All characters have unused tags with Umbrella, some even with Marie or annie, they were just don't in preparation just in case they made it farther in the polls or if they were able to actually have the resources to make them.

Please don't try to spread info that isn't accurate as fact. ;^P

Yup. There are announcer voices too. It was a just in case because if new characters were ever to be added, it would most likely be Umbrella and Marie.
 
Since I won't be there, could someone cosplay as Filia in my stead, and nervously approach the microphone, twisting your frayed Samson wig in your fingers, and stammer a question during the Q & A part?
Knowing what you know now, what production tip would you go back in time to mention to yourself at the beginning of the project?

I don't think there are any Annie tags. The closest perhaps is Beowulf tagging Peacock shouting for her anvil-shaped imaginary friend, "Andy."

The Umbrella and Marie Tag in's are for if lab zero has the money to make another character and the willingness to do it they wouldn't have to fly the VA back to the studio to record new lines. This does not mean its going to happen though.
 
Umbrella and Marie were planned to be the DLCs after squigly, with additional characters depending on how well they would do. The mess that was the dev cycle + the Def Jam lawsuit killed this and they resorted to crowdfunding. The rest you all know.

Beo actually calls for "Annie" when he tags to peacock, but thats because he's not so good with the people faces. Probably because he spent more time in his life being a face instead of remembering them.

I hope they finally expose anime this year.
 
I was always under the impression that tags were referred to "under the hood" by a reference number (IE 9=Valentine, 10=Double, 11=Marie, 12=Umbrella, 13=Squigly), and it was easier to maintain the reference numbers and just record the lines than to try and either fill in "blank files" or change the order for DLC characters. IE They thought they might have those characters, and maintained the infrastructure they put in place for consistency. Having a recorded line instead of a blank file would also make testing easier in case there's an off-by-one or similar index error.

Speculation is fun!

This is not the case, tags are done by things like "If the outgoing / incoming character's name is 'Name', play this file". That's how we can have generic tags if there are no specific ones (if-elseif-elseif-else).
We kept the Umbrella and Marie tags because why not. :^)

Now that i think about it this would be awesome. But why is Filia suddenly tall and skinny and what the hell is that thing round her waist which in this image is implied to be mechanical?
 
At this point, I'm just glad the announcement is for a GOOD thing and not something like "L0 has to shut down immediately" or "SG is getting delisted permanently again"

Alex was once asked about that thing, and his answer was more or less "dunno, but it looks cool". With that logic, it might as well be mechanical for the same reason.

What the-...what? I know SG runs on Rule Of Cool but giving a character a strange accessory with no other explanation is either lazy or just weird.

My headcanon was that i was some kind of waist...clamp....thingy or Sampson's hair shapeshifted into a waist clamp thingy to hold her fat in, so you can have a "fat" character with that amazing hourglass figure Alex seems to love so much. So yeah, it has lazy design choice written all over it, but what do i know.

Its not anymore convoluted and out there than Kingdom Hearts already is, so sure, why not? XD Plus, twist Skullgirl's world a bit and simplify it, maybe focus just on the heart and boom...it could actually work...

Or maybe I'm just overthinking things and just hyped for the announcement.

Eh, the Skull Heart/Theonite is basically a space rock that guides sentient/semi-magical evolution and is generally a dick about it. This is similar to Jenova from Final Fantasy VII, so it could fit.

It's also pretty similar to Lavos from Chrono Trigger. When's Ayla?

It's a Dreamcast port of Skullgirls so it can be like Marvel vs Capcom 2 senpai. Now all the Marvel 2 players can play SG because they can use their relics known as "MAS" sticks.

I can hear old men rejoicing.

It's worth noting that it's colored differently than Samson in nearly all palettes, so I'd go with a non-parasite waist clamp thingy.

I just assumed it was a cell-phone holder. Or a pouch.
Then again, I grew up in the Nineties. Pouches just make sense to me. I've grown to accept them, embrace them, even.

DDB will single handedly fund Annie after his successful patreon, which funds a live action Annie Super Show.
 
Okay I'm very paranoid about this so I'd appreciate if someone from L0 could answer this.

Does this announcement have anything to do with a non-disclosure agreement or the like that could potentially screw everything? I know it sounds like I'm implying that you guys are stupid (I'm not) and the question might seem stupid but it never hurts to be sure (at least for me).

Yeah I'm that paranoid. Not sure if I should @ someone
