Senran Kagura thread: I dance for the honor of evil!

And I was mainly saying that the skinship in Senran is actual stuff that warrants a look through by the esrb. In Fates, the petting is just a little cursor you slide around on the characters face.

Its not fair to compare one to the other in the first place.
 
If you don't like a feature, how about you ignore it instead of warranting its removal at the damage of people who like it? Okay let's not do "mental gymnastics" to validate opinions, let's just say that when you do a port of a game, you don't cut whatever content there is, because your job doesn't not include deciding what contents are right or wrong for the game since you're a localizer and not the dev.

This isn't the thread to discuss this though, so back to Senran.

I mentioned before that I wanted to pet everyone but I don't have neither a 3DS nor the game yet. I'll have to wait for a bit.
 
I think you need to define "damage", because that's waaaaay too dramatic of a word for this context.

.....And it really is their job to alter content or risk getting a higher rating or an image they don't want in certain regions.
For the former, take it up with the ESRB and for the latter, take it up with Society, because at the end of the day, Nintendo is doing whats best for them, not "what's best for me and you" which is what so many people seem to think and imply.

That said, I hope Nintendo's future consoles and handhelds are region free, so I can hear fewer complaints about the costs importing or buying an extra console.
 
FYI it was since Awakening that they took FE into a 'new' direction to expand their target demo. Don't think the 'they didn't want it' sentiment is accurate since sales have been only increasing since. Neogaf isn't the majority consumer. People would not have been bitching to this magnitude if it was just a minority. Yes it's a minor feature for the game as a whole and 'not a big deal' to censor, but that goes the other way around too where hey could have simply ignored it as well without hindering those players that would actually enjoy it since again petting isn't the main point of the game.

Also game would not have got a higher rating for simple petting. That is pure BS. The game is rated T. There are plenty of way more lewd games with touch interaction that still managed a T. Look up Ar Nosurge + for one that still managed a T. I can do way more in that game then petting. SK Burst [which was on a Nintendo device and didn't gave game content removed] even managed a T.

Nintendo America changed it simply because they didn't want to deal with a scenario of a confused 11 year old Billy and 13 year old Sally asking their daddy why petting is happening. It's not sales, it's not ratings, it's to protect their 'we want the young audience' logo. The localizations target at a more young audience [even if it actually doesn't] while the main Japan branch understands these kind of games attracts all types of age ranges hence why the petting was made it in the first place. If there is anything to blame then blame the outdated draconian policies some of the developers/publishers/localizers are following these days where anything remotely fan service is a no no because someone's safe space felt violated.

Edit: Also telling people to go import as a solution is about as helpful as telling people to play something else if petting offends them so much that they will skip the actual game. Not a productive solution.

I don't believe the sales increase was due to that aspect of the new direction, though.
If anything the game is on one of Nintendo's most popular handhelds, is arguably the most accessible, and actually had decent marketing.
And really, the people complaining are the people on neogaf (and other sites) and they're the vocal minority.
I seriously doubt the newer fanbase knows about the changes, so they're probably not the ones making the noise.

Additionally, petting wasn't the only thing taken out and I already mentioned that Nintendo considers both the ESRB and the society it's targeting. That's a case of the latter.
And, yes, I agree that it's also Nintendo wanting to protect their image in certain regions. That's also something I stated, so we're on the same page there.

And considering that there's no way to please everyone I'm perfectly fine if a solution doesn't work for some people.
There's literally thousands of games out there, so I have difficulty empathizing with people stuck on one.
Whether something was added or removed, play it or move on: we have that choice.

Now I'll admit that people have every right to voice their opinion (that goes for both sides of the debate) and that's why I never
tell people to shut-up, but Nintendo literally owes us nothing and there's no real impetus for them to even try to cater to everyone.
They've gotten complaints like this for decades, yet they still do it and they're still making a profit. And as long as they're not
breaking laws, I don't see them changing.

If anything, the extremists on both sides of the argument need to drop their entitled attitudes and do one of two things:
explain their thoughts like a decent human being or move on.

Having a video game perfectly cater to their needs or wants is not a right. It's not anyone's right.

I've yet to play it, but I'm glad people seem to enjoy it. It get me hyped. I'm just trying to wait til Black Friday to buy a PS4. I really dislike buying non-critical/entertainment items that aren't on sale. If a decent sale pops up I'll grab one though.

and that "there's thousands of other games out there" can apply to you too. just like if Senran isn't your liking, go and play something else. considering you're able to look the other way with the sexual themes, you're free to enjoy it.

You're comparing a health hazard that any reasonable establishment has you sign a contract to avoid (i.e. you owe it to your employer and customer to be sanitary)
to content being added/changed/removed in a video game which poses zero actual harm to people...unless you count from mental butt-hurt (I don't).

Seriously, one of those things can land you in jail while the other won't.

Now, I understand your opinion, but I do not agree with it.

People find a lot of things unacceptable, thus a lot of things will go against someone's standards.
Our opinions aren't more important than others, but at the end of the day, Nintendo's going with
the standard they're most OK with. Not every standard can be followed.

If a game doesn't meet my standards, then I'll make a few comments and just not play it.

If ellipses or the lack of face rubbing ruins the game for someone, there's other games for them to play:
Monster Monopiece, every Senran game, plenty of visual novels, hentai games, Criminal Girls, a bunch
of Vita games, and a ton of games on steam that will tickle their fancy and maybe even their pickle.
There's too many choices for people to continually gripe about one.

This sounds a lot like "you just want it back so you can have your porn game". What about long time fans that were curious about the feature? Fuck them, they can go play hentai games if they want the same thing, right? I mean porn and face-rubbing are basically on the same level obviously. There's nothing wrong about shaming people that like a thing by putting it like it's straight out porn.

Not at all, that was one option out of several that I listed and we both know that there's even more options out there. If that's all you got out of it then you missed my point.

And it seems silly to imply that someone's entitled when they deal with things in games they disagree with, be it things removed (XCX boobslider was an odd, unnecessary change imo) or added (the ridiculous amount of ecchi in SK games) , by dealing with it and moving on.

I'm interested in getting Estival Versus for the vita (too ashamed to get it on ps4) and was wondering how it holds up.
Is it still good? Is it worth buying?
Please respond quick before the overwhelming shame and reason comes back.

I haven't noticed any slowdown in my 30 hours of playing.Looks and plays good,too.
 
Marvelous makes sure that nobody gets jipped in their games.
 
Yes,because ripping after getting torn to shreds by katanas,rockets,guns,energy blasts,rocks,giant metal limbs,and flamethrowers is completely unrealistic.Normal clothes can withstand nukes so why can't theirs?

One of the last games that Teamfourstar played on this stream is Estival.

 
So, I finally caved in and became a sex offender bought estival versus.
I'm actually pleasantly surprised~ I came in expecting, basically, Dynasty Warriors but everyone plays so differently, requiring different tactics. Which also meant I kept losing because Dynasty Warriors was me mashing the same button for a few hours.
Combat was satisfying, too. Hits were meaty and everything felt responsive. Also, more story than I expected. I had to sit through more cutscenes than when I played through mgs.
Ryoubi best girl.
