bypassed and ignored by moderators.)

@Zidane

I posted a doodle of squigly in black in white (Dont know where it is anymore) in Squigly Lovers anoynmous and was instantly permanently banned with no expiration date or explanation and all the rules (Which you can read in the top left button of the site) were seemingly instantly bypassed.
No apology, explanation or talk of the incident ever lol.

Was spooky.

I said I was sorry for not telling you about it. I'm not sorry it's there.

The forum is a cohesive whole. Everyone is complaining about how we're apparently cutting the hardcore gameplay people away from the casuals with these changes. You can't then complain that because you shit post (repeatedly I might add, not a one off thing as you imply) in a non gameplay section you are somehow exempt from consequences elsewhere on the board. You repeatedly broke rules for intentional trolling in the Non-Gameplay section of the board and got a limit on how often you can post as a result.

EDIT: Three of your posts were simultaneously deleted, all of which gave you warning points and resulted in a temp ban. I did make a mistake and did not click the right button that would tell you why you were banned, and I apologize for that. That is 100% my fault. However, I stand by my issuing those warnings and the resultant ban.

Yeah, you gotta be honest about your shitposting. Like me.

Oooooohhhh my bad.

Oh I just thought since bonk posted like 5 worthless posts in a row and they were all deleted and then he got a 'warning' the same actions would be carried out elsewhere.

Nevermind then.

I'm sorry, but it's hard to be respectful to the mods when some of them haven't been very respectful to us.
It's not that they haven't been respecful, it's that there was some shady looking stuff happened due to all the mods not being on the same page, followed by the removal of a place that a lot of people didn't want removed. That's all not good stuff, but it's not quite disrespect imo.

EDIT: Three of your posts were simultaneously deleted, all of which gave you warning points and resulted in a temp ban.
Whoa what that's some crazy stuff.

So I guess It's sort of dependant on how fast the moderator can get to your posts to tell you to stop.
If they are late to the party you are banned if they are early you are warned.
Interesting.

Also the ban was permanent, not temp.
It had no expiration date. :S it had to be undone manually.

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the mod response to the general response to the changes. It feels like I'm talking to a brick wall.

This happened to me on Gamefaqs. I posted three threads, all of which broke the rules, and before being warned all of my threads broke the rules, racked up warnings, I was banned (without talking to a real person and no chance to plead my case), and I've never gone back to their forums.

Is that gonna happen here now too?

Well, that's cause they all pre-agreed to these changes, and I'm sure they thought they were doing good, and now they have to re-talk amoung themselves to figure out if they should do anything outside of their original plan. There were times when some of the mods in this thread said "I'd like to talk more about it, but I'm not allowed to atm". They're discussing, I can't fault them for that. They all need to know what the response is gonna be before they give it.

You posted several times in the space of a day, so I'm sorry if I wasn't just waiting around for you to post the first time. You knew you were doing wrong each time so I'm not terribly sorry if you're unhappy with the punishment. If you know you're trolling and doing something that is against the rules we shouldn't even have to tell you to stop, you should not do that thing in the first place.

The ban should not have been permanent however and I'm not sure why that happened. I am genuinely sorry for that and can only lay it down on a bug from the rejinking we've been doing to how warning points work. It should have been temporary like everyone else that got one (including b0nk, who you claim avoided one).

Either way, if you want to continue to discuss this I recommend moving it to PMs. It's too hard to reply on individual issues when five more posts appear before I finish typing.

I'll probably come back in a month too this post cooldown thing really grumbles my jimbobs especially during breaks at work when I have such limited time lol.

I'm sure everyone will settle down by then too.

That being said, anyone who still wants to voice their opinions and concerns about the new SH layout can do so by sending me a PM. It may take awhile for me to respond, but I will.
