Didn't really see a thread for this game, so yeah.

General thread for the Tekken series, like which game was your first, fave/least fave game and character(s), thoughts about TTT2 and TR + the future T7 and TxSF (if that's still even in production lmao), and so on.

Guess I'll start off with the usual 'What's your first Tekken game?' question. Growing up, I had played Tekken 3 with my older sister, and I didn't really understood fighting games at the time, so I would pick Xiaoyu and just mash buttons till I got a round win or two.

Never really got a chance to play T4 and onwards cause we didn't have an PS2 (and I don't think the games were released on the GC, right?), but I finally got around to playing TTT2 after my sister's friend lend us her copy of it cause she really didn't play it anymore. We had also DL'ed TR when it came out, but never really got around to playing it cause we were so busy with other stuff. With playing TTT2, I still like and pick Xiaoyu, but I'm learning how to use Alisa and Jin lately.

Well, with that being said, let's talk Tekken. owo
 
Oh a Tekken thread. Since it's one of the games I play I'll watch this thread.
 
Welp, breaking news: Namco plans to release TxSF this year. I'm assuming it'll be released on the PS4 and XBone first, then PS3 and 360.

I expect to see some stuff come out later this year, maybe? And probably have an fall/winter release for Christmas season, or maybe an spring/summer release. Or it'll probably get delayed till next year lol

I've been playing any Tekken at the arcades, restaurants, and theaters since I around 8. So I am sort of a Tekken veteran. But I only played it for the enjoyment.
 
Started with Tekken 3 on the PS1. Played Tekken 4 on occasion at a friend's house, and I played Tekken 5 at an arcade once. Owned Tekken 6, and I have both Tag titles.

I really like playing as Hwoarang, despite the skill and execution needed to play him effectively is way out of my reach.

I like the Tekken series, but not enough to bother to get good at them.

To be honest, I'm a fan of the music more than the games themselves.

I was mediocre at a national level in Tekken 4, mediocre at a state level in Tekken 5, solid but relatively untested in Tag since I got into it so late.

Tekken 5 made me lose interest with some balance problems (largely removal of wall techs) and Tekken 6 put me to sleep with bounce combos.

The only thing I really hate about this character is that her boobs grow when she drinks blood. That’s so stupid that I wouldn’t want others to know I’m playing such a horrible catastrophe of a character. The idea of a narcoleptic vampire is quite funny, and I like that the voice actress tries to make her sound like a female Bela Lugosi. But this stupid idea with the breasts just ruins the whole character for me.

I mean what is Namco doing? More fake looking boobs, bikini-sets? Is that Tekken or freakin DoA?

Of course they’re doing it all the time now with Tekken and SC, they did it before, but that’s just so pathetic, designing a good looking character without mutant boobs, and then what? Her boobs grow when she drinks blood, but of course. And not just by a little bit, no, at the end of the match its time for jelly-physic-tits the size of your head again. Sigh. I know I shouldn’t be talking because I like Skullgirls, but at least it doesn’t look so hilariously bad like it does in Tekken, SC or DoA.

As pathetic as it is, I find it quite handy for a female vampire. If you’re not sure if you drank enough blood already or not, just look down. If you see nothing but tits, you can call it a night and get back to your coffin.

But that vampire has a serious problem with her self-esteem by the way, if she needs to enhance her breasts by pumping blood in it to get attention. Our own glorious Oujo-sama doesn’t need filthy tricks like that to make everyone adore her; her natural magnificence alone is quite enough. This "vampire" here could learn a lot from our graceful Oujo-sama. Oh, and please get rid of the horns, that’s Jin’s thing. But on the other hand, you could say a vampire who is enlarging her own breasts is quite "horny" as it is.

So when’s Skullgirls x Tekken?

I do like how Tekken's producer responded to this criticism:

everybody who complains should just deal with it. they wanted to do it so they did it. they want to add jiggle physics, let them. I see no harm in it. if the vampire lady gets bigger boobs I'm not gonna be

So if they delete all graphics from the game and make it just black stick figures fighting in front of a white background without any visual features, you would accept it? Because you know, wouldn’t hurt the mechanics.

Visual features do play a role, even if they logically shouldn’t, because you play a game because of the gameplay, right? But you also don’t play games or characters with optics or an art style that you don’t like, admit it.

