So stand MP being an actual instrument is incredibly awesome. I figured I'd start a thread for people to post songs they made in fighting game terms instead of notes so that everyone can play them.

For composers, here's the transcription of notes to buttons (as of 11/19/13):

C - HP
C#/Db - LP+MP+HP
D - LP+HP
D#/Eb - MP+HP
E - LP+MP
F - LP
F#/Gb - MP
G - HK
G#/Ab - MK+HK
A - LK+MK
A#/Bb - LK
B - MK

With up and down to move octaves.

To start, here's the Skullgirls title theme, taken from these sheets: http://www.ninsheetm.us/sheets/Other/Skullgirls/TheLegendoftheSkullHeart.pdf
F Bb F E C Eb F Eb Db Bb C Db C Ab F Ab Bb
LP/2LK/LP/LP+MP/HP/MP+HP/LP/MP+HP/LP+MP+HP/2LK/HP/LP+MP+HP/HP/2MK+HK/2LP/2MK+HK/2LK

Enjoy!

LK+MK/.../LK+MK/LK+MK/LK+MK/HK/LK+MK/LK+MK...

Don't act like you wont know what this is when you play it

Are the notes in any specific order? I would have thought they would put them from lowest to highest time starting at lk to the lp+mp+hp, but it seems random.

Yes, they are. With the exception of HP being C / HK being G, they're in real-actual-trumpet-valve order.

"They".

I can't wait for the videos, people are, apparently, already playing full fighting game themes on it.

You could also use LK+HK at the moment. It doesn't have a note so it could act as a rest.

Hopefully it will be done with one. Then the second can do the dancing.

I'm currently working on the beginning of The Lives We Left Behind. My dream is to get good enough at the inputs, by the time Big Band is officially released, to be able to play it as a taunt at Maplecrest.

It would be so evil.

(I'll have inputs when I finish it)

LP+MP/LP/HK/8HP/LP+HP/LP+MP/LP/HK/LK+MK/MK/8LP/LK+MK/MK/8HP/8LP+HP/8LP+MP/LP+MP/LP/HK/8HP/8LP+HP/8LP+MP/8LP/HK/HK/8LP+MP/8LP+HP/HK/8LP+MP/8LP+HP/HK/8LP+MP/8LP+HP/HK/8LP/8LP+MP/8LP+HP/8HP

Substitute rhythms and that's the Raiders Of The Lost Ark theme.

I hope I'm not the only one who thinks it would be funny and awesome to play Rock/Metal riffs on Big Band's trumpet like Cult's "Fire Woman", Scorpions' "Rock You Like a Hurricane", Accept's "Balls to the Wall", Deep Purple's "Smoke on The Water", etc. I know some of them use power chords, but you could still just play the base notes.

BTW, do you need to have 5 bars of meter to actually play on the trumpet in a real match? Or have I misread something?

It used to be that way due to how the trumpet worked. Now you can play at any time, but it will only hit as many times as you have bars of meter (1 bar is one hit, 5 bars are 5 hits, and everything in between). Everything else is just playing the instrument as if it's a taunt.

Here's hoping the stage music will cut off quicker than after as many as 15 notes in the final version.

I'm just waiting for dat Careless Whisper, while Big Band's still using tenor sax sounds for his trumpet.

I really want this to become a super so it becomes actually viable.
Even Big Bands taunt takes too long, how am I supposed to play all the songs I practiced?
Well I've heard that his secret lvl 5 super will use the trumpet for its input so I guess its the other way round???

This is so awesome, you can actually play songs! Big Band officially added to my team, now I have to decide who to drop.

They could make it a super similar to Lilith's from Vampire Savior. Go to 3:37

Essentially a mini rhythm game like DDR or Guitar Hero. With Big Band he could have several random songs that come up, or it could be completely randomized. The more inputs you get correct the more damage you do.

(Argh! I know that second song but my scumbag brain refuses to load the file...)

We've seen honk battles, sumo battles but have people tried trumpet battles? Like, each player takes a turn to play a trumpet solo, and the first to choke, eats a TUBA!TUBA!TUBA!TUBA!, then start over and rinse/repeat. Or something like that.
Folks probably tried this, I guess... (.__.)

It's careless whisper

Man I wish I could get the epic sax button input, I would be more than happy to learn it.

Here are some helpful tips for would-be trumpeteers out there.

  • You don't need to keep tapping a note to keep the trumpet out! The latest patch enables you to hold down buttons to keep the trumpet out, so you can play songs with long refrains just how they originally were.
  • By using dummy recording in training mode, you can make a recording of your beautiful music by playing it through a training dummy! This can enable you to have a dummy play one half of a particularly difficult song while you perform the easy half live, or if you're feeling ballsy you can have a trumpet battle and play alongside your dummy.
  • Here's a good one; if you enable slow motion in training mode then record a song with your dummy, returning the game to normal speed and playing back your dummy will also speed up your recording! This enables you to play otherwise near-impossible songs on his trumpet by playing them in slow motion, then speeding them up by disabling slow motion. I expect to see a UN Owen Was Her? cover ASAP.

Cool some more stuff I didn't know. Also maybe with dummy recording I could give Flight of the Bumblebee a go (I'm sure I have the actual music lying around somewhere)

We seriously need some taps up in this piece.

If anyone recalled, I was trying to figure out a certain song to play out if you could keep the trumpet out after a KO for a song.
And I figured it out.

No, I won't be making a video. All I can say is that when you play it, you'll figure it out immediately.
You did play those games, right?

8HP 8HP 8HP . MK+HK LK 8HP LK 8HP

Now people will be asking why I didn't bother to extend it, and I'll respond that what comes afterwards would be merely filler. Simply pulling this off would be...victorious enough in itself.

I'll be sure to try playing this after every round win as Big Band, alternating between this and nana-nana boo boo

Thanks so much

Thanks!

Doubled the last LP+MP+HP because the pause between LP+MP+HP and HP was normally long enough to end the solo otherwise.

I love that the trumpet drop to me = mic drop.

Big Band is so fun

It sounds so familiar, but I can't place it...
