So, I noticed the disturbing lack of a Senran Kagura thread on this board.

I thought that I'd fix that.

The game series is fantastic. It's got great gameplay, great aesthetics, and great fanservice.

Estival Versus is out. I got the Gessan girls for my trading cards.

How about you guys? What cards did you get? How do you feel about this game series?
 
Senran Kagura's pretty rad.
I played the 3DS version and while there was slowdown and weakness at times. It was over all a neat experience and I wanted to play the rest.
Never got around to getting 2, Shinovi Versus, or Estiviel tho

The only one that I've played is Estival.

I love how there's a character that's just Jotaro with boobs.

I wish there were more flat/small chested girls. That's my fetish. I don't like the ones that I've seen. But I hear one of the games lets you edit breast size in dlc or something so I guess that's good enough.
 
Recently got into the series with versus bit repetitive but I'm not exactly burned out on the muso formula yet.

Also Yumi best girl.

There are at least 3 flat chested girls in Senran Kagura.

I mean, one of them wears a padded bra when she goes into transformation mode, but still.

Yozakura's level 1 super is really, really strong.

Like, holy shit.

I took down like 2 bosses with one blow.

It felt like I was Saitama.

I actually got 1.5 of the vita games: Versus and Bon Apetite (no "expansion" pack :PUJNA:).
The rhythm game is legit good. I just wish they toned down the plot a bit. Blasphemy, I know, but it'd be a good game even without the cheesecake.

Senran Kagura is underrated imo, but it's like SFV R.Mika or DoA as a whole. Fun to play, but the choice to make it more fanservicy gives it a bad rep and turns a lot of people off.... the remaining people are really freaking dedicated though.
 
You never know, might not have had a fanbase in the first place if they didn't pander.

I don't mind fanservice overload so long as the designs are good. I don't think the designs in DOA or Senran are particularly good though. But they're not bad either. Good enough I guess. And the gameplay looks solid.

If it sells it sells. And you shouldn't really complain about the fanservice because it's clear what game your buying.

Yeah, it's really no secret what this game series is.
 
So has anyone else hit that love/hate point yet with the moveset changes in Estival? I know change is good for the game and all, but one or two of those characters (RIP Mirai) kind of feel like they just got gutted compared to other versions.

Yeah, the story of Estival is surprisingly deep and emotional.

Like, not all of it is fanservice.

Oh, I agree to an extent.
Like I said, the fanbase it has is very dedicated.
And I can get over the fanservice as long as it doesn't go too far for me; different people have different limits, of course.
But at the same time, I feel that too many games (not SK in particular) are using fanservice as a crutch......a crutch with a built in machine gun aimed at the wallets of a select few, but a crutch never the less.
Senran would still be fun with toned down cheesecake imo, but I'll play it as is.

I got senran because the fan service wasn't bad enough to kill the game for me and it was on sale.
It doesn't change the fact that I think the fanservice is still a bit much.

A fair point, so I won't count EV. But again, does that number include the anime. Or even the manga series I just remembered. There's like....six; give or take. Those numbers are still spread out. That said, I did admit that the series is profitable enough, regardless of how the sales numbers are spread out. But that may be due to excellent budgeting.

Anyway, I think it's safe to say that we're all fans of the series, even if it may be for different reasons.
 
I like Senran for the fact it doesnt hide the fan-service. it knows who it wants to cater to and they have made their name because of it.
also, Ikaruga is my favorite Senran.

I like the gameplay and the outrageous, silliness. Even though there are "serious" moments, the overall feel is very light hearted and energetic.

My favorites are: Katsuragi, Daidoji, and Hikage. Yagyu and Miyabi are in my top 5 as well.
 
I also love the depth of the characters.
I've only been able to play Hanzo, and have yet to play Hebijo (even though I love Mirai)
but all of the girls seem to actually be characters with their own problems and personalities that get really fleshed out.
especially Ikaruga.

So I've been looking at this series for awhile and want to start, but I have no idea what games to get to really get started on it. I have a 3DS but not a Vita, which I know a lot of the games are on, what do yall suggest?

get Senran Kagura Burst.

its technically the first game with an extra storyline for the Hebijo students. a good beat em up side scroller. its digital only though.

My favorite senran girl is Yozakura, pretty cool that she gets a magic mech for her ultimate this time around, oh and Murasaki she's the best~

Oh wow a Senran thread. SV and EV is pretty fun on my Vita. Yomi is fun to use with two hand sword + her range weapon options.

Want to get the Ayane dlc since one of my fav DoA characters.

Yeah, Mirai is a member of the Crimson Squad.
 
well, she's part of Hebijo in Burst, and I have yet to play the other games so far.

I've only played Estival, so that's interesting and good to know.
 
I'm kinda looking forward to playing Senran Kagura 2 and Shinovi/Estiviel and just see how much changes
I know Senran Kagura 2 is the "true" sequel.
All i know is they pretty massively rework Haruka.
Originally she didn't have any robot, and her strength increased a lot when you transformed, but the downside was that A LOT of her moveset was only with her scientist transformation, and once that was gone, you were even weaker than since before you transformed.

Got into this series a year ago after watching the anime. Really like the characters. I got Estival Versus 2 weeks ago, and am enjoying it quite a bit. Just stupid, entertaining fun.

Rin
 
I like Ikaruga. It's just there are so many waifus in this game, that some tend to fall behind.

You should read the SK Spark manga, it gives a really good backstory with her and Katsuragi.

Oh, and her Heart mission in EV is oh so sexy!