I personally hate the idea with the enlarging blood-bags as boobs; I won’t play the character because of it, end of the story. It’s something that angers me, I wrote it down because Eliza was the theme of the topic. I don’t overly cry or nag about it; like these idiots on twitter did, I just said what ruins the character for me. I already dealt with it. And I don’t know why it should ruin the game, it certainly doesn’t, it’s just wasted potential for me because I like vampires, her design and that she is narcoleptic, but the growing boobs are just too stupid for me to accept in her character.
 
Gotta agree the breast expansion seems unnecessary and inexplicably gratuitous. Might as well leave her with basketball-sized boobs and call it a day.
I will say this though - she's still much less cheeky than the "sexy Tekken force officer". I love fanservice but couldn't help but raise a eyebrow with the member of a fully-armored squad wearing just a armored bikini.

Anyway, to talk a bit about the series and my short history with it - the only Tekken game I have is 5, but played mashed a few hours in 3 and 4.
I like the series for the humor, the intuitive button layout, the awesome particle effects (no other fighter has moves that look like they hit so hard), the cool looking moves and the eye candy.
But I'm not much of a fan of the gameplay. The "juggle-the-other-guy-for-half-an-hour" schtick gets very tiring really fast for me.
Also, I feel like after Dark Resurrection, in terms of characters, the series got progressively worse. Despite the silliness, most characters had a real martial art you could associate with but now it's "fighting style is not having a fighting style", "fighting style is being fat", "fighting style is Mary Sue DBZ bullshit", etc. Zafina is bleepin' glorious though. Truly a saving grace.
On that note, this poser with Oujo-sama's namesake is clearly a testing ground for SF-special moves in Tekken.
(Incidentally, I'm a bit disappointed with that prospect because I was hoping TxSF would show the SFs wholly play like Tekken characters, like Zangief having multi-throws like King and Ryu using actual karate.)

My favorite characters are Bryan, Asuka, Anna, Heihachi (RIP Gouri Daisuke) and Zafina.
 
i'm still salty anna isn't in txsf but eh i always liked nina better(anna isn't in tekken rev so i know she won't be there and the mokujin don't have any of her moves)

It isn’t. Sorry if I’m appearing as a nagger who’s just raging about his little nitpicks, but I just wanted to show you with extreme measures that while gameplay is the only thing that should matter, optics and certain character traits can make you either like or hate them. No matter how fluid they play or how "good" they are, you won’t play them. But on the other hand, characters which appearance and personality you really like can push you more toward learning them if you’re bad with them at first.

And don’t be confused: I only complain about one character, Eliza, not the entire game. I never criticized the game mechanics, I love and play Tekken. But this boob growing thing is just something I don’t like and I just wanted to say that. I like to complain about stuff I don’t like, I know, but I’m not mad.
 
Her boobs don't grow from sucking blood. That was just a theory early on. It's an alternate outfit you have to unlock, and takes a while to do so.

Thank you. Now that I know that, I can hope the next time Eliza comes along this alternate costume wont. And even if it does, I don’t need to select it, I can happily ignore it.

Then again, the question still remains: Why make a normal and a big boob Eliza anyway? Because they didn’t had the time/resources to make a real alternate costume and said: "Let’s just pump those balloons up, the kids will love it!" ?

some people like big boobs, others like small ones, they probably wanted to cater to both so they made both versions. EVERYBODY IS HAPPY! :D

I think Eliza is much prettier than most of the Tekken gals and her figure is flattering. Her outfit is very cute too.

he's probably gonna search IGN for character polls to find which character in Tekken IGN likes best so he can remove said character entirely.

To be fair, it was EventHubs who spoilered me, they should have been intelligent enough to not make the situation even worse. It isn’t even in a spoiler, its on the fucking top of the page and the header picture alone slaps it directly into your face.

I love E-Hubs but they need to stop with things like this, I'm really pissed, I wanted to watch that live on stream.

I just hope somehow this is a big, big fake that has been planned and Harada will be there today with Ono and announce Tekken x Street Fighter. Because IGN did nothing but say

"Its Tekken 7" and that it runs on UE4

they didn’t show any footage at all.

That would be fucking glorious.

(And to be clear, IGN leaked it and EventHubs made a news about it, I just saw it on EventHubs first)

Seeing this thread in my alerts made me think 'Wow, someone bumped this up to complain about Tekken cutting the SG EVO Finals?'

Then I read the spoiler and went 'Oh.'

If that's so, then thanks IGN and EventHubs for being shitty and leaking the announcement.
