(I'm posting this here as I don't want to fill the actual beta thread with offtopic discussion)
A little while ago in the beta thread I asked Mike about the possibility of the getting the final patch applied to the DRM-free version of Skullgirls released in the Humble Bundle. He replied with:
I decided to reach out to Humble Bundle support with the same question, mentioning the above. They in turn replied with:
Can anyone from LZ weigh in on this? If the final answer is "No" because of piracy I completely understand. The only reason I ask is because the DRM-free build is convenient as the install is fairly self-contained and "clean" on Linux. The final installed product amounts to a folder containing the game files, a ".desktop" file for whatever program menu your DE uses and a folder for holding your savefile and config (both of which are located in ~/.local/share). Contrast this to installing Steam (at least on my distro of choice) which pulls in a lot of extra libraries and tends to scatter a mess of symlinks and folders throughout your home folder.
I also understand that my reasons using the DRM-free build are far outweighed by the potential abuse of DRM-free releases. But I assume it doesn't hurt to ask anyway.

Hello there,
Thank you for writing in! We reached out for an updated build of the DRM-Free file for Skullgirls back in May of this year. Due to piracy concerns, it was decided that we would not be receiving an updated DRM-Free build for this game. It is true that there are circumstances where it is up to Humble Bundle to request an updated build. However, we did reach out for a new build, and did not receive the updated build.
We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!
