I want to begin studying fighting games like it's my life. I study Skullgirls and Skullgirls Encore a lot and I find that whether it was a slow-paced fighter or as fast as it is now, it would always be a beautiful game with legitimate balancing, a quirky cast of characters and even a lovely community of diverse groups and cultured people carrying this game on in real-life. But I wonder if SF:3 Third Strike or Second Impact is better. To me, even if 3rd Strike's supposed to be a tad bit more balanced, 2nd Impact is much more aesthetically and musically pleasing, and people think the balance in 2nd Impact is actually better than 3rd Strike. And hey, you could possibly think New Generation is the best. So, I want to hear your take on which is better because I want to know which is more worth my time studying.

I assume you mean 'study' in the sense of 'wanting to get better', in which case you'll find people to play with a lot easier if you go with 3S. Then again, by that logic you should just go with SFIV.

I like New Generation the most, but I'm in the minority.

Go with 3rd Strike, I mean that one's even more widely available.

Actually since I want to make a FG of my own, I want to study the mechanics and ins-and-outs of the game, but I might be a fan of old school mechanics like parrying, so yeah. I guess in both senses.

New Generation is interesting but I feel 2i is a better game.

Too bad you'll never find anyone else to play 2i with.

2I is in no way shape or form balanced better for gameplay. Parries are stronger, Sean and Ibuki are miles ahead of the rest and infinites.

I realized how much more boring the presentation became game after game. I wish Capcom re-released 2nd Impact or 3rd Strikes with better visuals and restore both of them in terms of balancing(Skullgirls style) and maybe even have a fourth SF3 game, but a man can only dream.
