Beowulf SPOILERS - Beowulf Story Mode and Other Lore

Isn't peacock popular because she is JUST SO KAWAII AND SUGOI, I MEAN LOOK AT HER D'AAWWW

How can Peacock be kawaii, or sugoi, or whatever the hell, when at least half of her character is one big homage to the golden era of American Cartoons?

Shouldn't that break some sort of rule or whatever?

Peacock is a fun character personality-wise When fighting her, on the other hand...

I can see why she'd be popular. I'm honestly surprised Filia isn't higher. Just kinda assumed her design would be more popular I guess :/

Anyways, I say we run a campaign to make Beowulf the 100% most popular character in anything, ever!

I like to think the reason they hate Bella is because she was cruel to the kawaii neko-chan, you're not supposed to be cruel to the kawaii neko-chan, ever.

Of course her relationship with Marie is a massive factor, and that side of things isn't explored as much in Cerebella's story with Feng or Vitale.

I think I missed the point on what you meant with Cerebella being 'American' originally. The context it's used in is that her design, personality and story appeal to a western audience unlike Peacock, who might have been based on American cartoons but still has tropes that are popular in Anime characters. Cerebella is loud, show-offy and works for what I have seen people call the Medici's overthere - the 'Yakuza'. Also a popular concept in Japan is family and closeness to kin, which Peacock not only does with Marie but with Dr. Avian and the Lab 8 crew (again, why Squigly is so popular). You have to but into perspective the wordwide poll as well and tell me: is that is how you would have expected the characters to have been ranked? It's not that 'Cerebella is lame lol' or 'Peacock is the best bae', it's that it gives an idea of what is generally vauled in Japan more concept-wise, and unfortunately with polls someone has to come first and last respectively.

As Cthulolita had said before, Peacock's tragic backstory really helps and that is the reason why Painwheel is well liked too. I wish I could have found out more stuff on Eliza/Beowulf as I would have liked a better idea on how their status is in Japan. I couldn't find a Story Mode discussion on those two characters dang it! Either way though it's seems like they're less popular, which I found strange with Eliza as Double was quite well liked. Must've been because Double is a kawaii nun.

also bella doesn't have an extended story mode explaining her backstory. So it's easy to say "she works for mafia wow much evil so immoral bring fortune to life"

My love for Japan has gone down a bit.

In all seriousness I understand why Cerebella is not popular (She did kill the 'catgirl') but I wouldn't have expected her to be the least popular. I thought it would've gone to Painwheel or Parasoul.

I'm more talking personality wise. Parasoul is kinda distant and is hard to relate to. And I can't imagine the Frankenstein's Monster trope is very popular there. But like DDB said "She's also 14".

I also imagine the Nazi-esque imagery would have something to do with Parasoul's unpopularity.
 
Thumbing through the Japanese stuff. Yeahhhhhh, it's telling that the guy was speculating all these different reasons for why Americans might choose all the different characters in the poll, like interesting move set, looks interesting, etc. And then the Japanese choices were like...they're cute. Japan will love it. Plus Big Band and Beowulf the least popular? Pffffft, GG Japan.

I'm never surprised when Filia is considered not that popular. She's pretty boring.

Amnesia characters are always boring when there's no big past reveal. So she's just condemned to blandness until she remembers something.

Filia is a schoolgirl so she would be higher but she's a chubby schoolgirl ( who isnt even that chubby ) so her popularity went down the drain.

Nothing they say about Cerebella (or any other character) is mean; in fact they often say she has '魅力的なセクシーボディ' (An attractive sexy body) and fans like to call her '女神！' (Goddess!). Also Filia obviously has a popular design as her name in image searches is by far the highest fetishes aside. Cosistantly though Marie and Peacock seem to be searched a lot and a lot of fanart has them chillin' together.

Also I just saw a comment on a Beowulf video saying 'ベオウルフの声はセックスのようなものです' (Beowulf's voice is like sex). Night Phyre you have done it again!
