Recently, I've encountered a Skullgirls... non-fan on YouTube who's given me cause for thought. One of the big things about Skullgirls is that it's heavily reset-based. People who are new to the game and the genre (like the non-fan) don't know a lot about resets, may consider being reset to death as a single insanely long combo and drop the game in disgust.
I'm pretty sure that making the game less reset-based is never going to happen, but maybe more new players could be retained if a tutorial focusing on the power of resets and ways to defend against them is added to the game.
