PUNCH PLANET - VERSION 0.5.2

Yo I have to say, it's awesome that the engine you built is now being turned into a real game! Definitely will try it out in the future.

Ran a set today

We're hard at work on a new character, should have something to show in the coming weeks.

Probably Cid due to being the second character shown.

Honestly I would have waited until a second character before trying to greenlight, but it seemed to have worked out fine anyway and they're close to being revealed anyway, so it's kind of a reward for us for helping greenlight :D.
 
Got some good performance improvements in the new version of Unity and did some iteration on the camera with the newly added clarity, along with some airborne movement collision box size changes. Super Freeze now zooms out and decreases field of view rather than the opposite.

Oh man. terrible thought again.

Punch Planet should have a character that uses a Rocket Punch. Kinda like Cyber Gouki's s.hp and cr.hp

the grenade seems to roll a little slow, but its looking amazing.

Cant wait to see more, none of the characters currently gel with me right now, but I like how it all looks

Thanks for the feedback! Can definitely probably speed it up a bit, right now it's a bit easy to get advantage off when it's done raw.

Would it be getting different speeds depending on button input, or just one speed?

Right now it's slightly different speeds with L being the slowest and EX being the fastest.

Thanks, yeah nothing is ever final in our eyes :P

Cid's current voice actress is a friend of our sound designer, named Amarisse. She will probably be more suited for Tyara eventually though.

they're 3d models with really really good lighting to make em have that 2d look.

oh side comment to @willpower to touch up on Cid's custom super activation animation, maybe some large amounts of lightning going off just to show the player that she is in that mode. And since the custom super lasts as long as you have meter maybe have the meter bar turn into a sudo timer bar where it is one large bar with a marker at the half way point and to the side a count down timer showing just how long it's going to last if allowed to drain if you don't use another super or ex during the custom combo.

It's getting more and more difficult in differentiating between what's 2D and 3D. This appears to be happening with both ends of the stick with 3D modela like this game and 2D sprites like 1/2 Genie Hero

mmmmmhhh...

not really cheep... but i could see some cheese tactics coming from this, like far poke s.mk into dash cancel into grab.

this change would require a ton of play testing to really see if it's just a little too much.

an interesting side idea is maybe give Cid an ex only move where she does a delayed wakeup attack where she strikes upwards with her knife and kicks backwards with her lower half of her body. kinda like this:

The move would have a couple of invul frames but for the most part it will have her in a vulnerable state with the hitbox as if she was crouching. So you can hit her as she's doing the jump back part of the animation.

I suggest this only because Cid looks to have 0 defense tools, and that her entire tool kit at the second is completely devoted to pressure and mixup with some setup thanks to the electro-grenade. So her having a meter only escape tool would be good for her to get out of situations and oki.

Kinda like how Roy has his ex tackle act his reversal move only it's an aggressive reversal, and Cid's would be one that resets the match back towards neutral.

then again this is just a dead tired thought at almost 2am.
